Watched the Norway series and loved it but I gotta ask as a man who’s with his wife 25 years….. where’s the b-roll video of you two arguing 😂. Aside from forgotten about the hotel and wedding anniversary there has to be a tons of clips where there’s a fight 😂
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, the Heading North Series was our favourite! Haha vlogging is the key! -We have no time to argue 😂 -I got away with forgetting it was an anniversary hotel as Em has been well fed up-to that point. Thanks for watching 😎🙌🏻
Wonderful video guys. I'm stunned at the lack of snow. We have no snow here either in Upstate New York. Are you surprised at having no snow? Anyway, looking forward to new episodes. Please stay safe and keep the rubber sides down.
Hi Brian, Yeah for this time of year the little amount of snow is shocking. The last few winter seasons have not been great (for snow sports that is), December started off very snowy and then that was it really. We had a cold spell at the beginning of the year and now it's warming up again, maybe we will get a very early season this year and the mountain passes will open up early. In the next episode we are literally riding past people carrying skis at the resorts 😄 Looking at posting episode 2 on Friday. Nice to hear from you again and catch you later 😎👍
Hi guys, I’ve often wondered why you chose to live in Switzerland but after watching a couple of your Swiss videos I totally understand 😊 fantastic scenery ! Only 20 hours riding from Northern Ireland 🤣😂
Hi Martin, I got the 30 year anniversary R1200GSA about 9 years ago. We only got the 1250 mid 2023 and couldn’t bare to part with the R1200 ….but In Switzerland you can swop the plates with over so it’s easy to use both. Glad you liked the video 😎👍🏻
Awesome video. Stunning photography of the mountains. Totally agree with you about the kettle. The food you cooked looked delicious too. I wonder if you have ever been to Leysin in Switzerland? It's my favourite place to ski but getting there is expensive from the UK now.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, the part 2 of this video has even more of the mountains -one of our favourite places 😊. We tend to still with central Switzerland for winter sports as we can drive there and back in the sane day. As you say it gets expensive staying over.
I prefer to just remove the bags from the boxes instead of taking all the aluminum suitcases. It's easy but it's just extra weight. And sometimes they are quite dirty.
Hi, yeah sometimes we do especially as you say when they are heavy. On this trip they were not very full and the cases themselves only weight 5kg. Good point when they are dirty -not fair bringing that into a hotel. Hope you enjoyed the video. S&E 😎👍🏻
Hi Jack, thanks for your comment and glad you like the channel! The Merino top is from a brand called Stoic, can totally recommend it as they are a good price and are machine washable.
green in January? I thought it was winter in Switzerland between November and the beginning of March...? Here in Norway, there is half a meter to a meter of snow, a hurricane along the west coast and north, rain in the Oslo area and 10cm of ice and slush on the small local roads. ooh, and the last 2-3 weeks it has been -15C to -29C here I live... Lucky You 🙂 ---- Edit: If you ride in 60kmh and the temperature is approx. 6C, it will feel as it is approx. -2,7C to -3C.
Hi, yeah usually it is. We had lots of snow in December and it was looking like it would be a good year for winter sports but then it got warm again and it all melted. Not sure if winter will come back again soon or we will get an early spring. Sounds like Norway gets a more consistent winter, -29!! 🥶 I only experienced that once in Canada and my feet would get cold after 10 minutes. That’s an interesting fact with the wind chill, thanks for that. Thanks for watching and nice to hear from you 😎👍🏻
Thanks! It was chilly but well worth it! They are called ‘BMW HeatUp Heated Vest’ there’s carious sizes so not sure which part number you would need. Here’s a link where they sell them Partnunbers are in the product tab. bmw.europe-moto.com/gb/bmw-winter-functional-clothing/2190-29195-vest-heated-heatup-bmw.html#/334-size-m/336-colour-black
Yeah it really is! The weather was sunny on the weekend too, which was perfect 🤩 will be about the same here until we get some consistently nice weather ….although spring could be a lot earlier than usual this year 😊
Yay, more episodes :) As Sean especially seems to be in to coffee, do you have an espresso machine at home? Or is it bialetti all the way, even when you're home?
Hi! 😊, we do have an espresso machine at home. We went with one from Sage that has a built in grinder for a fresh grind each time. But the bialetti makes a good one too (but it’s not for the induction hob so have to put a pan underneath it 😁)
Great video, thanks guys. Wanted to ask where you bought the front camera mount with the two mount legs? Looking for something similar for my bike. Thanks 🙏
Good to catch up again S&E I’m back home now after 9 weeks , great little journey amazing camera work Emm that sun set was just unbelievable, just ordered two tyres for the R18 so I’ll take the wheels off this weekend , stay safe 👍 Graham
Hi Graham, we hope you had a good time! Thanks, yeah the sunset was amazing! Nice, so you are already to head off on the R18 =) Part 2 is now live, have a great weekend. Sean and Emily
Yeah not usual to have such little snow, in episode 2 we head into the ski region of Grindelwald and there’s hardly any snow in the mountain, was funny riding next to people carrying skis and snowboards 🤪 Yeah had to give shadow a good wash as soon as we got back.
A great way to start the year than with a mini break. That scenery on the route to the hotel was just immense and so beautiful. Look forward to episode two…. I personally think The Last Crusade is the best Indiana film. These are my go to films to get me through life. Hmm might watch one tonight.
Hi Darren, thanks it was a great start to the year 😊 Yeah that road especially at sunset is spectacular! Agreed! The last crusade is the best (we have watched them all now 😁).
Hi there, thank you for sharing your Switzerland Adventure. Remember me when I was young I lived near to the Border to Switzerland and often was skiing and traveling around the Country. I follow you for a while and enjoy all your Video's. Happy riding 😃 and greetings from Thailand 🇹🇭
Hi, you’re welcome 😊 -glad you enjoyed it. Some parts of Switzerland look like they haven’t changed for years, always nice to be in the Alps. Must be nice and warm in Thailand 😊 Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy this year’s videos. 😎👍🏻
Its good to start off with a small tour. Touring in your country looks very nice with heated clothing ;) Fantastic views. Love your work and effort you put into this.
Hi, yeah some spontaneous weather related short tours are a great way to start the year. The weather should warm up in March but in the meantime the heated vests work a treat 😊. Thanks very much for your comment and part two should be out next week 😎👍🏻
Hi 😊, thanks very much! Really glad you enjoyed the first episode of the year, it’s the calm before the storm of editing as we have a lot planned for this year 😁. Thanks for watching and we appreciate your encouraging comments! 😎👍🏻
Love Thun, we would always have a double overnight in the area on our tours of the Alps. Made the mistake of jumping off one of the bridges with the local kids, missed the first hand hold to get out of the river, floated down quite far before I found another. We just got back from Chiang Khong along the Mekong River, had to do a border run to Laos to extend my Thai Visa for another 2 months. Beautiful roads & scenery, no traffic. If you are ever over this way, the further north you go the better it gets. Another great video.
Hi Bill, great choice to have a couple of nights in Thun! Really is a Gem of Switzerland. Haha that must have been funny, it’s amazing how strong the current is too in the river 😁. Sounds fantastic! We really want to go, it would be such an adventure. Travelling somewhere with a totally different culture is so exciting! Do you live in Thailand now or are you traveling there? Thanks for watching and nice to hear from you again 😎👍🏻
@@SeanandEmily We have been spending 5 months (November to April) here every since I retired from the Fire Dept back in 2000. We really like it here while the weather is awful back in Northern California.
Hi Tes and Adie, nice to hear from you and welcome to our channel! It's great to hear you enjoyed the video and we look forwards to hearing form you again. We have some big tours coming up this year that we are looking forwards to sharing. Our most recent Tour was the Heading NorthTour : ru-vid.com/group/PLl_mRzVHVQ0wBDli8y7IjlY2Q4MBPnA0u&si=h6H_tv-FtnTv10h_ Thanks for watching and all the best Sean and Emily
Hi, no they are not but we have heard good things about them. We use 80% tinted visors so they can stay on all day. They are actually pretty good at night too as they take away the glare but still let see. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
Hi David, yeah a nice and fresh way to start the year 😁🥶. Yeah we never take it for granted, hopefully we will have more time to see some more of Switzerland this year 😊
Hi Colin, great to hear it was useful! Episode 2 should be handy too as we explain how we get hotels In Switzerland half price 😉. That will be a great ride, you might have already seen it but we did that ride last year with friends and it was fantastic! Passes should all be open in June too 😎👍🏻
Half price sounds great! June should be good and by then the scarring from the kidney it has cost us should have healed. So what do you guys do for a living that takes you to Switzerland....winterthur!
Hi Emily and Sean. What a good start to 2024 and a happy new year from Oslo. We'll probably have to wait until April to see snow-free roads and greenery here. Beautiful area you are driving in, with fantastic views of mountains and water. And I think the small Swiss villages have such a lovely charm. Can't wait to see the next episode. When will you post it?
Hi Trond, Thanks very much and the same to you 😊. Yeah usually it's a similar story here (well until March that is) but seems to have warmed up the last few weeks, whether we get another cold spell again we are not sure. Yeah this is one of our favorite areas of Switzerland with such beautiful scenery. We will be working on the next episode this week and hope to have it out on Friday 😎👍
Hi Ruud, nice to hear from you again 😊. Yeah Switzerland is a special place! So many beautiful rides all very close together. Just working on part 2 now so hopefully ready for next week, we are looking forwards to sharing it 😎👍🏻
WOW, the mountains looked incredible and Thun needs to be added to our list next time we cone to Switzerland. How we have missed the gem that it looks like from your footage really makes me want to come and check it out. AND to be biking end of January in Central CH, I never would have thought it possible.
Hi John, There's no better time to see the mountains than on a crisp winters day, Thun is a beautiful little city that is worth a night or 2, always good to have a reason to come back in the next episode we head in to Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald where you get up close to the mountains. This year we are planning to show a lot more of our favorite places in Switzerland. I think this is the first time we have been biking in Central Switzerland in January too, there was a window of not so cold and sunny so we went for it 😎👍
Thanks! Happy to hear you enjoyed it 😊 yeah we are looking forwards to spring too -hoping for an early one! Germany is a great place to ride, we hope you have a great time there 😎👍🏻
What a great way to start 2024, a lovely ride-out in the winter sun followed by a well deserved night away. As usual the filming, editing and commentary were all first class, I hope you packed the heated gear! (I still can't get over your train ride home lol, it will live long in the memory).
Hi David, thanks! Yeah a nice fresh ride out to start the year is just what we needed 😊. nice to have a relaxing pace and take some time to chill. We sure did, heated vests, seats and grips all the way 😄. Hahah that train! 😂 - we have blocked it out now lol Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comments as ever 😎👍
Hi Emily and Sean! Nice to see that you are getting started with the 2024 motorcycle ride. We long to do the same here in Sweden, however the weather is not on our side yet. Thank you for a fantastic premiere screening. We have drivning that road ourselves and lived in the beautiful Gunten 😎😎 Greetings Christer o Barbro
Hi Christer and Barbro, thanks! It was great to get out into the fresh air -chilly but fresh 😊. Guessing to will have another couple of months before the roads are clear in Sweden, still it must look beautiful covered in snow. Oh wow that is a beautiful place to live! Whenever we ride past the lake we always say to each other how amazing it would be to live there and see the mountains and the lakes everyday, next episode should be out on Friday as we head into Grindelwald and wow did the mountains look good! Sean and Emily 😊
@@SeanandEmily I am planning a week's trip early May, staying in Felkirch. Do you think there will be enough roads open in Austria and Switzerland for a week's riding?
Weather should be nice in May, whether the passes will be open I don’t know. Some will be (some are open all year around) -you can find them on alpine pass.ch (it also tells you when they opened in past years so you can make a good guess) Either way there will some great rides 😊👍🏻Feldkirch is a great town , there’s a great brewery there too the Braugaststätte Rössle Park.
