@@hastensavoir7782 IMHO I would say it's actually the Toyota Land Cruiser, that is the vehicle that no one has problems for DECADES within Africa, Australia, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Do you ever see the United Nations driving G Wagons in their missions? I ain't never seen them drive any G Wagons, they drive the LCs. Terrorist in Africa, the Middle East, etc? They tend to have some LCs in there. The International Red Cross? Usually, Land Cruisers. Any humanitarian efforts, in war zones, disaster relief and 3rd development projects, etc.? Usually, Land Cruisers... The Lexus LX may not be a LC 70, but it is the luxurious version of the Land Cruiser. I would say the LX is more for the civilian market. The LX and LC is pretty much the same. LX being the Luxury Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser is one of the most widely used vehicle that pretty much saves the world, and is deployed in many, many areas for like what... 70 years? You look at the news and look at any war zones to disaster areas and whatnot, and chances are you'll likely see them Land Cruisers

Mercedes may not be reliable but that Nobody complain about the reliability of a G wagon. It's built in old school way for reliability and toughness

The G-wagon is likely the one exception in Mercedes' lineup in regards to reliability. The G has been proven to be one of the most reliable vehicles produced. Probably THE most reliable European car produced. The LX might still have it beat, but the G definitely isn't far behind. Now, when things DO go wrong on the G-class, that's when people complain -- because Mercedes parts & repairs can be very expensive, at least compared to Lexus or Toyota.

The non AMG is already $40k more than the Lexus, and the AMG would compete with the LX F, which is a truck that does not exist.

@@kristians2704 Considering the german's build use and throw cars plenty of us would disagree. We can't keep doing this. We literally have a semi conductor shortage because of this very issue. Do you think old german trash is recycled 100%? We loose a shit ton in materials when unreliable trash is built. They aren't even cost effective to keep on the road if an owner wants to restore it. When mercedes prices their coilpacks at 1500 dollars for each bank and its completely integrated into 1 piece for a 15k S600, that is a rip off, and is primarily the reason why they are such a waste. No fault tolerance and it leaves you stranded. What is the point of buying a Gwagen that shits its own transmission then costs a fraction of the car's price to fix? That is just not sustainable.

That is not a major category. That's an individual feature. That's why it's half a point.

@@andybub45 lol the g class is a well built, reliable vehicle. And there is a warranty so really not even relevant when buying new.

@@kristians2704 Exactly. The GLS would have been a better vehicle to use in this comparison. Also, the 3rd row in the Lexus/Toyota is an odd design when it's in the folded (not in use) position. Impedes on usable cargo space.

Because the g wagon is not mass produced, it’s hand built and the maximum number are sold. There’s also multi-year wait for a new ones, which sell for 100k over msrp as well.

@@musafer2648 LX is also hand-built (at the Yoshiwara factory) but I'm guessing Lexus were able to scale production of that better than Mercedes were able to with the G-wagen

German cars are over engineered prone to fail rolling piles of junk. The Lexus will depreciate so much slower than the MB

@@kristians2704 Trust me..they are junk. I drive a Sprinter each day at work. We have them in the fleet. Our fleet manager told me when ALL German cars are done their duty cycle..no more. No more MB..VW or anything else German. Too unreliable and way too expensive to maintain and repair. The dealer in Kitchener charged the City I work for...Cambridge...$460 for an oil change. I can do 5 oil changes on any Toyota or even FORD...GM or STELLANTIS for that money. You are so full of 💩 your eyes are brown.

Infotainment doesn’t equate luxury.... go sit in a 1990s Toyota Century or a 70s Cadillac eldorado.... it’s about materials used, build quality and so on, not a stupid screen, clearly you own a Hyundai

@@jackz4149 Many things wrong with your statement. First, I own a corolla hybrid. Second of all, if im paying 85-90k on a NEW car I do not want a crappy outdated screen in the middle. I want the latest tech. I can care less if it has lushes leather or beautiful styling. If you are trying to sell me a *90k* car and it has an outdated infotainment system, im not taking it. Period.

Infotainment system is really important for Mercedes.. because u always need to find nearby dealerships to fix the electrical nightmares these cars are..

@@NyQuil.Relief Well buy what you want and then enjoy it. I've seen plenty of MB owners get tired of wasting their time chasing after these issues. I pay 90k to buy a vehicle that works, no matter what and doesn't waste my time chasing after issues. If you're making enough to afford these, your time is precious. In a Lexus my time is respected and so is how much I paid for the vehicle. I can't be bothered to be driving around in a rental while they fix the merc for the 10th time. Own one, and well you'll get a feel for what that ownership experience is like.

The LX infotainment isn't that bad, I mean I have a 2017 LX, and a 2021 Camry with that touch screen infotainment system, and believe me, my hands on my LX joystick/mouse/ controller with a quick glance at the screen is not bad at all and I find it very safe. On our Camry, yes, the touch screen is nice, but your hands will have to travel and touch the screen vs the mouse and cursor already gliding across the screen. IDK, they both cool and they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Not if you buy any of them used after the depreciations have mostly taken its toll. After depreciation, you have a much cheaper, reliable, and relatively luxury vehicle. Some Mercedes are super reliable if you know how to work on them. The thing to remember is that 99% of cars are depreciating objects and the average person should not waste too much money on it. Same with the newest tech gadgets. Invest the rest in yourself (education and/or financially).
