Before I owned a bearing press tool I would place wooden blocks on the top and bottom of the headset, and i would use a clamp to apply pressure along with a few strikes from a rubber mallet to get the cups to seat proper. Thank you for the video you did a good job.
Converted my XC to touring. Installed 35 degree backsweep Velo Orange Crazy bar, have 50mm suspension seat post By.Schulz and really good SQLabs saddle. Less-to-No pain after every long rides.
At one time, that was true pre. the 1x revolution. Do remember, you have multiple repeating gear ratios in 2x and Esp. 3x drivetrains and a 1x with a wide-range cluster eliminates those repeaters. My '18 Surly Karate Monkey has a 1 x 10 Advent X 10 spd. drivetrain (10-48t cluster plus Wolf Tooth 28t elliptical front chainring) that handles regular off-road duties quite well and will more than probably be as competent in it's role for Bikepacking. If i need anything lower gearing-wise, I'll shift to my eleventh gear; hike-a-bike mode...
IMO. 2x chainring is the best to have especially ultra long rides (distance of 40 km to more than a 100 km) 2x just have a lot of gear ratio combination that helps you conquer any types of inclination or terrain and just a couple of additional grams of weight will surely compensate from the several gear ratios that a 2x can offer.
Mine too, 1x is very convenient , is nice to maintain, but 2x gives you more combination of gear ratios. And chain life and cassette is longer beceause of less chain crossing.
One thing to note: when converting an old 2by crank to a 1by, make sure you use single speed chainring bolts. I dont know much about mtb cranks but on road cranks and fixed gear cranks this is the case.
when people actually do real touring they want more gear options rather than less. I actually recommend a front triple if you are serious about touring. I have personally seen people that were miserable on tours when they were under-geared.
have you experienced about Jones H-Bar? if that what is most comfortable handlebar in your case? I'm using Jone H-Bar right now but I'm curious about that handlebar anyway thumbs up from south korea
Great job, Sir! I'll just ask you if how can I avoid to loose my crank cap/pre-load cap in hollowtech bottom bracket and how can I also avoid loose crank arm? Should I tight the two pinch bolts of the crank arm a little bit more?
Hi I've just started looking at your videos, there is lots of thing I really like about it and I have a few question about your bike stand do you have a link to where to buy?
Yea agree, 1x makes no sense for a touring bike…. i t’s just the fashion nowadays…. but actually makes sense only for hardcore MTB’s where there is a risk of a front chain drop…. for road, gravel, touring etc in my opinion it’s less functional, and more expensive…
hi Coggie I'm from manila.. nag se service ka po ba?? balak ko po kade pa tanggal seatpost ko dahil na stuck po sya alloy seatpost at steel frame po.. test ko na po wd40 at yabe tubo nde gumalaw ung seatpost
