I often get asked about how I store my collection and what is my set up like for doing repairs and other projects, so I did a walk thru video that I think answers these questions and also shows off the gear.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a message or leave a comment.

Thanks for watching. In reality, it often times smells like leather conditioner and moth balls. 😂

I had a set of Cooper Reactor 1 pads, blocker, and catcher when I was younger. I started playing in 1991, and I first wore vintage brown cooper's the league had before I had my own set. They were all black with a blue triangle with the 1 inside. I have poster size photos of me when I was playing with them. My next set was Bauer Reactors 3. They were blue and while. I'm using Vaughn V3 full set right now (all blue with black), but I'm getting a newer Vaughn V9 set soon. This will be my first set with all white with black. I love those old Cooper pads, though. My knees don't like them anymore.

So you are the one with those two Badger Elites I've been eyeing for months! Nice setup of gear!

I had a trapper and blocker in Green and black Cooper 5s, I sold them in 2000. That's the only other green and black Cooper 5, I have ever seen.

90tpi very cool. Do you recall anything that might be an identifiable mark on the trapper? Would be cool to know if this was previously yours.
@90tpi
@90tpi 4 года назад
Sorry no identifiable marks. I was working at a Play it again sports and a fella came in with them. He said, he special ordered them to match his team. The place he bought them from asked for 100% deposit because the color combo. It took 5 months for them to arrive. In that time frame he received a hockey ending injury. So, they were never used. I bought them. I was in the middle of tryouts with a Junior team and I used them for only 2 of the skates. I made the team and sold them because they were not team colors.

I should add, I was and still am located in the Atlantic Canada. So if you had an idea if it came from this way. Then it's a good chance.

Excellent! I have a "few" more Reactor setups added to the collection since this video and 3 of my next 4 videos feature different Reactor sets too.

8:00 That Cooper GP3000 pads is the style that will always be in my heart. All black with a small number on the boot. Along with that style matching gloves and blocker

I’m happy you enjoyed. One of these days I’ll do an updated tour. A lot has changed over the last few years.

There's also about a dozen or so sticks out in the garage that are either too modern to qualify for a place in the goalie cave...or are project sticks that I still some day need to get around to repairing. I also have a healthy collection of player sticks that are out in the garage on racks. Some very nice old vintage sticks, and a variety of other models.

The boot liners on my workbench are currently in the custody of Glenn Miller as he is working on designing a new model of liners to be usable with Lange, Micron, Bauer Turbo, etc. skates.

Love all the gear and your show. I’m in the market for cooper old school mid 70’s late 80’s gloves gm 21, or 20 xst trappers and waffle as we called blockers. I started to play in senior league. I have old beat up gm12 set which I would to replace. Also if you could recommend lightest set of pads. With all your gear maybe you have something to sell or point me in right direction to find the gear. eBay, picclick etc.. just haven’t had anything. Thanks Pat DiAlto
@CooperGoalie
@CooperGoalie 3 года назад
Thanks for the comment Pat. I don't really sell any of my collection typically. My first suggestion would be to join the Vintage Goalie Equipment facebook group as there is always a variety of gear for sale there. Other than that, it's just a constant searching of facebook marketplace, craigslist, kijiji, offerup, ebay, etc. For ads that don't specifically say they'll ship - you just have to reach out and ask them if they will. Always pay with PayPal Goods & Services option too as that will protect you from a scam seller. I usually add on 4% to the amount when I do that as a goodwill effort of me covering their seller fee from PayPal.

Interesting collection indeed! It's a pity though that your camera is constantly moving and shaking which makes it quite difficult to get a good view of the items. Why not make separate videos with gloves, helmets etc.?
@CooperGoalie
@CooperGoalie 6 месяцев назад
I have hundreds of videos here now that show the collection. And this tour is quite old. Been moving and reorganizing things for some time and keep planning on doing an updated video. Hopefully soon I’ll be in a position to do that.

@CooperGoalie

This video is a few years old and there’s a lot more gear in the collection. I don’t think I’ve counted complete sets. One of these days I’ll do an updated version of this video.

2 questions What is your favorite pad to play in and why? How are the GP-Pros? I always wanted those pads when I was a kid!
@CooperGoalie
@CooperGoalie 4 года назад
Sorry for the VERY late reply! My favorite pads to play in are actually one of my sets of 1950's Kenesky K444 (with no outer knee roll ala Gump and Bower). Once or twice a year I'll strap them on and pair with early Cooper-Weeks mitts and fiberglass facehugger. That's my favorite because it's something not many people can do, it gets a lot of reactions, and it's just darn cool to be able to wear that old stuff. GP-Pro's are nice pads. Very lightweight compared to the other Cooper gear. The straps can be a pain because they have a clamshell style clip instead of a buckle.

What kind heat transfer vinyl printer do you use for your jerseys etc?

I have a Cricut machine and typically use Cricut SportFlex or Siser Easyweed Stetch vinyl

Are the Chicago coloured reactor 5’s Belfours or just the same colour scheme?
@CooperGoalie
@CooperGoalie 4 года назад
Retail versions of Ed’s pads that he colored in with a black marker. And they actually did a good job of replicating that look in my opinion.

Hey love your videos. Picked up a first gen cooper sk2000. How do I tell the size and are these helmets really hard to find
@CooperGoalie
@CooperGoalie 4 года назад
Christian Chin thank you! I have a couple videos specifically about SK2000 evolution actually. Part 1 is ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WyCLx9BmAhc.html I think you’ll find the answer and a little more info there. SK2000’s are really hard to find in general, but 1st gens aren’t the most common available.

Love your videos! I just scored a cooper GM20 pee wee blocker, do you happen to know if it's sized as a sr or a jr model? Thanks!
@CooperGoalie
@CooperGoalie 2 года назад
It's more of an 'intermediate' size. I believe it's technically a full size blocker, but the palm is for a smaller hand.

he should be refurbishing and selling for top dollar - since that vintage stuff isn't being made anymore, the supply is low. demand takes time to grow...
@CooperGoalie
@CooperGoalie 2 года назад
I appreciate the thought, but trying to do that for a business would take a lot (if not most) of the fun out of it for me. Plus, there are much more capable folks out there that offer gear refurbishing services than I could ever do.
