Clear of stage 5 without dying, bombing or using any cards.
This stage is really where you start to feel just how weak your base shot is without any card upgrades.
Every enemy in this stage takes forever to die and if you fall behind with your destruction even just a little bit you're very quickly overwhelmed.
Stage
The second half of this stage is really hard.
Especially the yin-yang spam right after the midboss. It's so hard in fact that it's required to stall the midboss to skip as much of it as possible. You don't want to timeout the midboss since the boss leaves immediately, you want to end it as close to 0 seconds as possible to gain the most amount of time. The yin-yangs need to die asap before they reach the bottom of the screen, but their spawn position is random, so it's possible they can all spawn far away from each other which is a huge problem. Lots of unfocused dodging here to make full use of Reimu's homing.
The midboss can be misdirected if you position yourself next to her foot at the start.
The line fairies at the end are aimed at you. You want to focus on one side so you don't get overlapping lines. Gets messy if a fairy from the right escapes, though I think it's inevitable near the end. If you don't destroy all the fairies their lines will overlap with the deathfairy at the end.
Trouble spots are the second half of the stage, non 2 and spell 2 and 4.
Boss
- Non 1: Free if you hug the corners to misdirect all the bullets off-screen.
- Spell 1: Routing spell. I got bad luck here where the boss moved right, which made this a bit scary.
- Non 2: This non is absolutely awful because it just randomly walls. It's like Greatest Treasure Light. Lost most runs to this.
- Spell 2: Trick here is to make full use of your vertical space. The hitbox of the previous laser disappears before the hitbox of the next laser activates. I've heard this can literally wall on very rare occasions, but I'm not sure if I've encountered that myself yet.
- Non 3: Very tight squeeze's, just stick to the bottom. I macro the last set of stars.
- Spell 3: Weird spell. I found it the easiest if you aim the mentos to fire completely horizontally of each other. This creates the biggest gaps. There are dense and less dense lines of glow bullets on this, you never want to go through the denser ones.
- Spell 4: Lots of overlapping patterns happening here. The trick is to dodge these in the correct order. Dodge the first warning lines first, then the star ring and then the rest. This spell has a problem where the boss can move down the screen so much that the star ring actually becomes unpassable. You need to take refuge to the sides when that happens.
