This is a tour of the Dodge Pleasure Way Class B Camper Van I just picked up. I am trying to figure out which Class B RV I want to keep. This is a 1997 Dodge Pleasure Way with 5.9l V8 360 19ft.
I currently have one very similar to the Coachman he has. While I like it, I just think the lower profile would make it better on gas and slightly stealthier. The class B vans in general are all awesome though.
Your rigs are sweet! Options are always good. You'll know the right one after you try them both out. I'm jealous of the storage space. Really enjoy your vids and your journey.
thank you so much for your quick response to my problems with my pw rv, I love your vidios you offer great advise what a service , looking forward to more adventures one day I will join in.
HappilyHouseless has excellent video on how to get rid of all that striping on the outside, he just took all of his stripes off of his and it looks so good! He is so awesome at showing you how to do stuff and what to use to do it with!
Thanks buddy! Im taking out the geny for sure. The stamp on the side of the LP tank says 10 gallons. If this is true im happy cause thats double the capacity of the Coachman.
Nomadic Assyrian Elvis Van Dweller There is more storage in the Pleasure Way as far as cabinets, The closet is smaller than the Coachman though. The bunk area in the Coachman is a GREAT storage, but thats all it was for me cause I am too big to be crawling up there and overtime I turn over i touch the ceiling. Just a bit to claustrophobic for me to sleep up there so it was ONLY a storage for me. The Ford 7.5 ay have more power but because of weight difference an aerodynamics of the Dodge it actually does much better AND on gas too. The Dodge is just as good a condition its just dirty and the 2 small dents in the back are nothing but a days work and $50 bucks in materials. No problem.
I am looking at both those RVs now. I am going to tour the Pleasure Way soon. And I am trying to get a tour of the Coachman but the woman hasn't been very responsive. Funny enough the ones I am looking at are the other layouts of these. The coachman has the dinette in the back instead of the bathroom and the Pleasure way has the more square looking back instead of the two couches side by side. Since you have been in both, maybe you can help me out. Looking back which one of these would you prefer? I am a gamer. I want to put two 300 watt solar panels on the roof if I can. I want a space for my computer. I am fine with just a toilet rather than a whole wet bath. And i am 6 feet 200 lbs so I am not sure I would fit comfortably in the enclosed bathroom or on the Coachman couch or the Pleasureway bed. So which one of these did you like more? Whichever one you chose, do you regret it after some time with it or were you relieved or do you think you would of be just as happy with the other?
Kudos to you man!!!! If Pleasure way really made a widebody of that, I need to look for 'em. Because what you have is a damn nice Class B. Still lookin' for mine though.... Anyway, peace!
Thanks! Yeah Pleasure Way & Xplorer make a wide body. I think there is one other one too I forget. I would love a wide body and longer extended one 21 ft. That would be nice!"Thanks
Nomadic Assyrian Elvis Van Dweller HAHA I worked in a body & paint shop for a few years. I know EXACTLY what it needs. Plus I am the one right in front of it looking at it. Believe me.
Well for one thing it's newer, then for all that I've heard it's one of the more reliable rvs out there nobody talks bad about them, apart from this I think it has a better floor plan than the Ford, nicer shower, fixed bed, really cool looks if you put in it all you put in the Ford it's a sure winner without a doubt, go for it
Jose Pacheco Yeah I think I am keeping the Dodge. It just works better for me. I love my Coachman but the Dodge just has a better layout for a big guy. THANKS!
About cops and vandwelling... If a cop knocks on the door and you are in the back. What do you do or say? What about the option of pretending no one is even inside at all and holding your breathe? This is my biggest fear about starting this lifestyle. If i get arrested or something, then i lose the whole lifestyle maybe because i could lose my job in the process. Thanks. I am seriously considering starting a vandwelling permanent lifestyle, but i cannot help but fear arrest, massive tickets, or even just having my license plate being documented after being caught and be in their database as a camper. You see, i want to live in a cargo van for the stealth, but if i could slip by the law unnoticed, a vehicle exactly like the one in this video would actually be my first choice. Thanks!
***** You make some great points! I do not boondock very often at all in city limits. I alway find a spot a ways outside the city and drive in when needed. Same goes for work, I would still boondock outside city/busy areas that way to avoid people and law enforcement. And just accept having to drive a bit further for work. This way to avoid any issues with law. I have never been interested in coming in walmarts or parking lots or neighborhoods so this would not be as much of an issue for me. But I definitely understand what your concerned about. Thanks for watching buddy!
The Ramblin CamperVan thanks for the reply. yeah, we'll see what i end up doing. if i could find any backroads that it seems like "no one ever" goes to then i would park there. hopefully i can find those roads. peace!
HELP my 1999 pleasureway exel , the original tv was working fine until I pluged my 12 volt vacum in the socket behind the tv the vacum ran for one sec then stoped so I pluged in the tv and its not working where is the breaker box iam thinking I triped it when I ran the vacum can you tell me how to fix. thanks love your channel.
Keep this one. Its need a little tlc but it would be worth it. I really like watching rvs and camper vans. Those little van you can barley move around in. No offense to van dwellers. They looks like sardine cans....
Nomadic Assyrian Elvis Van Dweller Hey Elvis, I don't like Ford in general just due to my experience with them over the years, but I love the overhead sleeping quarters on the Ford and the tiny tub :-)
Hi , great video, can you tell me how to swivel the front seats iam having great difficulty with them , I just purchased this rv 7 days ago I would appreciate some feed back thanks
John Howton There is a lever underneath the front of seat, Pull lever at the same time as turning the seat around. Sometimes they need some force to turn. Good idea to try and grease the seat to make it easier. Thanks for watching!
7:08 How important is mileage to you on this Dodge Van? Not wanting to be a "Debbie Downer," but the odometer looks suspicious to me. I'm certainly no expert, but I believe all digits should be in perfect alignment except the one just to left of the nine. The FOUR is sitting high, because it is to the left of NINE and about to roll. Maybe it's just the camera angle, but shouldn't all the digits of "082" be in perfect alignment??? What mileage does the interior show? I hope I'm wrong, and forgive me for being a "know it all;" just don't want you investing too much time/sweat into the wrong vehicle. You certainly know a lot about RV interiors and systems. Do you know how to read mileage from the condition of undercarriage bushings and steering components? I don't, but there are many mechanics who do, and old timers know what a rolled mechanical odometer looks like. There are a ton of crooks in the world who make an easy $500 on flipping a vehicle, and all they do is set take 100K off the odometer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mg9rS7SOHEk.html
birdwing98 Yeah it must be camera angle or something. I bought it from the second owner who bought the van in 2000. The owner is 85 and I know her so I'm not worried about the mileage. Thanks for the info!
Pendejo Yeah I hear ya. Its a lot of weight to carry around so they put bigger motors and they have a bit of towing capacity as well. But better fuel mileage would be nice though. Thanks for watching!
