Thank you for doing this! In 1969 I was stationed at the USN Degaussing Station in the middle of Norfolk Bay. There were 50 men stationed there. Every lunch interval we watched the only show we wanted to see....reruns of Bewitched! A new arrival once tried to change the channel and we said: "touch that dial and you'll lose your arm." LOL Many of us left and went to Vietnam, some never came back. To us it was like being back home. I still love watching this show. Now I feel like I've actually been there.
Thanks for sharing your story, and serving our country! I stared watching the same time as you, my mum would let us girls watch it (only) after doing our homework, making our beds and chores.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Ha, i never thought of it like that. Good point. When i was a little boy back in the 60s i noticed it immediately as my mother had a replica of this painting in the living room. I still have it hanging in my bedroom to this day. Take care
I love bewitched❤🤩🧙♀️ i love the House conception. The furniture from season 1-3 are very cool, even today 🙂 The Papa bear chair from Wegener and the couch are my favourites

Me too. I always swore I'd live in a home just like it. Never did, but I do have her front door. I chose it just because of this show. There's just something about this home. 💗
"I Dream of Jeannie" was essentially a rip off of "Bewitched" by a rival network, NBC. "Jeannie" was created by Sidney Sheldon, who shamelessly stole ideas from "Bewitched" including having Barbara Eden wear a black wig, much like Elizabeth Montgomery did, when playing "Serena." Both shows were produced by Columbia/Screen Gems, that explained the use of the same sets, according to Bill Asher, the cast and crew resented "Jeannie," Columbia eventually had to fire Sheldon, and have him replaced, Asher provided a video taped interview which can be viewed at the "Emmytvlegends," website.
I've never been a fan of I dream of Jeannie because I always kinda felt & know it was a wannabe/ RIP off of Bewitched. In Bewitched the woman had power, knew how to use it wisely. In contrast to Jeannie had power but always seem to create problems, she was just frustratingly ignorant. Barbra Eden is still beautiful but I still think Elisabeth Montgomery was gorgeous.
Greg Rak I remember thinking the same thing when they were popular tv shoes. I dream of Jeannie wasn’t nearly as good as bewitched, although I did watch it never cared if I missed seeing it playing if I were doing homework etc
I thought it was just me who was obsessed with that house! 😄 It was such a beautiful house. I always wanted to live there. Thank you so much for creating this virtual model. 💖
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane omg! Me too!! I always (and still do) plan to build it one day if I become rich! 😄 I am currently preparing to build my modest little house, and have put the green bewitched door as my front door (even though it doesn't match anything else on my house design!) 😄
Just found you Marina and loved this! I always adored this house and growing up in the 1960's I find the repeats of the show and seeing this home comforting now, especially during the difficult times in this country of late. Brings back great memories!!
Marina Coates, thank you for doing this. You've brought to life a beautiful place that was filled with smart, fun people that for me was a childhood (...and remains so in "adulthood"...) respite and escape.
I've never seen your videos before, and this was pretty fun. I didn't catch the "Easter eggs", I was a kid in the 60s and didn't pay attention to details like that but they were fun. One of my favorite childhood shows. I was sad when Darren changed, but all the shenanigans and laughs helped to keep that sadness away. Thank you for sharing such a FUN video. I'll be checking out more..
Thank you. I loved this show and home since I was a little girl too. And, I remember when Darrin changed as well. I am working on the upstairs right now, then it's on to finishing the rest of the original Parent Trap ranch house that I started. I was only about 5 but I have the best most fond memories of Bewitched! I absolutely loved it and I wanted to be Samantha a housewife and mother with a good husband. Life didn't turn out that way but there's always Bewitched! :-)
I'm working on Part 2 of Bewitched right now, where we'll go upstairs and to the backyard. Then it's onto the original Parent Trap ranch house that I started awhile back. This year I plan to do I Dream of Jeannie, The Partridge Family, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley and the Monkees.
I've always loved the Bewitched house, if I ever win the lottery I want to build one. Its such a beautiful house. Thank you for showing this as I've always wondered what the parts in side the house would look like that we don't see.
I'm glad you liked the tour. I'm working on part 2 now - the upstairs and backyard. But, if you want a sneak peek of the tour of the backyard, you can see it on my Instagram account listed above in the description.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I know it didn't have one but I'd love to put a beautiful sparkling blue pool out the back with a diving board. I think that would make it perfect.
Ms. Coats, You did a great job on the Stevens home first floor. The last season of Bewitched Samantha and Darren had just completed a 1970s redecorating job. That redecorating had been the only one in the script except for the very first when Endora and Samantha toured the brand new house trying our furniture, etc with witchcraft. The last season redecorating mentioned in the script, "Endora popped in and raved about the new colors, etc chocolate brown, the new shag carpeting, beautiful new brown sofa, etc" Hardwood floors in the dining room and foyer with braided rugs working with the classic 1970s colonial. Chocolate brown was hot in 1970s interior design. Each of the other interiors including the avocado green carpeting, had simply appeared with no comment no explanation. Endora loved the new look and so had fans, viewers BIG part of the popularity of Bewitched had been the lifestyle of the Stevens family, cocktails included. Kevin
Marina I am blown away how great this tour was---marvelous attention to detail (I saw Samantha's gazebo out back!) and my gosh I had NO IDEA so many changes were made to the house & so frequently! I DO remember the drastic change to things when Dick Sargent replaced Dick York, but I thought that was just to distract us at the time, haha--anyway your friend David Peirce's closing comments were so spot-in; this WAS one of the few tv houses that felt real because we saw things from every angle--plus it just had an awesome layout! Loved the show (you picked out a good season) and LOVED THIS. A+++
DOUG; was,. Spot on.... THAT, is what I love about. *SAMS House. The house was real... Not like scenes from other shows that looked fake even as a kid#####
I loved Bewitched as a kid. I wanted Samantha to be my mom. Sorry mom ! I was fortunate to meet Elizabeth Montgomery in 1979 at a shopping mall in my city of Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦 Love your videos !
Did you know all the actors had to wear their own clothes except Sam & Derwood? I saw a interview just recently with Agnes Mooreh talking about how she had to wear her own cloths and the brooch she wore was hers and was one her only jewelry that was real. It was a gift to herself and was proud of it....
Ann J me too! In our neighborhood we even pretend to be the characters of the show. And Julie the girl who lived across the street from me always played Samantha. She was older. Would make me so mad. But we played anyway. And when it was time for Bewitched to come on 📺 we would run to one of our homes and never take our eyes off the tv screen until it was over. What a life. I was born in 1963. And I guess I will always love Bewitched. Makes you stop and realize just how much this show influenced us as children. And in a good way. I say all the time I wish I could just twitch my nose and my house magically be clean. Lol. Take care! Leslye
Cabin Life at Eden Springs I was born in 1967. I can remember playing Gilligan’s Island with friends. I got stuck playing Ginger and I wanted to be Mary Ann. 😂
@Robert The Bruce I did the Munsters part 1 this last Halloween and will do part 2 this upcoming Halloween. I'm thinking The Addams Family will be at a Halloween time too somewhere down the road.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane This channel seems to have positively affected a lot of people. Do you have the connections to contact the Asher "kids" and ask them to contribute their comments?
My mother was expecting at the same time Samantha was. Since my mother felt positive that I would be a boy, my name was to be Darrin. When the doctor told her I was a girl she told him, ' Check again!' Maybe this is why I always felt connected to this show. Thanks for posting!

I always loved the Bewitched house . I use to dream that my dad , my mom, my little sister and I could live in a house just like this , but unfortunately it never happened . My dad passed away when I was 10 yrs old . I remember some of my dad's sisters and some of my mom's family having some things that were similar to this house, but not exact . I love this channel !! It always puts me in a great mood . Thank you for reminding me of some great memories and great dreams I use to have . I love it !!
Same here. The house always looked to have a certain charm. Styling still looks good but some goober house flipper would redo everything in that generic "corporate" look.
This was so much fun 😊. I watched every episode when it was on. For some reason I remember Darren 1 & 2. They continued as though there was no difference. Their Little Girl, Tabitha 'Erin Murphy' was adorable. Thank you, I felt like I was visiting 🤗. JaneLee - in Suburban Philadelphia 5/29/22

I grew up in the 70's...Bathrooms weren't that much of a deal back then. Nowadays houses have 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Back then, we all had to suffer with one bathroom. All of my friends houses had the same thing. One Bathroom, usually upstairs.
Bathrooms maybe, not toilets. I was born in 69. We had two full upstairs bathrooms and a half downstairs. And three bedrooms was the norm. Now it’s four bedrooms with four bathrooms.
I often wondered why there wasn't a bathroom on the main floor, considering how much everyone drank in this show.. LOL. I learned that the outside of this house was also used as Clark Griswald's childhood home, which can be seen in the old movies that Clark watches while he's trapped in the attic, while his family left him to go shopping
I love when others get into the details of these homes. I'm working on Part 2 of Bewitched right now, where we'll go upstairs and to the backyard. @@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Quite frankly, bathrooms were nearly non-existent on TV until the 70s. Beaver's bathroom became prominent on ABC as Wally became a teenager, and bathed more often. Tony Dow and Jerry Mathers stated in their Sirius XM interview overlayed on their Complete Series compilation that the pet alligator episode (57-58 season) was where the baby alligator was kept in the toilet tank. CBS freaked a bit over the episode's use of the toilet. Censors demanded that the camera could only show the toilet tank lid and no more. That was 1957. Apparently TV characters were exempt from normal human functions at that time.
Actually there was a downstairs bathroom, it was accessible from the office (on the side of the entrance hallway). In one episode you see Darin who has been working all night freshen up before going to work. He has a shower in there.
I used to have that print. I think it came from Imterior Decorators or some mail order catalog. Threw it away, then years later saw it on the show. Wished i had kept it now
I like how that man explained what happened to the kitchen in the last two seasons saying a fire broke out on the set and a new set had to be rebuilt. I was wondering what had happened.
Working on part 2 now. I have a little sneak peek preview of the backyard on my Instagram, FB and Twitter accounts, if you're interested. Links are in the description above.
I've wanted someone to do CG representation of 1164 Morning Glory Circle for the longest time. Bewitched has always been my favourite '60's comedy TV show. I'm sure I'm going to rewatch this and the subsequent videos a number of times. Thank you so much for making this happen. 🙂
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I also wanted to thank you for revealing the name of the painting in Stephens' hallway - "The Girl with a Broom" - I've been looking through art books on and off for years trying to find it. Another one of the world's mysteries solved. ☺️
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Yes, I'm sure that had to be the case: it couldn't be just happenstance. I do hope the painting didn't perish in the fire. (I'm almost sure it was replaced quite a while before the "makeover") To me it was almost as iconic to the show as Samantha's heart pendant.
I have watched and made a comment b4 but just seeing this again reminds me of my desire to know what other parts of the house looked like that they would never show
I'm working on part 2 of The Parent Trap and dealing with that question right now. We're shown several interesting rooms, but from the exterior only. I'm taking the things we do know - the dimensions and where windows were, etc and then creating the interiors.

OMGoodness. You dared put a kitchenaid mixer in the kitchen when Samantha was definitely a Sunbeam gal. The Sunbeam model 12 is an icon of that era, modeled after a jet engine, and also echoing Samantha's flight. It was just as important a symbol as the Frigidaire Flaire.
This episode is my favorite! Have you ever watched a show soooo much that you actually begin to think you’ve been there? Well this house and the Brady house were that kind. You answered a lot of questions like the necklace Samantha wore, the name of the painting...Girl With a Broom. I never knew how much the decor and floor plan changed over the years! Thank you for all the wonderful memories you give us who grew up with such wonderful TV shows! 🙌🏻💕👍🏻🥰

Love this house when I was alittle girl I always wanted this home They used this house also for the movie Brian's Song I'm sure they used it for others too Thank you this was great
I wonder if the address has any meaning. I know their first day of shooting the pilot (I believe it was the pilot) was the day Kennedy was shot. That was 11/22/63 (1163). So perhaps it's an homage to the one year anniversary of the pilot being shot? Because the address is 1164, according to your video. Anyway, great video. Thanks for putting this together.
Elizabeth Montgomery knew JFK. I remember learning this from a biography television special about Elizabeth Montgomery. They shut down production on the pilot the day JFK was assassinated.

I really enjoyed this video CGI tour. The Stevens' home set of "Bewitched" remains an iconic artifact of that bygone era. We always have to keep in mind while looking at this show: this set is based on a period of home design and technology that predates the first Energy Crisis. Some elements would likely be different if a home of this size were built today. One element that was never explored then but likely would be now: using the basement as living space. If a house of that size were built today, the basement would likely house the kids' bedrooms, a playroom / 2nd living room / entertainment room, and also probably Darrin's den. I agree that the house lacked at least a quarter-bath on the main floor. That would be mandatory today. One element of the show I forgot: that dreadful shag carpeting. That would be a major dirt attractor. Another element of that era I will never miss.
Glad you enjoyed the tour. I remember the shag carpet era. smh. You can see all of the other TV and movie homes I've finished here ru-vid.comvideos?view_as=subscriber

Another great video! I enjoy these so much. Along with the other paintings you mentioned, at 4:26 in, there's a pretty famous painting of Sir Thomas More. Also, I'm glad you highlighted the stove, as I've always thought these were really cool. You can find some fun RU-vid videos discussing these. I like that you track the changes to the sets. That's one of the things I always like learning about. Looking forward to the next part1!
Of all the art work hanging on the walls I remember most of all the (Attributed to) Rembrandt "Young Girl With A Broom." 12:32. Nowadays many scholars believe the painting was by one of Rembrandt's (Carel Fabritius?) students or contemporary imitator and not the great master himself.
Thanks, this was really cool. I've always wondered about this, especially the patio and back yard, maybe because there was so little shot there. I never realized so much changed so frequently. Perhaps that helps explain why there is so much interest? The confusion sort of keeps you guessing? In thanks, and at risk of sounding like a jerk, I will share the following; In french, -er is almost always pronounced -ay as in "way". Thus, foyer is pronounced "foy-ay". Thanks again, great work.

You have clarified for me something that was never clear in the series. From your model which clearly agrees with the wide shots of the actual set we see that the stair case opens to the door and the banister rail looks out to the living room. But due to some cheating done by cameras or editors, or even possible moving set pieces, I was always confused about the actual position of the stairs; whether they were as you have show them or turned 90 degrees. It always seemed to me that the hallway that went back towards the kitchen was parallel to the main part of the stair case. This would be impossible in a real house but not in a witches house. LOL. An example might be a scene where Sam "acts" as if she is looking towards the front door at someone who has just entered but the camera is facing up the main part of the stairs which was facing the living room. So in actuality while she was playing as if she was looking towards the front door, she was really looking towards the living room. There are enough times things like that happened that left me always confused as to the actual layout.
Is it possible for you to create the modern version of this house like you have the stills on Pinterest??? The rooms are absolutely GORGEOUS! I'd love to see them as a walk through
Okay, I'm "shook" as the kids would say nowadays. I was born in 1972. I had no idea that was the last season of "Bewitched" or that the first two seasons were in black and white. I remember watching "Bewitched" all the time as a kid. Little did I know then that I was watching all RERUNS!

nice! this is excellent - easily my favorite tv house :) you got the kitchen remodel dead on with the staircase to no where, it was crazy even though i did like the nook add-on - i could go on about why i like it so much - basically i guess because for a magical "fantasy tv show" the house seems real/believable/attainable to me - also worth mentioning even though i'm sure you've been told a billion times is - there is a real, although reversed BEWITCHED house in santa monica california (not sure if the interior of the real house is a similar situation like the real 'brady bunch' house - it being completely unrelated to the tv show) thanks again- enjoy! :)

Love your channel!!! My favorite piece, you show it here at 0:04, is the armoire to the left of the front window. Oh, but that armoire as seen in early season 1!! I know it's colorized, but what a piece! It's a blend of light tan wood colors with purple florals and I've never seen anything like it. Then suddenly one day Gladys catches Samantha rearranging pictures on that wall and convinces her that it was her (Gladys) that was doing the magic. Then we almost never see that fine furniture piece again! Where did it go? Does David know, perhaps?
This was his reply, "That wall saw many different uses whether it was the armoire, pictures, the bar, and one time a piano...it was just dressed up for whatever the episode called for. As for the whereabouts of that particular piece of furniture I’m not sure where it ended up."
I LOVE the "Bewitched" house! (And your rendition of it!) I think part of the reason it's so popular is because it's so cozy- you feel like you could really live there (and with all the magic, they did make use of every room). I don't know if this would be possible, but it would be really cool if you could create a RU-vid 360 version of these for Google Cardboard!
My favorite house on TV. It seems to be more true to real based on the outside. I would build this in a heartbeat and move right in. I love everything about it. The stove in the kitchen would have to come too. I liked when they had that wall of shutters in the living room on the way out to the patio.
😅I am in shock. Growing up in Brazil in the 60’s and leaving in an old, very small falling apart home, never imagined that I wasn’t the only one admiring Samanta’s house.
