From 1973-1976, I and my family lived in a Spider House at 12-A Alpha Street, Benictican, Republic of the Philippines. We loved the house and the outside was well taken care of. Just an easy life with a view of Subic Bay and could watch ships moored and coming and going. We had a wonder maid. The yard boy did the yard, washed our vehicles and did repairs. The only problem was that the "White Lady" was seen several times by myself, the wife and the maid. When I was assigned to the house, I called the previous owner who was transferring to California. He indicated that there were strange happenings in the house but didn't want to talk about strange occurrences. We stayed there but the walking around the hall ways at night, closing of doors and the crying of an old lady was disturbing but we learned to live with it.

I did the USS Kitty Hawk 73-74 and the 1975 cruises. I was on the beach det in '75. At the time I heard the "White lady" ghost story. A little spooky if you believe... These were the USN married Officer's on base housing. They were titled over to the RP government when the Navy left. The Philippines have a huge opportunity for foreign investment if they open up. I don't blame them after 300 years of Spanish colonial rule and another 50 years of US rule they have a guarded view of foreigners. The Binictican story could be repeated all over the republic. God Bless the Filipino people.

Thanks for the video. A true night and day difference vs. the greater Cebu City area, where I typically am based when in PI. The roads, lack of litter, and general lack of people everywhere. Very nice.

Binictican and Kalayaan are 2 of the really good villages in the country. Really laid back, safe and so relaxing. Nice thing too is theres a Brent in binictan and the golf course also. Great community to live in.

My US Navy uncle and his family (born and raised in the Philippines) used to live there for several years before the US pull-out. Our whole clan used to visit Binictican for reunions. I had fond memories during those visits as Subic at that time really felt like you are in the United States. You will see Americans everywhere. I was only about 10 years old that time. My uncle even said that, in some ways, Subic is even better than some US Navy bases in the mainland. I think I don't see the same houses that my uncle used to live there in Binictican. It is up and down housing but different families live on the ground floor and 2nd floor...it's built like 2 separate houses, the 2nd floor has its own entrance/stairs going up. I also remember that once, we visited NAS Cubi point and I was in awe to see for the first time, a vertical take off and landing (VTOL) jet landing! Thanks for this tour....it's really nostalgic for me while watching. 🙂

The main road area between Kalayaan Housing and Binictican Housing sure has changed. My family and I lived on Grouper Street in Kalayaan Housing. I had friends who lived in Binictican and I loved those "spider houses" in that housing area. Left Subic August 1992, just before the U.S. flag was lowered in September. The place was a hot mess just after the volcano in 91, but looks like the trees have grown back very well through the years.

My dad was stationed at Subic Bay and we lived in Binictican, 61 Mango St. from 1973-75. There is so much vegetation that has grown everywhere that it's hard to tell the streets and houses. Thanks for the video. It would have been nice if the street names were called out during the drive. Thank you. Gary Wells

*Edited - Did you say Leasehold? How does that exactly work as I know that you can't purchase property unless you are a citizen (or if it's a Condo under certain requirements)? This video made me smile as I lived in Binictican from 1969 - 71 as a child (lived on 5th Street, right next to my old Elementary School and Base Swimming Pool. Man, this video took me back, and one day I will revisit the area. Thank you for this! Right past the playground on the left hand side of Binictican Dr, there was a Base movie theatre for the housing area. I'm sitting here watching this video and the memories come flooding back. The nice thing about the area is how peaceful it sounds (even with the Cicada noise) :D

I lived in Binictcan in 77-82. My dad was Navy. I’m now 44. I lived on Acashia street. I probably misspelled it. Can you please go down that street. I also remember a small and big park side by side down the road. Also not too far is the community pool and shoppette area. Can you show

I lived on Acacia Street too, from '78 to '82 before my dad got transferred to Lemoore. I'm 45 now. I went to Kalayaan School for Kindergarten.

@@BK_gamer_ We would had played with each other at that time. Im same age. Known to climb trees, and collect beetles. Cant remember the address number. Think my parents had a brown older style Mustang. Parents were Norma and Lonnie Smith. Played at the big and little park down the street all the time. Cant think of anything else that would spark your memory.

@@KevinSmith-oz5oz That would have been cool if we had played together. The name isn't familiar. My last name is King. When going up Acacia, my house would have been third or fourth on the left. If memory serves, it was 26A, on the left half of the duplex. I have paperwork somewhere that has the address. Red Mustang. I remember a girl on the Acacia named Teresa. She was in my Kindergarten class. Miss Robinson was the teacher. I don't remember the parks, but we went to the pool a lot. Good times.
@KevinSmith-oz5oz
@KevinSmith-oz5oz 2 года назад
@@BK_gamer_ Gotcha....If you're turning onto Acasia from the park side, my house would be 3-4th on the right. So probably across the street from you. I would go through that house backyard to gain access to the jungle area behind. Also another good access if going to the school/pool/tennis court, and movie theater.
