Three upgrades I added to my new 2023 BMW F750 GS to make it more touring worthy. New Madstad windscreen, BMW Connected Ride Cradle for my smart phone and a new soft tail bag from BMW's Adventure Collection. Hope this gives you some ideas and you enjoy the ride and scenery on the ride from Ellijay to Fort Mountain State Park near Chatsworth, Georgia.

Your motorcycle looks great. I have been riding my R1200 GSA now for a few weeks, I was fortunate that the previous owner had already equipped it with a tall windscreen as well as the short one, a tank bag, and pannier set. That tail bag would be great. Unless I needed to go out for a long trip, the tank bag and a tail bag pretty well covers everything. What really surprises me is just how much less energy is expended riding it and the lack of soreness even after a few hours in the saddle. It has taken a little practice to get used to the lightness of the controls and the raw power, but this motorcycle has hooked me. I just could not go back to a heavy cruiser again. Safe travels and maybe I'll run across you in Georgia.

I feel the same way about these adventure style bikes. I just love the handling and lighter weight than the heavy cruisers I was used to. Sounds like you got a good deal on your R1200. The taller windshield is a must in my opinion. Thanks for watching and sharing the information on your bike. I really appreciate it.

I think you made the right choice for the life station you are in. I've been working for 34 years, and I can see the finish line in about 5 more years. I plan to ride as long as I am able. Staying in shape is important, utmost!, as we get on in years. I see too many men saying, "I had to get a small bike." - I'm not talking about your situation. But I think some men let themselves atrophy and keep buying smaller and smaller bikes until they are on 250cc putters. Instead, I say, keep yourself able to ride a 500-600 lb. bike. Rise to the occasion! ;) I discovered the "Adventure" platform early in my return to riding only about 6.5 years ago. I got my 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 XRx brand new and now have over 57,000 miles on it. It's a great platform to ride and enjoy the ride. Ride safe!

I think I made the right choice too. You’re not that far behind me! I’ve actually become more diligent about my working out and exercise since I retired. I can feel the age creeping in the last couple of years and I’m doing all I can to slow that down. I know there will be a date sometime in the future where I will have to give up 2 wheels but I’m trying to make sure that’s a long time from now. Ride safe my friend.

Congratulations on your new BMW. Looks like you have a knack for picking out beautiful motorcycles. I sure as heck wouldn't kick that bike out of my garage . Hope you enjoy your new bike. 👍

My biggest fault is that I love almost every motorcycle I ride. I need a really big garage and even bigger wallet! Thanks for watching and the nice comments. I really appreciate it.

Was just looking at Madstadt. It looks really good. Wind buffeting is one of the biggest reasons I haven’t considered an ADV. I’m watching with great interest! Nice video!

This Madstad windshield is every bit as good at wind protection as my Heritage or the Springfield I rode a few years ago. Maybe a little more wind on my arms but none on my body and the wind goes right over my helmet. It’s better than I expected.

Hi! Brand new rider here, picking up my f800gs tomorrow. Your videos are great - both informative and pumping me up before I get my own bike. Thank you!!

Your going to love your new F800 GS. Great bike, easy to handle and loads of fun. If you’re a new rider I suggest you ride a while in Rain mode to get used to the bike. That will be a more relaxed throttle response and won’t get you in trouble with over accelerating or going too fast from a stop. Just a suggestion. Congratulations on your purchase and let me know how you like it. Ride safe and thanks for watching!

Mods look great, Doug! I was seriously thinking about calling in sick yesterday to go ride. Weather this weekend isn’t cooperative.

It was a perfect day to ride. I highly recommend retirement! I’m supposed to go on a group ride tomorrow but they are waiting until tomorrow morning to decide it is going to happen. I doubt it. The new windscreen is great. Just what it needed. Thanks for watching!

Nice bike I have added the BMW touring sceen and adjustable mount from the F800GS Adventure

I thought about the BMW touring screen but the cost of the bracket and wind screen was just a bit too much for me. I always try to go with genuine BMW parts and accessories if I can. I’m happy with the Madstad windshield though. Thanks for watching!

Good morning from Southern AZ👋👋 I’m thinking of doing some mods on my GSA (don’t let my Sec of State now bout this😂), and I think I’d add the barkbusters and the double take mirrors as a start… Your 750 is just right for what you wanna do I guess with it. Ride safe my friend 🫡🇺🇸🌵

It’s a great bike and I’m sure I’ll have some other additions to it. Thanks for watching and I’ve ridden a lot in Arizona. Love it.

I'm glad you got the adjustable windscreen. Of course, when you get a new bike, you have to make it your own. Can Am has some apps you can use for navigation (Genius Maps and Sygic GPS) with a subscription fee, of course. Did the free trial, didn't like it. I opted for the Garmin Zumo XT (a birthday gift from my brother), and that synced up fine and can transfer from vehicle to vehicle. I use Google maps on the phone around close, but I'm old school. I like the stand-alone GPS. It's looking good, my friend. I'm still adding on stuff. It's a little at a time, but it's getting there.

I like the Garmin GPS units pretty much. I had one on my old motorcycle. The BMW navigation app that you can download to your phone and use on my new bike is not very good based on my limited use of it so far. I like Google and Apple Maps much better. Some day all the motorcycles will have Apple Car Play and the Android equivalent that will connect to the TFT screens they have now. Little damp and chilly here this weekend but I think I give it a go anyway on the bike. Ride safe my friend!

I have the 21' same bike and rear bag... I have the Madstad too, but not installed yet, waiting for warmer weather... I plan on getting the cradle soon... Cheers! I also got a seat cover that gives it just a little more cushion. Up to 7K miles .

I hit a pothole on a private road with my 2020 f750gs, bent and cracked both sport rims. There's only one option for aftermarket rims are spoked and cost $1500, BMW charges $3k+ for their rims, so be careful with hitting stuff on this adventure bike lol

Thanks for the heads up. I plan to keep mostly on nicer roads but I know that potholes can jump out of nowhere. There’s not much of anything with the BMW logo on it that’s not expensive. Thanks for watching!

Your phone as a satnav. What if it's raining?
@GARamblinMan
@GARamblinMan 3 месяца назад
If it rains I just do without the phone navigation. The BMW Garmin unit that fits into the cradle is very expensive - around $900 USD. So I just take the chance. I rarely ride in the rain anyway. Thanks for watching!
