The late Herb Wessel of Hampstead, Maryland was a retired dairy farmer with a serious passion for J. I. Case tractors and equipment. A few years back, Classic Tractor Fever visited his farm and toured Herb's collection. Herb shares of he became interested in Case tractors and tells a few stories about some pieces from his collection.

Like seeing folk that see things for what they are, yes they are part of a lovely collection. But they are toys that are meant to be played with.

Herb sure has a nice collection, Including the Vehicles & Implement. I surely agree about Tractor should have something hooked to it at a show.

He had a very nice collection of Case equipment & cars. I agree with him about the tractors & the implements. It's always good to see the old tractors & implements actually working in the field like they were meant to be used. Stay safe.

I agree with him about seeing the equipment being pulled by the tractors so you know what the tractors capable of and I love seeing the equipment too

I agree as well, As neat & Cool as it is to get out of the house and go to a local show, There's not much to look at besides the tractors. Just me though.

im like this aswell, i restored a family tractor that made its way from germany to here in canada in the 80s it was nice to look at when it was done but somthing was a miss, it felt empty without a implement on the back. so i looked and looked for a europian cultivator and i managed to find one in our farms "toss away pile" it was a french built kongskilde cultivator from the mid 60s, looks realy good on that 71' Schluter

we had a Case 730 ,830, 930, I grew up on them ,literally, when I started I could hardly reach the foot peddles, when I finished, I could reach them no problem.

Case was probably the Most Popular Steam Traction engine Company . My Neighbor in Vicksburg Michigan .. Stephen Maurusik built a 1/3 scale and a 1/6 scale model of a 60 HP Case Steam Engine they were close to perfect in every detail .. He offered to sell me the 1/6 scale model for too much money for a teenager to afford .. Then a few years later he sold the 1/3 scale model for I think $7,500 .. He wanted $7,000 for the 1/6 scale model .. I was told it weighed 180# It was well worth his asking price for sure back around 1978 or so .. Steve taught me how to operate the 1/3 scale model and I went to some Steam shows and Antique Farm Machinery shows such as the one in Jones MI He was an Engineer at Shakespeare CO in Kalamazoo .. before that he was a Farmer near East Lake which is just South East of Kalamazoo MI

I couldn't agree more, implements are just as important part of farming history as are the tractors. I run a small part time farm with a variety of antique farm equipment including my grandfather and fathers farmall 200 . I'm currently working on restoring an old j i Case disc harrow and a plow . Hoping to eventually be running my farm with mixture of IH , David Brown , Case and CaseIh farm machinery

I own a Fordson Dexta 1959, witch is running and I use all the time. Then I just got a 1939 Oliver witch is not running but hope to have it running very soon. Great video and it's great to see these tractors and cars preserved for future generations.
