Honestly no matter how rich I was, I would never want a house this big. It just feels so empty and bland. And no offense but as a European there's no way this would fool any European, this feels American and fake as hell
I absolutely agree. I think this feels extremely fake and "nouveau riche", to any European or well traveled person. No attack on the amazing work that you guys at Austin flipsters do :-) It is just impossible to replicate the patina of time.
This place would be perfect for a fancy bed and breakfast or even like a wedding venue or party venue. Edit: I just heard them mention it is a venue residence lol
what's a venue residence? This 11m is way better than that lake side 11m house. I could totally rent this out as marriage hall or an event place. This property is definitely worth 11m if you plan on keeping it long term but not as a home. People saying this is ugly are straight up blind.
Its beautiful and ugly at the same time. Beautiful craftsmanship but just so unrealistic for a "family home". Makes sense to just fully convert it to a wedding venue!
Lincoln, FYI, in Europe thar outside structure is known as a "folly" when made of stone. Gazebos were historically made of wood. On this side of The Pond we peasants tend to lump them all in the latter category.
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but when I see these rich fancy homes with all this marble and stone and archways with intricate detail etc... it just makes my eyes feel tired. How would you ever rest there? Like the Palace of Versailles. Too decorative... Too busy for me to even imagine living there, as if I ever could anywayslmao, but would be cool to visit just to see.
I agree. It’s a museum, not a home. And these large places never ever age well. This is a money pit waiting to happen. The upkeep alone would be astronomical. Fine place for Bezos to stay when he’s in Houston. Or maybe Elon Musk is looking for a new home. Just nope. If I had a billion dollars I would not buy this place.
It’s not an unpopular opinion... what you said is reality 👍 Simple human won’t feel “Home” for these types of architecture 😁 They are rich and elite showing off their money. For me personally, even a picture perfect apartment itself not a place to live.. I love to have the home more lively than picture perfect😊😊
This house represent US perfectly. They think they really did Smth, when in reality this Hause is hilariously putting diff timeframes together and it is horrendous. But the audacity to put the Versailles in a sentence with this monstrosity is lack of common sense and taste.
All looks a bit "Las Vegas" to me - so far over the top it's down the other side! The other comments about taste/use of money etc say it all. The original French chateau architects and builders would be turning in their graves if they saw it.
Agreed... Trying too hard to look like something it simply can't be. Especially since "European" doesn't mean anything as typical Spanish, French, Flemish, Swedish, etc. houses are super different anyway. I'm glad the future owner loves it, but it's simply just expensive bad taste to me.
That's a castle in the thumnail... the exterior is acceptable, the interior is whiffy. Noticed in the comments a lot of people don't understand the difference between pretentious and gaudy...
It’s very interesting looking and I think the materials and workmanship are excellent. However, it still looks like it was built in 2005. So it looks out of place in a way. Now, if someone was offering me this house for free, with all the upkeep included, I would take it on a heartbeat. It would make a great venue
this is more like a wedding hall type of property. I am a wedding photographer and this is exactly what couples look for on the tristate area where I live in.
Not really, it would be maybe two or three times more near LA, but the weather and scenery around there makes it worth it. Let's face it, houston is hot and ugly af.
If it's not zoned for business and only for residential the house will probably never sell. Not too many cities are willing to change zoning regulations.
ONLY 11 Million?! WOW, the cost of shipping and materials and work hours that's a steal. If this house was anywhere near a coast east or west the cost would be double or even triple. Texas and the south always have the biggest cheapest real estate. And for everyone saying this house is not a "family home" of course it is not- it's made for a Larger family and multi-generational estate. Not your typical Nuclear American Family Doy! and the size is perfect for becoming a wedding venue, party, and Bar mitzpha and making revenue for that and it would not invade your everyday family areas! If I could afford this, I definitely would love to buy this. Maybe in the future with some investors. I'd def buy something similar if at all possible. 1 of a kind. Side note In in VA and wedding venues alone can cost more than the actual wedding rentals and food etc. not to mention they are always fully booked and No were near as nice or large as this place!
$11million and no pool? What were they thinking? I'm picturing a small Napoleon statured man as the original owner - trying to make up for all his short comings. Money definitely does not mean you have good taste.
I appreciate how much more modern this is minus the antique furniture but usually they are decorated in the 11th century Romanesque style which was the style when they were originally built. I get most want to decorate it in that time period but is it really required, can’t someone decorate in their own style for once and be original to their selves? I guess to each their own, everyone has different tastes and I can appreciate that in itself. This is stunning and I thank you for showing it to us all, how I would love to walk the halls and just explore.
I like that you showed this to us. But jeez it's so tacky! There are beautiful elements, but it's so busy and over the top and the white and gold in that "ballroom" is just, kitsch. I would never want to live in it, especially not in this state. Such a waste of space and money.
It's not really a home is it? It was clearly built as a hotel /wedding venue. I don't know any private homes with separate male and female multi cubicle bathrooms
It is very beautiful and it looks like you're up but it also looks like a casino at some places I think the Ballrooms should have a higher ceiling and a little bit more sophisticated but they are very beautiful
@@uniquelypositive yes it is my friend. Dollar Inflation, corona virus, the biggest corruption of the stock market (NAKED SHORS) of GameStop and a lot more. You should start informing yourself better.. 2008 was a joke to what's coming
this does not trappet you to Europe. as a European, I would say concrete walls, triple glazed windows and homes that are actually build to last (like the apartment I live in that is approximately 150 years old, like the whole district) is what's transports you to Europe. nobody wants this fake Louis XIV. impression. that's just tacky.
On one hand I can understand why someone with enough money would want a house like this. However, you said it "feels" like a French chateau but honestly it's not only just an image of a European building, it's hideous. American temporary homes look really great in my opinion with awesome design but American houses like this consist of historic style elements put in a blender, ridiculously augmented and thrown on a good piece of land.. 😒 don't get me wrong: the craftsmanship, execution and selection of materials is great but I would rather buy a stylish modern home for my 11M 😋
I mean the style is similar to a European style, but as a European I can 100% tell it is new. It really looks like the fake monopoly building feel Vegas has. 😬 but I guess it’s the closest Americans can get to the hundreds and sometimes thousands of year old building we have in Europe. I can appreciate the try. ❤️
Are they asking you to make this sound good? Just asking because usually you guys make fun of wood paneling and now you called it beautiful lol It would make a great wedding venue or event space though
One of the biggest cities in the world? What?? Austin is about 1M population. The biggest cities in the world are in double digit millions. I think the biggest is 40M. Austin isn't even in the top 100. I'd be surprised if it were in the top 500 biggest cities in the world. By the world, does she mean the US? Texas??
If I am that rich to afford this, trust me... I'd build a modern Iron Man Tony Stark house. I would not waste my time with this type of house. I am just saying.
WAY TOOOO OVER THE TOP! A family could never feel comfortable there... Best suited to a wedding/ event venue. Would feel like you're living in a museum
