Kiddyland looks amazing but it's made me realize I know very few Japanese characters. I'd love to see you do a video on the Fuji Q Highland amusement park as well! Thanks for making such cute/informative videos. I always appreciate them.
I think often characters become popular in Japan, then later on we get to know them overseas if they're really popular (Japan is a bit ahead!). It's the same with fashion. I've actually not been to Fuji Q Highland, but if I do go I'll certainly make a video! :-)

I see Miffy (@8:41) is now also a thing in Japan after things kinda settled down. You gotta know that there has been a big war between Dutch original 'Miffy' and her Japanese counterpart 'Hello Kitty'. For decades Sanrio denied they based Hello Kitty off Miffy (original Dutch name: Nijntje...being short for 'konijntje' meaning small rabbit), but truth is they came up with Hello Kitty in the year Miffy made her appearance in Japan in 1964, while she was created in the Netherlands in 1953. Sanrio wanted to give her a more British feel, so they changed her into a cat and called her Kitty. To make a long story short:after decades of battling the creator sued Sanrio, the court ruled the creator in his favor in 2011....a monetary settlement was made, which was donated in it's entirety to a fund for Japanese tsunami victims. Don't think this battle is over for now, because the family members of the creator Dick Bruna (who passed away in 2017) are still fighting over the violation of creative rights and intellectual property with Sanrio. Just to give you a background story on The world famous 'Hello Kitty' Thank you ever so much for this very entertaining video.
Interesting.... thanks for sharing, I didn't know about that! They do look remarkably similar. I used to have the Miffy books when I was little. Hello Kitty's such a huge brand, that's a massive battle to take on! I've seen Miffy stores elsewhere in Japan too so she is clinging on!
I didn't find this store but a smaller one when on holiday last month and I loved it. If I get to go back I'll definitely check this one out. RIP my future money.

A note aside, when I first went to Japan, (last century, lol) I went to Snoopy Town on the bottom floor of Kiddy Land and bought a T-Shirt. So it's been there for a REALLY long time. Oh wow I didn't realise it'd been there for a long time! Always seems kind of strange to me to see which western characters become popular in Japan - the strangest has to be Thomas the Tank Engine, and there was a Thunderbirds cafe at one point! Enjoy planning your trip! :-)

Yes, now I come to think of it, that is surprising! I did see Sailor Moon merch in its own shop, there was definitely one in the basement of Laforet.... I think it might have been more cosmetics etc.

Yes I think they have it at Kiddyland! I've seen a Sailor Moon shop in Laforet department store in Harajuku (basement level). Also check Yamashiroya, a toy store in Ueno (they have lots of character goods). As Sailor Moon's so popular you'd probably spot other things as you go around eg in make-up shops, etc. Happy hunting! :-)

He didn’t find a pass holder but he did eventually get a phone case that holds a Suica card! The best ones were in the Tamagotchi shop (sadly shut down now!)

There's lots of kitchenware in Kappabashi (I have a video about it!), but I'm not sure if they have them there. You might be better off looking for an antique shop.

Yes there was a little Sailor Moon section! (If I'd included everything the video would have been 8 hours long!) :-) They do switch around their displays but Sailor Moon's so popular I think they'd always have something. There's also a Sailor Moon store nearby in Laforet department store. @@cakeswithfaces Thank you! I went last year to japan with my Boyfriend and was looking for Sailor moon stuff but totally walked passed Laforet lol did not know they had a sailor moon store and probably walked passed this place also but we have new places on the list for next year!
@@VampireXDi That's the thing - you'd have no idea what's in there from the street! There's so much I've missed in Japan in the past (and I probably still do miss a lot!). The list of places to go is never-ending :-)

Also when we came back home we looked on youtube at videos of japan and found there's a hotel in Shinjuku with a Godzilla room with a giant Godzilla head on top that breaths fire every hour :D So next year we are going there and hopefully get the room

My mom and dad went to Japan in March thought as something else never seen before all ways thinking of ideas for next future pls they brought me some Bts stuff at Korea town but they said wasn’t much of kpop in Japan that so that was Weird might go in future really want to go famous mountain how far from city 🗻🎎🎌🇬🇧

Some people speak English but not everyone. Generally it's not a problem when you're shopping, because everyone knows the procedure - but it always helps to learn a couple of words of Japanese; a quick "arigatou" is always appreciated!
