What makes it funny for me is the fact that Mai, Satono, and Okina fully explain what's happening, and Cirno completely misinterprets it. Like how she thinks that somehow, HER power was limited by Satono and Mai when it was really enhanced. The Extra stage dialogue is pure gold.
I'm actually one of the main translators in Touhou and I worked on this scenario, and it felt so freakin' hilarious to do it, it was like reliving Great Fairy Wars :p

I think I've watched too much anime - I always keep open the possibility that she has some magical age-reverting powers to keep her real strength in check. ...or she could just be a run-of-the-mill mountain hag.
I hope Okina makes more appearances in the future. I think shes one of the most interesting characters Touhou has to offer. Also, sick theme and boss fight!
For a character who canonically defeats the heroines, she deserves it. I wouldn't mind seeing more of her around, even if it's just so her, Kanako and the other gods can butt heads.
Eternity was the shinto god fairy that rapresented the land of the dead/the unchanging and eternal land (that's why she's called like that) that was worshipped as a swallowtail caterpillar due to a social unrest when buddhism was introduced in japan. The person that created the noh arts using the masks that prince shoutoku made (which in touhou are now forming hata no kokoro), hata no kawakatsu, seeing that people were throwing away their belongings because of this cult that was centered around the afterlife, decided to kill the person who started the cult and so he stopped the cult itself. Thanks to a lot of hints in the games, and even from an interview with zun, Okina matara is most likely this man after he was made a buddhist god, matarajin, which is also interesting since this name could refer to a mother goddess name (hence, that's why okina is female and not male). Okina is a mash up of a lot of various myths, really, that's why she's an hidden god. So, that's why eternity, as the tsukuyo god, is, or rather was, tecnically a enemy of okina. Okina killed the man behind her cult. And that is why eternity's backdoor was powered by the lifeless boundary of the seasons. Okina has temples and worshippers in the outside world (where she also lives) that's why she is still powerful.
Okina Matara in a nutshell: Be a Patner of Yukari Have some beats of Yukari's Theme on your theme (Necrofantasia) Use a Nonspell with orange kunais (i think) and make a "Border Sign "Border of Wave and Particle"" as a nonspell Now you are Okina Matara
I'd like to see a scenario where that same exchange happens, but then Reimu and Marisa face off against Cirno in stage 6 because SHE'S the mastermind. That'd be priceless.
Fleeting Gaze she beated all touhou 9 roaster, including SHIKIEIKI and YUUKA, and beated (ironically with 0.00 power) Okina Matara, one of the patners of Yukari, which means *some balls and power, real power*
You guys prepped for Cirno Day this year? It happens every year that ends with 9, on September 9th. We're gonna have snow cones and a figure skating team and fancy ice sculptures and pizza that you can freeze as many times as you want without turning it bland.
The spring final spell is EZ for me, yet I only play on easy and I did Reimu spring because homing shots are awesome. I did easy Reimu spring with no releases 17 bombs and 5 misses
I don't have the spells unlocked on easy, but I did watch all 4 spells. From what I gathered, Spring does look to be the easiest. Summer spawns bullets too close for comfort, and Winter forces you dodge several bullets in a confined space. Fall looks pretty light on the bullet count, but if you're good with avoiding bullets from your sides, it looks like perhaps it could be one of the easier ones.
Exactly...this isn't just your normal stupidity. This is stupidity that has gone past normal stupidity. It's like the Super Saiyan equivalent, as I like to see it.
One game gives you complete control over your extra abilities, and the other has a more nuanced system. Compared to how readily handy releases were, I can see that being a point for HSiFS's case.
Are you sure that Okina's final card with Spring season is the hardest? I could just be overlooking it since I never tried it myself, but it seemed a lot like Winter was harder from other videos I saw
Spring feels janky compared to the rest, with the walls and things falling on you. I can kinda follow the other attacks, or at least comprehend the patterns within. Keeping it 100%, all of her final spells are just a wee bit ludicrous for my skill level lol
You do make a good point, now that I think about it, Winter is just "follow the lasers" while Spring is pretty much a whole mess And yes, her final spells really do look near-impossible to do, definitely one of the most notoriously difficult attacks in the whole series lol
Fleeting Gaze I am not a hater or something but nowadays summer is the meme, spring fell somehow(probs because summer final is also bs and release is terrible also sub shot does nothing, maybe?) ,still great performance, I cannot 1cc on hard yet lol
Heh heh, no worries. If it weren't for Summer having a repeatable release, I can see how it'd be a pretty funny choice. Had it not been for that, I would have done Cirno/Summer instead.
You all found cirno story funny but i found it realy aggravating becuase of how arrogant she is. I know she stupid but not even KOISHI would act like that and she acts unconsciously. BTW its only ok when Kokoro did the "Battel me for the title of the strongest" in HM not here for cirno.
