I love the fact that you gave the facts. No fluff, no loud overkill. I am old and I can not stand all the noise that goes with these van tours. Stay focused on the tour. You were excellent. If I didn't have a van already you could have sold me on this one because of the pleasant and quiet way that you presented the features. Much success to you and your channel. You definitely have a new subscriber. 👍👏😊
Hello Richard, Congratulations on the purchase! Sounds like you got a great deal. I just released a video today of the 2023 Thor Scope 18M you may be interested in seeing. I am looking forward to hearing about some of your travels and Thanks for Watching!
I love the way you show the features of this remarkable unit in a friendly, matter-of-fact way that makes me feel like I've explored this RV myself. I like how you don't try to tell me what I should or shouldn't like about it as some reviewers attempt to do. I can draw my own conclusions based on your video and descriptions. Thor has packed a lot of livability into a van small enough to drive and park pretty much anywhere. Thanks for showing it to me.
Thank you so much for the compliments. This is one of my favorite layouts as the rear bath is a great size and it has a good setup. The only downfall is the bed, which is not very big and not so easy to pull out. Thanks for Watching!
I've watched a bunch of videos on these & gotta say that yours are so well done. Manufacturers should monetize you because you give such good information! Also watched a couple of your PDI's. Those are so thorough you could sell a service of accompanying buyers on their PDI!! I just signed for a 2022 Scope 18M last night & your walkthroughs have actually been a selling point!! Thanks for giving attention to the little details that are important!
Todd, Congratulations on your purchase, I wish you great adventures! Also, thank you so much for the compliments as they really mean a lot. I am glad that you found my videos useful! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the review. Nice to see the generator is now properly installed. I understand that no review can cover every single feature that an RV offers. Having said that, where an RVer can sit and eat seems like a must mention item. I really appreciate the detail you provided on the bed.
I agree, I like this layout as the rear bath is relatively large but most couples find the bed size too small and do not like how hard it is to make it into a bed. Thanks for Watching!
They should offer the bed area with a slide out. . What really surprises me is that nobody has considered bringing back the floor plan of the Winnebago Rialta on either a Ram or Transit platform
Congratulations on your purchase! I am looking forward to hearing about some of your adventures. BTW, I just posted a video on the 2023 Thor Scope 18M you may be interested in seeing. Thanks for Watching!
What should should be done to move the trim level up. First spare cassette for the toilet. Two shades for the rear windows in the bathroomThree , an opening window in the kitchen. Four a 2O inch tablet. FIVE blue tooth. Six wifi extender. An upgraded sofa, preferably with an optional slide out that would be a game changer. Have been looking at one of these , not as an entry level but a weekend and short stay travel van. Some potential here, but a work in progress
I was debating between a Thor rize or some type of Winnebago product. I know all RVs will have problems at some point but I’ve seen a tremendous amount of issues with Thor due to lack of quality control. But at the same time I feel like they give you more bang for your buck compared to Winnebago, feel like I’m definitely leaning more towards this unit.
Hello Eddie, I completely understand and I think you are struggling with the same question many other ave asked themselves. Thor needs to improve their QC but so do many other RV manufacturer. Thank you for supporting my channel.
@@fruitvibes i know, I’ve seen multiple videos of multiple things going wrong in a Thor so I’m highly aware of what I’ll be getting myself into. Besides the issues they are the most affordable that I’ve seen.
Few things scream cheap. No tv, but multiple hdmi and cable hookups. The sliding entry door should have a sliding screen door not a tent screen. The drink / cup holders look like they wiil go flying , should be flip up and down like in a car/suv. The table should be able to seat more and be used full length if the couch. Don’t see blue tooth listed.
It may be entry level , but $80k plus isn’t cheap, so they should include what should should still be standard equipment. Precovid , the Travato was considered entry level and included theses features. It is mainly the size , not so much the price that makes this unit appealing.
this is great! I have watched so many of your videos- than you for going through this van- like the 18 T0 does this one have storage under the bed..I am guessing it doesn't but thought I'd ask
If I remember correctly there is not storage under the couch/bed as the seatbelts, air ducts, breaker box, electronics are under that area. Thanks for Watching my videos!
They had to move the generator it was too low, and bottomed out . My suggestion would be to put it in the frame likecthe old Rialta, or at least surround it with a protective case or cage . Would also have locking gas cap
I agree. This is a 18' RV that has everything that you could need for a great adventure. The layout makes this RV feel spacious and the bathroom is a great size. Thanks for Watching!
Although the bed is a bit small for 2 people, this is one of the best priced NEW entry level RVs that you could actually "off-grid" camp in right now as it has a wet bath, generator, propane (stove), solar, 1000w inverter, and refrigerator. The Ram platform with the suma springs makes driving this RV much better. If you can find one with the 2022 Ram platform you even get the new 9 speed automatic transmission which is also a great improvement. Thanks for Watching!
Thanks for the video. So other than relocated generator (which is super good ) any other updates ?? And another question. How many hours works ac with generator without car is on.? If you know ? And also heater ?
Yes, The generator relocation was needed and I am not aware of any other changes. The generator runs off of the same gas tank as the engine so it can run a very long time when the gas tank is full. Thanks for Watching!
Pretty decent layout. Rear baths always a plus because they're bigger. Only thing that's not a plus is the couch is also the bed. That's not good because you'll have different people sitting on it, then you have to sleep on it and there's always the possibility that you may smell something. 😥😥. Good review keep up the good work. You'll probably get tired of me I comment on everything. Stay safe and peace to you. Ps; don't forget to say like and subscribe at the end of your reviews.
I do like this layout however to make it work the bed and couch have to be one and the same. I think the bed needs a complete redesign as the bed system is awkward and somewhat hard to assemble. BTW it's always great to hear other people's opinions and thoughts. Thanks for Watching!
It is low to the ground however the grass is making it seem lower than it really is. The generator has been moved to a better location (better than early models). Thanks for Watching!
You can contact Big John at La Mesa RV in Fort Myers FL, he can help you. His cell number is 407 535 1104. Tell him Ryker Mom sent you. Thanks for watching!
I have watched many reviews of camper vans and so far I have not seen one built on the RAM chassis that comes with Navigation whereas all in the Ford Transit do have it. As a single traveler, not having Navigation on the display screen is a dealbreaker for me. I will never understand why a vehicle specifically meant for travel and costing $80K plus can’t put NAV in. If it is an available option I haven’t seen it yet. Just an observation.
I believe Thor does put an aftermarket entertainment system in some of their Ram platforms however I have found that using my phone (Waze) plugged into the sound system works better than most navigation systems. Thanks for Watching!
John, it really depends on the size of the people, how close you are willing to snuggle when you sleep, and how many days you will be on the road (LOL) ! The Sanctuary 19P has a much larger bed and plenty of room (think Queen size) for two people whereas the 18M is more of a full size bed. Thanks for watching!
To me the front grill of the Ram has always came in third compared to the Benz & Ford but the Ram always seems to be roomier in the inside than the Benz?.. the Thor name to me now Screams Terrible Quality
Interesting observations as I also think the Ram platforms are spacious however I do prefer the Mercedes platform for its ride comfort. Thanks for Watching!
thanks for posting. Curious what the solar can power versus what needs to be run through the generator? Is the salary/battery able to run most of the electronics or is it moreso just the cabin lights/speakers?
When equipped with the AGM battery, solar, and generator the battery can run the lights, water pump, refrigerator, and a single outlet that is powered through the 1000 watt inverter. The microwave and AC require the generator or that you are plugged into a 30amp outlet. Thanks for watching!
The pop top requires an AC unit designed into the RV instead of being on the roof which changes the interior layout. I am sure it is possible but the current layout of the 18M would probably have to be changed significantly. Thanks for Watching!
I really like the layout and Yes, I have had a few minor issues with my Thor but nothing major. I have found that Thor's customer service has been responsive but unfortunately most parts are on back order so patience is a must. My recommendation is to conduct a very thorough PDI and do not sign any paperwork until after you are satisfied. Thanks for Watching!
Issues I have seen, gas lines and water not connected, control panels not functioning, generator dragging on road, all never should have been shipped in those conditions
What they should offer is a an L model with some upgrades like a slide out for the bed, standard entertainment system, convention microwave, better material for couch, maybe matching the front seats . Should have a window that opens in the kitchen area, sliding screen door
Michael, you are correct. I wish I could get my money back from Thor. I have been dealing with so many warranty issues, it's ridiculous. I keep telling everyone to avoid these and I tell Thor that I am on a mission to tell everyone that as well. This is my 9th RV and my only brand new one, and it has come with more problems than all the other ones combined. Some of the issues are so ridiculous like that crazy bed has a rounded corners and you've got four cushions coming together right under your hip, leaving a large hole. Thor refuses to address that problem. How ridiculous considering the price. There's been multiple recalls.
Hello, most likely that particular unit has been sold by now but you can contact BIG John (407)535-1104 at La Mesa RV to find out about purchasing one. Thanks for watching!
I am disturbed that so many of these RV's have very low road clearance. If I were to have one, (as I used to with my VW Vanagon Camper), I' would be taking the car off road to camp, where the ground is not even and there are many rocks, and many times I would be doing this in the dark of night.
