This video is very informative. I'm writing an article on this very same topic and Caribbean autonomy. Sad that there isn't more videos speaking up about these kind of economic issues in the Caribbean. Great job!

Ty for this content, as an American I’m trying to understand more about traveling ethically and most of the videos are purely about eco friendly destinations 🤪 while helpful in its own way…exactly what I don’t want to do is ignore the context and impacts on actual people as well 😂 imagine 😂 ❤

Excellent Video. Remember what the IMF did to Jamaica? Yea. they're coming to dominate indeed. That leakage indeed, spills over to the locals. They get the backlash, with poor jobs and higher taxes at the ports and such. It's pretty brutal. Sometimes I think Skerrit should not build an international airport.

I've always appreciated that Dominica wasn't overrun with soulless resorts run from abroad, so I found yours an interesting overview of the issue. Do I take it that your view is not that tourism itself is the issue, but rather poorly designed tourism?

Yeah, tourism focused on selling the 'sun, sand, and sea' image of the Caribbean to as many people as possible is the problem. As these issues became clear many places have come up with their own ways to restructure their tourism into something more sustainable - Bhutan is a good example.
