John Farnham has the best voice that you will ever hear live. I have seen him 8 times. As well as having an amazing voice he can get an audience pumped up like nobody else.
As an Aussie, basically none of his songs are particularly new. To pick a favourite is like going through every song with that amazing voice is a difficult chore. I love this song but Burn For You which he wrote is probably it. I haven't heard this one for a while. Such an amazing voice.
This is absolutely one of my all time favourite songs of John, it’s his song, no one can sing it like he can you have to see him sing it live with the MSO it’s just beautiful. there so many songs of John in here you have only just started.
We are so lucky to have had him as a staple here in Australia forever. All through the 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. The guy is timeless. I remember seeing him at a pub in the early 80s during one of his pre come backs. He had several. He kept trying to retire but we wouldn't let him. His comebacks are a bit of a running joke.
I love this song! I understand the goose bumps, I get them often listening to Johns amazing voice. The live version of John & Olivia singing this song is amazing, goose bump stuff for sure. John & Olivia were very close friends, their chemistry on stage would suggest otherwise but not so. John has been happily married for over 50 years now.

This song was written by Graham Goble of the Original Little River Band, it was orchestrated by David Hirschfelder and recorded in 1989 at the Melbourne Tennis Centre. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra played on it. It's a live recording with a film clip filmed after.
John is always best live. He was born to sing and it shows on every level. His music is so varied, he can and does, sing any genre beautifully. I have loved his performances for decades, and still do.
This is my favourite reaction on John Farnham that you’ve done so far. Also, one of his greatest vocal attributes is his diction. You never miss a word of what he’s communicating. I think this is part of why sound engineers have said he makes it easy for them in recording sessions.
Me too I knew him when he was Johnny! Saw him in Pippin years ago and I gathered with the rest of the girls for an autograph. He is an Aussie treasure. So glad I got to see him live at least once in my life. Awesome singer, great Aussie 👍 bloke.
Hey there Matt - I am so happy you reacted to this - seems like RU-vid has exploded with reactions to John. I am old enough and live in Australia, so I have seen him playing in small venues like The Musos' Club- which was a great 80s place smaller and more intimate tham we get these days. He has always bringing it all to live performances. He is a great singer and a great and genuine Aussie. He is now I think 73 - and has had to have emergency surgery for cancer in the jaw. He has a lot of rehab to go througj - even learning to speak let alone singing. So listen to all you can - he is a blessing,
John is still so very loved. My daughter won a voice contest singing this song. Neither I nor one of the judges knew it was one of John’s songs until she announced it before she sang it. One of the judges wrote on her score sheet that she didn’t think she liked John Farnham but after hearing that song she loved him and she was going to listen to more of his music. I started listening to more too. 🦋

This is actually a live performance adapted to a music video. I think the original performance is also a video by itself. The slow rolling rasp you hear shows up in John's voice near the end of a tour.....his voice on the original song from 1980(?) is smooth and clear.....amazing.
Even not completely at his peak, John sings better than anyone. For that reason, talking about peak feels wrong when it comes to him. But I've always felt that this show maybe should have been recorded earlier during that 1989 tour, because that rasp you mentioned is clearly evident during the whole show - and probably down to end of tour fatigue, as you say. By comparison, if you listen to the 1988 Expo, he is insanely good.
We love Farnsy here in Australia. He is an absolute legend. Yes he is still alive and still rocking out in his 70s now. John often says this is his most favorite song, he had the most to do with writing and producing it. It's certainly not his biggest hit, but those that love him and his work really love this song. Do more, anything, great to see him in the worlds ears.

This is my favourite song of his . He has a little gravel but he is incredible. We all used to laugh because he did so many tours that were supposed to be his last tour and sure enough he’d pull another one out. We all miss him in concert and yes he is still alive xox

John originally released this in 1980 when his career was on the slide. I think it was remixed for a later album, because this video is more recent. It was written by Graeham Goble, who was one of the original members of The Little River Band and wrote other classics like Reminiscing and A Long Way There. John is over 70 now but can still belt out a tune better than most younger ppl!

Being an Aussie, I grew up with his songs & they simply don’t age. They’re as good now as they were years ago. On a different tangent, I’d like you to react to a young Soprano singer by the name of Amira Willighagen who won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine without having a single singing lesson. She taught herself by watching uTube videos featuring the likes of Pavarotti , mimicking the mouth movements and breathing techniques. She started this at age 7. How a seven year old can even think about Opera is mind boggling, let alone teach herself to sing the Opera arias. This is just a very small part of Amira’s journey & I’ll impart more later, otherwise this post would go forever. So, please react to the following.
