Just when I think I've seen all the different things you can do in a small space, someone comes along who has raised the bar. This little build is like a Swiss Army Knife. Thanks for sharing, Bob. I learn a ton with each and every one of your videos.
Fantastic build. Working a full time job, she has the ability to invest a good 50% of her pay into investments that would provide her a good income well before retirement age, especially living in a high cost of living/high pay area while she maintains a low cost of living. If someone 18 years old did this, he or she would be able to retire by 40 with an ever increasing income from just a portion of the interest due to such an early start.
This lady shows how much “stuff” most people feel is necessary but really is not. No rent real estate taxes or lawn maintenance etc etc. Most things we acquire adds stress and unwanted responsibility to our lives. You go girl!
I absolutely *love* that she decided that having wardrobes and clothing and "stuff" was indeed important! It makes me think there is hope for me after all. Yay!
Remember, she is a young lady still working in an upscale city. She needs to look prosperous and pulled together. Plus it is who she is! Thanks for showing us who you are. No one will criticize you for being a "stripped down model". But it is not the only way to roll. There is room out there for all of us. That is why Bob takes so much time to show all kinds with their rigs!
I am so proud of her. I think she's really just showing us what we are all capable of. She said she did this with 2 saws and a drill and didn't even have any building expertise... just incredible! She knew what she wanted and needed to live happily and she went for it. You go, Kicks!
My mind is blown! I was once a service plumber and worked out of different trucks/vans. The amount of "stuff" this woman has fit into her van is awe inspiring. Her van could rival even the oldest, most organized service plumber's van. She could design small boat cabins as well. That made me think. Have you ever considered interviewing/touring small boat nomads?
It was the final straw in my van build and reason I went to Ikea for the rest! 😂😡😤🤣 it nearly broke me. Tears were shed, blood was lost, some words were said
@@kickinasphalt This is a Fantastic build ! Lots of great ideas, I just got my first van, in the process of the build !! What a great job, incredible storage !!
@@kickinasphalt thanks for your honesty about how hard it was to build🙏 I am praying to build one to travel and see all the states w my 18 year old daughter. You gave us courage.
My mom did a version of that noggle idea in the early 70’s when she looked a vacuum cleaner hose up to the heater and forced air to the back of our station wagon. Too bad she didn’t patent her idea then.
She’s not alone. I think many people have tried some version of this and we are all kicking ourselves for not patenting the idea 🤦🏼♀️ but one lady did and she’s laughing all the way to the bank. Good for her!
I understand her not wanting to put the interview with more details about her life posted online. She is an attractive woman living in a van likely visiting the same urban neighborhoods regularly and there are weirdos in the world. I'm very impressed with her van build. She is a delight.
Composting toilets are out - DRY Toilets are IN. Get some horse pellets- (its what is used on the floor of horse stalls ) Tractor supply or a farm supply will have a 40lb bag for less than $8. It lasts about a month. Absorbs the moisture doesnt smell and just throw the bag away everyfew days!
@@kickinasphalt Oh how I wish you would make videos or something teaching how you did your van I want to use your ideas. You have one of the most creative and efficient uses of space I have ever seen in a van!
I’ve probably seen 697,546 van tours and this is in my top 5 favs! She sure knows how to make use of every inch but it’s still cozy and flowy. Great job, I love your build 🤩
THIS IS BRILLIANT! Holy moly, I'm so impressed with her organization and complete usefulness of everything - soooo practical and I love her ingenuity. The "window frame" actually being murphy bed legs - wonderfully creative. WOW! ps: the fireplace is killing me lol (in a good way)
Always interesting to see these builds. No matter how many we see there’s always something different and new in most of them. The magnetic shower curtain was new to me, and a great idea.
I was really stunned and amazed by all the creative ideas that Kicks used in her van. Really inspiring to have so many double functions for so many parts of the van. Really WOW. Thanks very much for sharing Kicks and Bob!
I've been looking at van builds continuous for the last few years and without hesitation I can say this is the best build I've ever seen. You made it lovely and practical. You've inspired me, thank you for sharing.
This is such a well-thought-out design. I loved how she made sure to incorporate a closet and plenty of space for her shoes and other clothing...then a faux fireplace to disguise it! This has got to be one of the best van builds I have seen to date!
What an amazing build!! Some was expected after watching so many videos... but her BED was a complete surprise! The heating cooling tube idea remarkable and showering area very well thought out... I must say she has more shoes and clothing than I have seen in most van builds, so that part also very impressive! Thank you for sharing this one, I think it's always going to be in my mind when I see other builds... It is for sure a leader to measure all other builds against! More and more I am seeing value in Van builds and LESS in big Class C campers.
wow, so many great ideas and new answers to old questions! And everything in that van lives - here lives my inverter, here lives my fridge ... amazing!
@@kickinasphalt just a little bit of teasing - but I found this truely one of the best van builds I've ever seen as well as one of the best presentations. Respect!
A truly remarkable van build. Usually, when people decide to custom build a van interior, they imitate other peoples ideas and modify them to fit their own ideas and the van. She seems to think outside the box. Her ideas seem quite unique to her lifestyle.👍
she's done a great job with very ingenious ideas. I don't know if I could be bothered with the shower though. For me it would be quicker and less hassle to just have a full body wash. I love the idea of having a full length closet. Blocking off the side door is a great idea.
Too bad I can only give one like, this is the THIRD time I watch this video, incredibly built this lady did, I would love to copy her built but I'll save some space with the "closet and shoe rack" LOL - YES BRILLIANT!
I have been studying van life and comparing it with truck campers, trailers, and tents for almost two years now trying to decide what would be best for me if I ever made the decision to travel extensively as a retired person. My wife and I would be traveling together and we both require a lot of space, so that pretty much rules out living in a van for us, but I still enjoy looking at the different build outs and the clever designs of van life pros. Of all the videos that I have watched this is by far my new favorite, this lady is pure genius and if I were traveling alone I would definitely want a van with this design adjusted for the corrections that she has suggested. The simplicity and cost effectiveness of this van would fit into almost anyone's budget, but I think that she may have been a little modest about the skill set required to recreate what she has accomplished. Few of us are that handy nor can we engineer something that looks so perfect. Much respect to Kicks and I would wholeheartedly suggest that anyone wanting to get into van life study this concept carefully, it is next level for anyone who truly desires freedom and a simple and independent life.
She really thought the design out. Fantastic design. There's so much I love that she did it's hard to pick just one favorite thing out. Thank you for sharing, her design is awesome and inspiring. 🦎💜🦎
@@kickinasphalt I totally love it, you did an amazing job. I am not very handy but I just completed my 7x14 cargo trailer camper conversion. well 95% complete, but I am living in it full time now. Thanks to Bob and his team and many others on creating awesome ideas. Be safe out there!
Just fabulous !!! I planned to shower in similiar way but did nt know if it would work well . But the magnet shower curtain with pop up laundry basket is perfect !!
I am completely in awe of people like this charming young lady, and I see so many incredibly creative people on @CheapRVLiving that I feel both inspired and incompetent at the same time!
Of all the van builds that I have ever seen and believe me, I have looked at at least fifty plus. This is the most clever build and well thought out. Thank you for giving me some great ideas. I am on the road to van life and your video was extremely helpful.
Love her van. I had an attempted break in by the back doors which was fully exposed by parking lot lights. The slider was in the dark. Thankfully they didn’t expect someone in the van to scare them off.
@@kickinasphalt Holy cow, you look so youthful!! And such a wonderful, sunny disposition!! I really admire what you have accomplished, and so much more to discover!! Stay safe, hope to see you out there one day😊💜
It seems every time i watch another video the creativity gets better. I guess they learn from each other and improve on everything! The magnets for the shower curtain was genius!
She'd make a good consultant for ladies you and others do van builds for each year - great advice! She has her living space the way she needs and wants it to be.
This is perfect for stealth living in the City with enough storage for fancy clothes for work or the opera. However she had to sacrifice windows which I dont think I would do if I were just traveling. I'm so glad to hear an honest opinion about the compost toilet which really doesnt compost. I do wish she would have told us where she dumps her waste. I'm amazed how she did this with minimal skills and tools.
The skylight makes up for lack of windows. And I have rear door windows as well. I double bag and dump waste in any outdoor public garbage can or dumpster.
I can do that!!! Hell yea!! I don't know if you've heard of this turn before.. But I am now in my quiet quitting mode at work. I literally I'm just floating along saving money for my future as a nomad. I love this setup she has for her Van very very creative.
I am very impressed with the ideas and execution of this van build out. Best female build-out I have seen. And impressive amount of storage for clothes, which I can see is a big part of her life, kind of like my wife, she loves her clothes, they are her hobby.
