He was giving a concert at my church in MS the night I was baptized as a little girl. As I came out wet hair and all, he had me sit by him as he played this song. He used me as an example of a Christian's worth once "touched by the Master's hand". It has been such a special song to me for all these many yrs. he truly touched my heart and made my baptism a very special moment in my life.
Wow, Lisa, that's an incredible story. This is an important song to illustrate what the touch of The Master's hand can do for us. May I also recommend Mylon LeFevre's Stranger to Danger? It's a different style of music than this, but a great message.
My dads dad made violins in WV. My sister had the old one that had hung on dads wall ( for years in Ohio )playable again. With dad close to dying, her son played dad’s favorite song. It was not this song but dad was moved to hear his dads old violin playing again. Dad went home to be with the Lord within a month of hearing the violin play Prior to all this I had fallen in love with Wayne’s song and heard him in concert. At our infant son’s funeral I asked a male Christian soloist (who knew the song well) to sing at our sons’s funeral because I wanted to surprise my dad because I knew the funeral would be hard on dad and mom. Their own son had died at five years of age, years and years prior. (I never knew my oldest brother.) Dad could play the piano and guitar and organ by ear. I knew Wayne’s song would mean a lot to him and help diffuse the reminders of losing his own son years earlier. To this day I’m thrilled I could pull that off for dad. And this day, my dad and mom and their Murl Jr and our McCabe are in heaven so so close to the touch of the Masters hand Thank you Wayne for amazing memories through your ministry of song. God bless you nd your family. I pray all is well with you.
My wife's favorite song. No, she did not went home to be with Lord or is gravely ill, I just wanted to give props to my wonderful wife and Wayne Watson and this wonderful song.
Haven't seen this version since sometime in the 80's, when I saw Wayne perform it at a concert... went home and started figuring it out on the guitar and have played it like this ever since, at least as close as I can come. My favorite version of all time, thanks for posting it!
@jernieg Taylordewd is correct, this is from a video album that he did in 92. I did the costumes for "It's Time" on the album. We filmed the interviews and a few of the songs in this beautiful home in Tulsa. Working with Wayne was one of the most rewarding experiences that I have ever had. Of all the "celebrities" I have worked with, he was so genuine and kind. Didn't act like he was any better than any of the rest of us - he is a truly humble man, and I was honored to work with him.
I have looked and looked for this song here on youtube. So glad you have it posted by Wayne, cause if you type it in the search you get all kinds, but not this one. Love this song so much. Thank you for posting......
Wayne Watson was the first to record the song. Kramp went on to write another song entitled "The Runner's Song" however no one would ever record the song. In the 80's Kramp wrote 2 books on discipleship entitled "Out of Their Face and Into Their Shoes," and "Getting Ahead by Staying Behind: How to Be a Better Follower of Jesus." Later became Vice President of LifeWay in Nashville and now is eh Co-Founder and Partner at The Riverstone Group
I heard this years ago ,do not remember who recorded it first years or so,It was put on a CD alblum recorded by the Jordanaires ,that was second time I ever heard it. THey started to cut the Alblum and before it was finished with all tracks laid ,the Lead singer past away and there was an audition to pick some one to do the lead. The lead singer picked was a well know singer in Toledo Ohio area by Name of Bob Wurst, Know in the area as the KING,man with Velvet voice
bigblick101 & Elaine 32909 Johnny Paycheck did this song on one of his early albums and did a great job on it , And he also ha a song called " The old Violin" But he did do them both.
Good version, but liked the one by Wayne that came out in the 80's. Saw him perform it in Dallas area. Prestonwood Baptist? Don't know if I've heard Johnny Paycheck's version.
@Elaine32909, Johnny Paycheck's song is called "The Old Violin", & is nothing like this song. In that one, he compares himself to an old violin about to be put up for the last time. It came out around the time he went to prison--might have been about how he felt at the time, what with being locked up & all. Don't really know, just a guess.
QueefSniffer @QueefSniffer Wait till you stand before the Almighty, don't fret son you'll get your chance to "punch Him in the face" when you stand before Him on judgment day. And yet He died for people like you and me, and He even gives us the opportunity to be a part of His glorious Kingdom, even though we persecute. May God give you the same treatment He gave me, the same that showed His power, glory and saving grace that paved the way.
the song I'm seaching isn't a Wayne Watson's song, but please does anyone know to whom does it belong? It's the song below, it's called: "Paradise" Thank you in advance! www.4shared.com/mp3/koYREa3-/paradise.html?
@OrthodoxDarwinist And yet, even if you were the ONLY person on this earth He would still die for you knowing you reject Him...can you even comprehend that kind of love? Have any of your family or friends made the choice to be beaten and killed to take the punishment for something you did? Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
