As expected this Burger King has been fully remodeled. Everything you see in this video is now forever gone. Enjoy it here on RU-vid, preserved for the ages :)
I just watched your 80s target video and now this! I’m GenZ raised by GenX parents, so I grew up on 80s nostalgia, movies, shows, music, you name it! Your videos make me melancholic for what seems like a magical time I didn’t get to live through.
Never seen a bk look like this in my life. But with how big and spacey it is makes me think a lot ppl must of really been eating there , maybe a hang out spot ?!
Really cool retro style Burger King. Really like bench seating they got at some of the tables as well as the area with all the windows going up the seating. This restaurant definitely gives you a 90's vibe.
This is definitely a remodel in the early 90s. The mauve and teal pleather booths give it away. Also, the purple roof was a dead giveaway for the time period. The “brown brick” floor is a left over for the 70s .
Wow! You keep saying it’s like being in a time capsule and that couldn’t be further from the truth. I live in Michigan and I think this would be a cool trip to take just for the experience.
Thank you for sharing. This video brings back great memories. This is the same Burger King my friends, and I ate at many times during my high school years.
@Nate The Great *I LOVE THE SOLARIUM area in that store, it is amazing, light, airy, but also warm and welcoming too, very comforting and relaxing, not sterile and cold like designs today. I have a feeling that the Solarium area was an update on the existing building that was done in the mid 1980s, and before that this store probably looked a look like the older shoe box stores from the early 1980s and prior.* It's great too that the place is super clear, and well maintained just like most BKs were back then. Recently they found a BK in a mall that had been walled off in the early 1990s and it was also very interesting, but not nearly as nice as this store is. I hope you bought a meal there and complimented the place to the manager!
Wow that takes me back. I grew up 5 minutes from this location and remember when it was built. I actually remember when its precursor was built about 1 block to the north directly across from the McDonald's there, in about 1969, kind of like a big middle finger to its competitor. That one was pretty small so they sold it and moved to this location in the 80s where they had a lot more room. I'd always stop there for a coffee on my way back to college after the holidays. It hasn't changed at all.
We had several BKs that were like this. This looks like late 70's early 80's with newer chairs and tables. The one we use to go to is now an office building, and the others have been demolished for the newer ho-hum shoebox cheapy buildings. This one would be my go to BK because of it's age. Brings me back to a more carefree time.
i have ate at maumee burger king many a times... we used to hang out there and at the taco bell down the street in the 90's. ;) i worked at the one on heatherdowns and byrne for a bit.
Yooooo this is where I live! Great memories in the old fast food joints. The McDonald’s and Wendy’s near me have been renewed in recent years, but this place is still going strong.
Should've seen it when it had the 19th century bicycles in the divides between the lobby and the atrium. When I'm talking 19th century I'm talking the ones with the massive front wheel and tiny back wheel. This isn't even the original BK in Maumee, it was originally across the street from McDonald's/KFC, then they moved it a block closer to The Trail in the 80s I believe
We had one in my hometown until they built a brand new one next to it and closed down the original and now the original is a US army recruitment office.
There is a former one that looks like that on Holland-Sylvania rd. There is one on Secor rd in Lambertville Mi but not sure if that's been updated or not.
Bro, right down the street from there is one of the oldest Long John Silver's in Ohio. You should try and give it a visit. It's super janky and has one of the worst drive thrus I've ever seen. There's curbs on both sides, so once you pull in, you're locked in no matter what.
So it has very unfortunately been announced a week ago that this will be completely remodeled in the upcoming months. I’m very dissapointed as I live maybe 2 miles away and always frequent here and enjoy this vintage restaurant. Just went today the 80’s music was still playing strong. I grabbed a lot of photos as well. Years ago there were old fashioned bicycles as decor along the wooden divider and the glass atrium.
@leet7489 I agree, I'm sure a lot of this is due to severe cost cutting, but still the current styling is bland, boring, sterile, and cold at most retail places today. Not inviting at all!
And stop making fun of the new burger kings it’s not a shoe box it’s just what we like now even little kids like the new stuff us (me) teenagers like those new stuff we ain’t like the old crappy stuff they had back then
