My kind of place,NO WI FI!!!!,( I graduated from high school in 1968) need I say more? I was in Puerto Angel just down the road in 1976, ate at a communal table with 50 other people,everybody sharing their food,drinks and other "goodies" No social media,only social interaction.

I was there in the early 80's. Ate magic mushrooms at the table where you enjoyed the soda, tripped in the room you turned down (back then it was a shack with no plumming. The meditation cliff was where the owner's (Gloria from L.A. Ca.) house was. There was a burro by the beach and mosquitos carrying malaria. The beach was nude with tons of Europeans. Sensational.

Nice video. That little cafe was so sweet, perfect place to chill and absorb the peaceful vibe. Wondered if the prices were also 60s prices? I stayed in San Agustinillo for a month, nearby, visited Zipoleti, as well. Stayed right on the beach, in a turquoise colored room, above a cantina. Unforgettable time.

Stayed at Hotel Gloria in spring of1979. Gloria's was the only "hotel" on the west headland of the beach -- actually just a collection of a few large huts. On the opposite eastern headland was a small 20 room hotel. On the beach were only two small huts that sold beer and tacos --nothing else, just wild horses running up and down the beach In 1979 beer was 3 pesos or 30 cents each. Made several saves in surf of swimmers in trouble in the two days I stayed. The front of the bar was the entrance to Hotel Gloria's -- slept in a hammock hung between front posts -- great for sunrises.

Gabriel that was a great video on Shambhala. It brought back many memories. I see that some of the comments are from travelers like myself that also stayed there long ago. My visit was back in the late eighties when Gloria still owned the place. It seems like the 70s vibe hasn't changed. I had a pretty intense experience there and wrote a novel about it: On The Road To Shambala by Mitch Powers. Although fiction, most of the characters and events happened reflecting the place and time. Thanks for bringing me back.

Hey Gabriel,great vid as ever,the place looks cooler than the other side of the pillow & I want homemade lemonade now! :0) . Inspired in no small part by your earlier vids & @ the ripe old age of 47 I've actually got my shit together-Tickets booked,jabs done,Visa received & I fly out of Heathrow with Jet Airways in about ten days for Delhi & a three month adventure in India,my first time! I've a 90 day IndRail ticket,sleeper class,I'm gonna spend three nights based in Paharganj then off on the overnight train to Varanasi for a week or so,then maybe Rishikesh..no rigid itinerary-jus gonna head where the mood takes me- I wanted to thank you for planting the seed in my brain that will hopefully grow into an awesome odyssey,heh heh-. I cannot *wait* and I'm so excited I could *pop* 😄 I'll be vlogging it on RU-vid & spreading the inspiration. Thanks again bro,big love from the UK 🙏👍✌️

jim blim Right on, that's awesome, glad to hear it. You'll have a blast for sure. One thing is you might consider going to Rishikesh first, then Varanasi. Rishikesh is relatively close to Delhi, so it makes more sense in terms of time and distance. But, obviously just go with whatever you feel like. Also a big issue to factor in at this time is the heat. It's going into the hot season now, though it won't be unbearable yet at least. So it's a good idea to go to the more southern places you want to visit now, then head for the Himalayas as things heat up. (In which case, maybe it does make sense to head for Varanasi first, then go north to Rishkesh and then further north from there.) Dharamsala, Manali, Almora, Ladakh, Joshimath, Gangotri, Mussoorie, Parvati Valley are all good places in the Himalayas to check out (in different parts of the country but anyway there are a few places to look further into if you want). Glad to be of inspiration, have an epic trip man!

Reda Kisieliute It actually did. :D I never got round to vlogging it though lol . That first time I spent three mind blowing weeks in Varanasi, wandered the back alleys of Lucknow & disappeared into the green valleys of Himachal, along with many other adventures. As soon as I got back home I started planning my next trip & im up to seven now! As soon as we're able I'm planning on a new trip..I really fancy the Bay of Bengal coast and the North East for a nice cup of tea. In the comments section I've been threatening to meet Gabriel for a masala chai in Parharganj for about as long as I've been travelling to India 😂 - you're welcome to come along when it eventually happens👍👍

17 bucks a night for a beach stay... Jeesh. Here in cali it's 30 bucks a night and bring your own tent lol, and sleep amongst a few other hundred campers.

i stayed here 2 weeks late 90s. my favorite place in mexico. lots of hot euro girls. noisy beach, so far south the sun came up on left side of beach and set on right. like a cresent. some weed etc. never seen police on beach. very hippie vibe.......... 2 different bus trips here from oaxaca city. 2nd class thru mtns on old road. cheap. rumors of bandits on this trip....... 1st class on new highway safer but a lot longer........... .seen people sleeping on beach every night. i really have good memories want to go back

Interesting deserted corner of Mexicana; very nice tour. But, no Wifi? whoa -non negotiable ;)
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 9 лет назад
culturehorse Yeah, one of the first places where they haven't had wi-fi, it's pretty much a requirement, even in the middle of nowhere in Guatemala, etc.. But I guess it kind of goes along with the "no drugs, no alcohol" rule there, the idea is to be more spiritually focused, meditate instead of using the internet. But, I got stuff to do!
