I do love how much of Quar's War' lore is just WW1-2 era geopolitics but with a vintage comic book style of panache and personality applied to each nation. It all feels very grounded and realistic almost like reading the background for an actual historical wargame but also there's an extra little something about it that really sells that this isn't about humans at all this is about the Quar. fantastic, really
An analogy i tried to make for such tabletop strategy games is that Quar is the tabletop equivalent to Oddworld, while Turnip28 is the equivalent of Zeno Clash. The logic being that Quar is more grounded,, like you say, yet with interesting nonhuman creatures, while Turnip28 has a unique type of absurdism and impracticality for all the inhabitants.
@Saintjames878 Thanks! I just found the voice packs they used! One is from the Foppish voice pack, while the other is from the Irish pack. And as a side note: the Irish pack is absolutely hilarious.
Your Quar videos very actually inspired me to write up a trench wargame for a recent game jam. It's called Rats in the Trenches and you're partially to blame for the post apocalyptic war that these rat folk have to go through.
@@NicoBabyman1Links dont seem to be working here but you can look up "Rats In The Trenches Game" and you'll find something on itchio by Arcane Whiskers.
Okay you got me, I was aware of the Quar since their playstation tactics game which I didn't think twice about and passed on it. But with your videos with the lore, the painting. With the Toulmore really got me to buy some Quar and give the game a shot. I just love these stubborn little guys.
Basically Toulmore acts like Nation who is tired of betrayal and who is the natiom who has been betrayed the most? Philpines. Also the fact their military isn't that great their still a force to be wreckoned with
The colors of Quar is so fun and bright. Haven't seen a ttg that has politics within the lore, you'd expect a gritty look, but nah. Reminds of both old Rogue Trader paint schemes and Comix Zone.
Still making those gas mask Quar but I've switched to Fidwogians. Been busy as hell but I'll send you a couple when I get them all done. Fidwog next would be awesome.
Loving these videos, played a first few rounds with just basecoated models last week and the game itself is surprisingly fun to pick up Really excited that the plastics are selling well enough that Fidwog and Easky are getting their own sprues later in the year
I've ended up getting my first box of Quar after you've featured them so much, and while the first 10 are reserved to use as a Stargrave (I'm sorry, Quargrave) crew I think I'm going to do the rest as Toulmore now. I like the brown and cream look, even if it's not their "official" scheme anymore.
Finished painting my royalist army from the box set and wargame Atlantic add ons, and primed the crusaders up when this video dropped. Now they got the Scottish Quar. Update and edit: zombiesmith are good at getting their miniatures out for people who can't afford or don't know how to set up or use a 3d printer. So it's always worth a look at. They just released the Gwent soldiers and I'm going to guess they'll do Toulmare pretty soon. ( They have added tanks and command teams with squirrel messengers.)
I heard that Zombismith got way more orders than they expected when the plastic came out & should be getting more stock in soon. Which makes me hopeful that the Quar I ordered back in May will FINALLY be shipped.
These guys are so baller! Also love the funny sketches shown during the lore, sorta has spy vs spy vibe with then 😂 btw where can I find the lore pages for factions?
I LOVE QUAR I’m going to make a vid about them someday but I’m still working on how to do a mini painting vid Please do partisans next cause they’re my favorite faction
your gwynt video inspired me to get a set of gwynts myself and a friend got the crusaders so we're going to play. thanks for introducing me to quar. I love this series now. can you point me in the direction of more lore so I can read up on it more? This setting is so cool
I'm definitely planning on filling in those blanks with consecutive videos on each faction, but a generalist video on the basics is definitely something I plan on making
