Tourette's Syndrome Documentary 

My son has Tourette’s and 3 years ago (when he was 10) he had several strokes due to his neck tics.. He had to learn how to walk again etc. He was getting so bullied at school that he has been unable to go back for about 4 months now. Please people, please be kind to one another.. ❤️❤️

I’m now 35 and was diagnosed with Tourette’s when I was 7. Explaining it using the word balance is spot on. I used to stretch my wrists. The best way I could explain it was, i need to balance my wrist stretching to a 10. if I stretched my left wrist to a 7 and my right wrist to a 5 I’d stretch my left wrist a 3 and my right wrist a 5 so they both reached a balance of 10 and they felt as though they’d been stretched the same.... hence the word ‘balance’.

What a fantastic documentary. Excellent presentation Paul. I feel my 'issues' with tics have made me excel in areas where many fail. I can do things endlessly that may drive others insane; you only get good at things through repetition. Professionally, I am extremely driven to finish and fix things. I've found that if I reroute my energy into things and not into tics, that it helps. Nothing makes the tics fully disappear or suppress sadly, they need an exit. Physical activity seems to help.

One of the most 'dead accurate' explainations of living with TS from both a child and adults stand point. . I absolutely LOVE his wit in dealing with his TS. It just so happens that is the way I deal with mine. I choose education thru humor. I get it, TS can be hilarious! I love to joke and laugh about it in the right circumstances with the right people. Those who know me and 'get it'. I've always loved acting, and being behind the scenes in a theater. Unfortunately, I've never had the opportunity to share my TS thru that genre. The fact that Mr. Barrett combines both his TS with theater is something I could watch for hours.

I discovered this channel the other day and have since watched many videos. Congrats on your great work raising awareness on so many illnesses and mental disorders. If you're taking suggestions, it'd be great if you did a video on OCD (which is closely related to Tourette's incidentally) a disorder that is unfortunately not taken as seriously as it should be and made light of. Thanks guys and keep on doing the great work you're doing!!

I am 60, and I have been plagued with Tourette's since I was a toddler (back when they thought it was a mental disorder). I still have many problems with it, and it still extremely disruptive in my life.

Just watched this, it's probably one of the best features on Tourette's that I've seen. My childhood back in the 70's was also a comedy or errors just like Paul Barret. The part I related to the most was Paul's mom trying to get through to his father to say "we should do something about this", and the dad just reading his newspaper, completely not interested. ^^ Ooooooh boy, that was my family too.

I have had in involuntary physical ticks that mainly involve weird facial jawl movements that i have tried to hide since i was around 15 yo and when anyone seen me do these weird face movements they say wth are you doing what is wrong with you?? My children have also seen me do these and i just try to deny or change the subject its so embarrassing for me but after viewing all these othee people who also have this and worse going on I know i am not alone however I have never seen a doctor or been diagnosed with tics or tourettes syndrome

for my kiddos with tics (from a teen with tics) the more confident you seem and the more ok you are with your tics the less people will bully you

I have lived my whole life being undiagnosed with Tourettes. She'll not faking. When i watch her, i see her doing 4 different things at the same time. Rolling her head, rollinh her eyes, swearing & giving the bird. After a lot of discipline, ive managed to disguise one tic for another, basically making a tic appear as a stretching of my neck. I feel for her, shes beautiful inside and out. I only wish i could have grown up without it, i might have gone a lot further in life.

I have the urge to do facial tics especially when i am under stress and start thinking about things that give me anxiety

I am really terrified to be diagnosed with tics or tourettes syndrome because no one else in my family has this so I feel ao alone

When I was in Preschool I had the EXACT same turning tic, I think its quite common ig. Ps when I first found out my brain wasn't like *average* I didn't joke about it lol

I remember growing up, I used to clap my hands twice and smell them. Sniffing and made a noise. It's bad. But when it was time to go to high school, I trained myself to ignore the urge of tourretting till if fade way. But left with the sniffing which also I can control. If I tell my mind to not do it,then it won't happen.

And this is my husband. The turning and turning again to make it even.

If modern society knew what darkness is and the truth of the human condition. Society would know not to reach for toxic things.

Wish I could afflict everyone with TS for a few days, so they can all experience the tremendous suffering people with TS endure. It is the worst disorder on the planet; I'd rather have cancer and die from it than live a long life with TS. There is NOTHING worse than this wretched disorder, especially combined with OCD or ADHD, and combined with the social stigmatization, constant stupidity from religious hypocrites who think you're an evil sinner who's been cursed or blah blah blah and the severe depression that often follows from having to deal with this. The fact that it can pass down genetically has given me more than enough reason to consider not having kids so that they won't run the risk of having this as well. You'd think Christians would be the most open-hearted, understanding and caring when it comes to horrible suffering and disorders like this, but instead it's the complete opposite; they're the biggest frauds and phonies ever, no better than the pharisees...

I don't mind but they had to learn the swearing from somewhere!!!! so dirty potty mouthed excuses for those ones
