Are these state lodges necessarily in Abuja for a governor who's supposed to be governing his people back home...? They borrow money to live extravagant and lavish lifestyle without proper representation of their state citizens. Now I understand why Peter Obi refused to build for Anambra state as a governor. We need to learn how to be prudent as a nation.
B4 peter obi came to office, Anambra state has a lodge in Abuja, but he gave it out to an investment company, saying that a state to have a governor's lodge in Abuja is foolishness; spending millions of Naira in cleaning and maintenance every year...
The importance of having a Governor's lodge is to reduce cost of paying heavy hotel bills for the governor and his entourages. Apart from that senior government officials who came to Abuja for official engagements and meetings also stay in those lodges. Stop making excuses for Peter Obi for denying Anambra state of the opportunity, the people who brought the idea are not foolish. Similarly all states used to have in Lagos before the Capital was moved to Abuja. Anambra state governor and its officials pays huge amount of money on hotel bills now.
A waste of meager resources of the Nigerian people. Imagine if this funds were channeled towards building hospitals and schools as well as improving our technology, Nigeria will be better off. What a waste in a state where they don't leave or carry out their official functions!
I'm a South African and i am curious, is the governors lodge a place where state business is being conducted, or is it just a residence? The buildings seem awfully big for it to just be a residence.
They are not competing to build the best universities and hospitals or trauma centers but glorified buildings that probably have no connected sewer lines, readily portable water but borehole, or constant 24 /7 electricity but generators.Absurdity. !!!!
Even if they were "competing" based on universities and hospitals and trauma centres, you Olusola Akande would still find something they were not competing on, like Rockets to Mars or stuff, and denigrate the content. While I am not supporting anyone per se, beautiful buildings are not the problem. Especially if they were appropriated properly, and over time the cost is probably less than if they were to rent spaces with security and staffing every time they travel.

Building expensive mansions for governors in Abuja is a waste of land and money knowing that those governors will visit rarely and those buildings will need maintenance. The better option would have been to build a five star governor's hotel open for commercial purposes and also hosting governors for free in their suits anytime they come around.
its not a waste if they use the buildings and houses for what its meant for so instead of flying and lodging in hotels they and pay millions for them and their entourage they should be using the state houses when they fly also the state buildings should be used approately

Why should State Governments waist their state funds in building state lounges that they only stay for a few days in the whole year. Some States are struggling to pay their states' employee salaries, yet they have gigantic buildings, called "State Lounge", and constantly pay the staff that work to keep and maintain these lounges. Is it not a shame and a waist of States' fund?
These are beautiful nonsense. Some of these governor come to Abuja maybe 30 days in a year and most don’t even stay at these lodges. So with which money is this being maintained? Also what’s the use of a Laison house when the governors house is empty. I believe that some of these state have houses in Lagos and other states. We waste money a lot in this country.

It was peter obi who donated it to either the indonesia government or united nations or something cos its a waste of resources for the state to maintain and not really necessary.
