Hello everyone, welcome to my channel. Like so many others, my lifestyle changed due to the pandemic.
Before the pandemic, my families lives had become so hectic & busy that there never seemed to be a good time to travel anymore. Somewhere along the line we realized that our last vacation was in 2011. We decided that it was time we made some travel plans.
Then the pandemic hit! I no longer wanted to travel by plane or stay in a hotel. We decided that a bettter and safer alternative would be to travel in our own vehicle, one that we could also sleep in, cook our own meals in, vacation in. The rest is history!
However, the RV shopping process is not easy and required a lot of research. I want to share what I have learned along with my ongoing experiences and adventures through my channel which offers:
RV tours / walkthroughs
Camping destinations
Hiking
RV modifications & DIYs
RV Cooking
And much more…..
So I invite you to come along with me on this ongoing RV journey.

Nicely done. After looking at the various offers from Thor and Winnebago, I purchased a Tofino 3 months ago. The quality, openness and simplicity won me over.

Hello Ralph, Congrats on the purchase! Pleasure-way does have good quality and I did like the openness as well. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel!

Are you still happy with your Tofino after 9 months? Where do you stow the toilet?
@ralphkeith2905
@ralphkeith2905 6 месяцев назад
@@Patrick_Ross yes, very happy with it. I purchased an ottoman that had soft foam inside. Removed the foam and use it to cover the toilet. Fits the decor and looks like an ottoman/seat. I keep it in the van all the time. My brother is looking to purchase the Winnebago Pocket. I like some of the Pocket's features, but don't know that it's worth the substantial additional cost. The Tofino is no longer being manufactured. I don't know if Pleasure-Way is replacing it or just discontinuing the lower cost units.

@@ralphkeith2905 - thank you for the detailed response! The ottoman sounds great for toilet storage and this old geezer definitely needs a toilet! Is your brother considering the Pocket 36A or the new 36B with bathroom? I’m seeing new 36A’s for sale as low as 88k, which sounds like what the Tofinos are going for. I do like the 36A’s Murphy bed and larger storage area.
@ralphkeith2905
@ralphkeith2905 6 месяцев назад
@@Patrick_Ross HAHA...this old geezer agrees! He's looking at the A. We both like some of the features of the new B, but the bed situation is a deal breaker. WOW! For $10k more than the Tofino, I'd honestly go for the Pocket 36A. It has A/C, roof fan and I like the dedicated dinette and separate bed. Also, I've got a 2022 chassis and the headlights are horrible. The new chassis has LEDs with a better headlight design.

Hi Ruby, thank you for the nice presentation. This looks like a very good quality B-class RV van, but for the cost amount some important options are missing. It’s always good to see you!
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 Год назад
@yyzz1959: True...but I think it's more of how you intend to USE a particular type/model of RV that would dictate what would be the "best" fit for that "mission." And of course, in hot or cold weather (meaning 3 or a full 4-season use if camping in it). Yes, if you want a "full-amenities" Class B, a "basic camper-van" like the Tofino wouldn't be it as "options" WOULD be "missing." ;-) For ME however, it'd be quite suitable as I'd use it differently than a "real" (!) Class B mainly because THOSE would priced WAY higher than a Tofino and I wouldn't NEED (or even want) those "full amenities" (overkill). SO right up front I'd save what over a "real" Class B -- $50K at least? Or maybe $70K or more? I'll take it...and pass the savings along to ME. ;-) I see the Tofino and other basic "pop-top" camper-vans (yes, I call them camper-vans instead of Class Bs, to make a distinction between the two, as I see them more like the old VW Type II Transporter (split front windshield!) camper-vans of the 1960s or the late 1970s VW Westphalia (but LARGER!). "Camper Vans," not quite Class Bs as we know them today. IMO... So I see these "motorized pop-tops" suited for people who: 1. Make long-distance road trips but stay in hotels each night along the way. BUT, if they feel like driving further but then later get too tired (not safe to drive) -- they can always stop at a Rest Area/Walmart (or other "safe" spot) and get some sleep, then move on afterwards. Sometimes I can drive ALL day long, but other times? Not so much. So in the latter case I can always stop and get some sleep -- can't do that COMFORTABLY (or at all really) scrunched-up in my CURRENT long-road-trip vehicle (my truck!). Then, when they GET to their destination they ALSO stay at a hotel...so they don't NEED a "full-amenity" Class B (or ANY such RV, be it a Class B or other type) as they get a room at night...which for some reason DO have "full-amenities." :-) 2. Something like a Tofino is WAY less expensive than a "real" Class B, so more people could afford one. ESPECIALLY if they want to have only ONE vehicle, so a Tofino would not just be sitting around (or stored at a facility) and only occasionally being used: It'd be used regularly as it ALSO would be their Daily Driver. Yes, why not have a small van as a Daily Driver? And it'd be easy to get around town during the week and park it where any full-size pickup trucks could park. 3. Using a Tofino like what is is: A "camper-van" vs. a real Class B, Meaning, take it on long weekend camping trips. And as Ruby said, you can use a RV park's restroom/shower facilities (if you need to shower EVERY day, even during weekends). Of if boon-docking (aka: dry-camping) out in the sticks, use "other restroom facilities" (!) or take along something like a Thetford toilet. It's only for a weekend, maybe a 3-day/longer weekend, so you're not going to be out there a week or longer. If I were to get a Tofino (and I'd prefer a pop-top/camper-van from Pleasure-Way (p-W) vs. most other makers (including Winnebago with its Solis -- no thanks) due to P-W being clearly better-made and IIRC -- and besides P-Ws being better made (workmanship, materials used, etc.) P-W has one of the best warranties in the RV industry. Again, *I* would use a Tofino for: -- Daily Driver, my one & only vehicle (and only ONE vehicle to insure, maintain, get vehicle registration for, etc.)...just like my truck now. -- "long-road-trip" vehicle (intrastate or interstate) but each night getting a room at a hotel. Or, just drive on -- whatever I feel like doing at the time. AND, carry a Thetford toilet in the rear "cargo area" -- just in case! -- long/short weekend camping trips within maybe 100 miles of me, so more like "local camping," if you will. That's about it... Now, If I wanted to LIVE in a RV -- and in a Class B in particular -- for sure I'd get a "full-amenities" Class B...but for what I'd be using it for, a camper-van like the Tofino would do nicely. Happy Travels, -- BR

Hello Bill, I completely agree that the Tofino would be great for those that want a camper/travel van that can also be a great daily driver. Thank you so much for sharing your detailed insights on this RV. It definitely provides an understanding of how this RV can be used and who it is best suited for. Thanks for watching my videos! ☺️
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 Год назад
@@Adventure-Mom Thanks...and I didn't even mention that even if I always stayed at hotel each night on a long road trip (and at a hotel at my distination) -- as said how I'd be using a "camper van" like the Tofino -- the price savings of a Tofino over a larger & "full-amenity" and WAY costlier "real" Class B (what, around $50K more expensive at least?), well, I'd say $50K would pay for a WHOLE LOT of hotel stays. For example, if hotel rooms were $100.night, then $50K would pay for 500 nights. I'd NEVER be able to take enough road trips and stay in enough hotel rooms to "use up" anywhere close to $50K -- or 500 nights! And I'm fine with that... ;-) Happy Travels, -- BR
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 Год назад
BTW...IIRC, the Tofino is a "4-Season rated" RV (well-insulated)...but as already noted it has no AC, so Summer camping in AZ or humid East Texas (just 2 examples) would be hard, even at a campsite with electric hookups as you still have no overhead (coach) AC. But road-tripping/camping in Colorado in the Winter? No problem, as it DOES have a heater. So for me (hoping to move back to CO in 3 years) a Tofino would be fine. But maybe Pleasure-Way will listen to people and ADD an AC by then. ;-) If so, then the only OTHER major issue would be a bathroom... -- BR
