Not a west Aussie until you've done Bornholm. Went down to 3psi in a Jimny once, 5psi didn't quite work.

I'm from Albany and the beautiful thing about Bornholm beach is it's never the same thing twice! I've been there solo a few times and blitzed it, and been there in conveys a few times and had nightmares getting out, that's the beauty in her! What makes it difficult is that there's almost NO option of a snatch recovery down there because it's hard enough moving one vehicle, let alone two! Definitely not somewhere anyone wants to go to solo for their first time. Good watching! 🍻🎣 p.s it's pronounced Born-home 🤘

Bornholm is a rite of passage in the Albany area. Last I heard the farmer charges a grand to pull you out with his tractor too, and he doesn't jump on his tractor until he has the cash in hand. Make sure you or your buddies know what you're doing when you head down there

We live just around the corner from Bornholm. It's all about tire pressure. We did it in a stock ish Hilux. Took us 3 goes to get back up the hill haha

That engine noise is fantastic.

Single digit air pressure is needed alot down around those ways. Normally due to others making holes. How's that surf though!!!!! Bloody beautiful!!. Great effort once again boys'

Might have been worth carrying a Land Anchor. They cost 5 or 600 but would have made it a LOT easier to do those recoveries..

I really don't understand the fuss on this beach... I went down there solo (for a client project) in my not all that modified MN Triton (yeah, yeah I know), got in and out with zero issues, didn't see any other vehicles there at the time either. I just let my tyres down and was able to get back up just fine. To be fair though, I was running about 8PSI all around and had very little weight in tray, just my swag, some recovery tracks, an esky with food & water and my camera gear. The track wasn't all that torn up either, maybe just a quiet time of year when I did it.

Recovery boards worked well. Old mate struggling to see in the sun should have put his sunnies on. They were right there on his hat lol

Cracker of a recovery episode young felahs,can't say with the vehicle's in my day we would attempt them tracks unless they were petrol. Maxtrax are another great modern tool to get you out of a pickle, might have to invest in some. Be good and kind 😁😁

Great video. That beach is looking pretty tough. Maxxtrax vs cheap tracks.... just get maxxtrax people. How come the original trip video intro music is no longer used, with the silhouette of the joining vehicles ect. That was part of the 4wheelin experience on youtube. You instantly can tell its bout to go down. #bringbackthethememusic.

Beaches like these need really low pressures (less than10psi) and preferably front and rear lockers. I’ve also found that being able to turn off the rear locker in corners makes life a lot easier. This requires a rewire of switches as the Toyota (factory) switches, (certainly)ARB, and (maybe) eLocker switches configuration all need rear engaged before the front can be engaged. Really low tyre pressures and tight fast corners are a recipe for knocking a front tyre off the rim. This is especially so with lockers. With front locked and rear unlocked, oversteer, turn, accelerate and the front will pull hard in the right direction, and the rear diff open will actually help push around a corner too. If the rear cannot be unlocked, it’s trying to push straight and opposes trying to turn. I’ve tried both setups with locker switches and can vouch for how well (in soft tight and twisty sand tracks) it works being able to turn the rear locker on and off as required and leave the front locker engaged. Watching Ronny and Torbs coming off the beach shows how front and rear lockers together really isn’t helpful when a turn is needed, hence both were successful the second time with the straight run up. After watching this video Ronny, just itching to get down here with some mates and have a crack at this track.

Would love to have a 4wd one day and do these trips. Just a question. The tracks look really narrow what happens when theres another vehicle coming from the opposite direction? Does one have to reverse all the way back until theres room for both the cars to pass?
