I think personally you might be happier if you find one of those specialists and get that note on your medical record. It's a trend I've been noticing with many people with mental disorders, that absolute confirmation helps people feel better about it. The "I've thought this for so long" seems to be the same across the board. Obviously you've got other priorities at the moment, but I think it would be a good idea
Yes! And we're talking about a syndrome that has been revisited and revised SO many times as it is within the last few hundred years. I definitely had "things" in childhood, but didn't have the explosion until after 18.
