I just did a touchless yesterday. Mine is wrapped with ppf and it seems to make touchless washes work well. Bugs are tough though. Usually gotta pretreat those areas. I usually use touchless during the winter to get rid of salt. Also newer touchless wash machines do a better job

I really love that t-shirt - That's exactly how one of my doors look like on my Tesla

I ran mine through a touchless last week for the first time. My outcome was about the same. It did feel good to get most of the grime and any salt/sand off the car at least. And I didn't have to be outside at 35 degrees F to do it!

I had my M3 ceramic coated, as a result I daren't use the machines. So I bought a bucket, a dirt guard, some carpro rinseless wash, a microfibre mitt and a large quantity of Costco microfibre towels purely for drying. Takes 2.5 quarts water to do the entire car and looks really good!

Also the product I use seems to help touch up the ceramic coat too. Bonus.

Great little video, Alex! I see a lot of dirty Model 3’s owned by people that are not as possessed as our little community. For the common person who’s not very picky, they would be thrilled with your car wash. Most people don’t dry the door jambs or any other non exposed painted parts of their cars. I go to a car wash that has a lot of spinning materials that don’t even scratch the clear coat. I still dry everything with microfiber cloths, because I’m obsessed with perfection.

There certainly are some more conventional automated car washes with either spinning rag or foam sections which are reasonably easy on paint, but much of that depends on how well maintained the equipment is.

Alex Venz Equipment maintenance and the replacement of worn out spinning parts is critical to keep paint from getting damaged. I used to go to a touch less car wash, but they had a bunch of people at the end that would wipe the car down with cotton towels, that were spun in a centrifuge to keep them dry enough. I don’t know how often they washed them.

Tried the touchless and had even worse outcomes. Plenty of dirt left on my Model X. I now use a rinseless wash with washing mitts and dry with microfiber. Takes 20 min to clean and dry the entire car and it looks much better than the car wash.

I use one of these on a regular basis. I have the front of my car covered with PPF and that part is always clean. I wish I spent the extra to do the entire car.

I’m in the business of touchless car wash I’ve read a few misconceptions one that caught my attention was layers of wax or protection getting damaged the answer is no it does not get damaged, only way that would happen is if the chemicals are incorrectly used for example washing your car in hot weather allowing the chemical to dry on the paint. Another misconception I read was the level of cleanliness, for example if you wash your car in a contact method using a sponge and drying with a towel, the level of cleanliness is not 100% in order to reach that you need to clay bar and polish your car to get that level of finish which I’d imagine not everyone has the time or money to do every week. A touchless car wash I would clean about 90-95 percent. Drive thru touchless car wash can not judge the amount of chemical that may or may not be needed or what type of soiling a vehicle has it is just a standard one for all service that is why I offer mobile service manual way is usually the most effective as technology for touchless is not at the optimum level yet Hope this helps clear any misconceptions

I don’t know why they don’t have more touch less around southern CA. Around the southeast they have a lot. Laser wash is a brand that works really well. I’ve thought about buying land and building one in LA. Priced it out. Just for the car wash machine itself, not the building, it was a little over a million. I hate the way LA does washes. Hand washes take forever. And the few half self wash type places are expensive for what they are. I grew up in south Florida. There, and all over the south East it seems, hand washes or places where it’s like half machine, they are a team. As soon as your car starts to come out, they attack drying, doing the wheels, wiping down door jams… in 30 seconds they do what it takes one guy 20 min. I can’t stand sitting there watching one guy taking forever. And I don’t know how car washes deal with it as it slows everything down, cars get backed up, people are pissed it’s taking so long… just because they don’t want to share tips? Is that it? I can’t wash it myself as I don’t have the space. Apartment living.

I have heard that the wash chemicals used by the touchless wash strip away protection like waxes and coatings. I'm not sure if this is true, but I thought I would mention this to everyone.

That's all car wash bro, however touchless is still better as the other car washes scratches your car with all their cloth they use that picks-up dirt from all the other cars that passes through it. If you want it 100% clean you got to do it yourself.
