Like 37 👍 Hello from Naples, Florida. An awesome tour of Sandos Playacar Resort. We had not heard of the resort until now. Thank you so much for sharing this part of the world with us
Hi Larry, we are having a question. Thanks for this video btw! We want to go to Sandos Playacar (with a baby 1 year), is the family area near the beach? Or is it a long walk...
The family area is furthest from the beach. The trains are fairly frequent. When our grandchildren left we moved to adults only as it was such a long walk to the beach
From the family suites it is a bit of a hike. There is a golf cart train that regularly will give you a lift down there. The pools down by the beach are worth the work. Have a great vacation
Hello Larry thank you for your video. We are from Kitchener Ontario Canada. We are travelling to this resort next week. We hear it is difficult to get reservations for the restaurants. Do you have any recommendations?
Download the app before you get to the resort. It is easiest to get into the steak house and the Brazilian so if you can get a reservation for one of the other restaurants early in your vacation go for it. We also did just show up at some restuarants when we couldn’t get a reservation and just ask if someone hadn’t shown up. This worked about half the time we tried it. We were there with our adult kids so if we really wanted a particular restaurant one day several of us would try booking throughout the day until one of us got a reservation for enough of us. This worked once or twice as well.
We really liked the French and the Italian. The Asian was pretty good. The Brazilian and Steakhouse-- service was great but overall underwhelming. The buffet was actually quite good -there seemed to be some pleasant surprises every meal. Usually the specialties are the best -but at this resort the buffet was a positive surprise.
At this time (a few months ago) they were required when you were entering a restuarant or when you went up to get your food at the buffet but now-where else -within the last month we were at resorts in PV and there was not requirement to wear masks at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of Mexico is like this now
There was a lot of seaweed and it was blazing hot so we didn’t spend a lot of time on the beach. Usually we spend the most time on the beach so I think it was such a change by the time we left I realized I hadn’t taken a lot of footage of the beach
The resort is right on the beach. However the resort is huge. The adult only rooms a a quick walk to the beach. The family rooms are the other side of the resort so with small children it would take us 15 minutes to walk thru the resort to the beach. They did however have a golf cart train that takes you all over the resort
I’d love to hear your thoughts comparing the two, we are going to one of them with kids 11, 15, 17, 19. Love the adventure idea of Caracol but worry about the food and beach there
Swimming in the Cenote at the Caracol was amazing. The wildlife there was great as well. The beach and the food were infinitely better at the Playacar. No comparison. The pools at the Playacar were better as well. Being able to walk to playa del Carmen at the Playacar was really nice as well. I would go back to Playacar before Caracol
The entertainment area is a nice open air venue. Our son and law took the older kids to the show one night and he said it was great. The kids got photos with the performers
