Hey man I love to see it. Very cool video is ther any way you could do an update soon? This video is 2 years old now so I was wondering what kind of ongoing maintenance you have to do that you didn't expect or you don't think others know about. Also do you get sediment accumulation in your flood and drain?

Hi, thanks.. Yes the system is still pumping out plants on a regular basis and from time to time we do post photos on our FB fanpage. Maintenance is of course ongoing, pipes and valves break, water leaks, pumps stop working, etc. So we keep on fixing these and also pre-empt some of it. No sediment in our flood and drain as we pre-filter all solids before water enters the grow beds. We have not had to clean our growbeds in over 6 years.

This is a very impressive system,kindly enlighten me :what media are you using g in the grow beds? What do you use to test PH,ammonia,nitrates,hardness and others.Am in Botswana i cant seem to find the right test kits.

Does the water flow from fish tanks to grow beds under gravity? Or is it a split flow from sump to grow beds and fish tank?

Split Flow. Sump to Fish tanks and to flood and drain beds. Fish tanks to DWC beds is via gravity. Then gravity to sump

We built a flout siphon which works best on larger media grow beds and very easy to build.. Do a search for "flout siphon" on google and you will find many resources.

we have 2 air blowers at around 300 watts each and two water pumps at 250 watts each, plus a backup air pump of 100 watts. Air blowers work for around 12-16 hours per day

correct, there is a pipe interconnecting all 3 grow beds so that the water level on all 3 grow beds remains equal

You dont need filters if you use sand as media...

This is aquaponics, not Sandponics, so you need mechanical and bio filtration depending on the system design.. In sandponics, the sand acts as both a mechanical and bio filter..
