Tourists stuck on China’s Great Wall for 2 hours during National Day holiday 

I am Chinese. During the National Day holiday, I always choose to stay at home and watch other people queue up on my phone.

Well, at least they're calm and not panicking.

This is the first thing you learn when you live in China. DO NOT GO TO ATTRACTIONS ON HOLLIDAY.

Absolutely, the worst time to travel around in China, the National Holiday and Spring Festival. It's absolutely pointless to spend your time and money just to be swamped in these places and call it a 'vacation'. How is this remotely enjoyable? It's more stressful than going to work!

And I'll bet a million dollars 99% of these people have been to the Great Wall many times before it's not their first time. People go out for the sake of being seen and being able to say: I went out for the holidays. I'll rather stay at home where it's quiet, no crowds.

I am scared when I see the crowd. It is absurd, yes absurd, to cram into such narrow spaces. The Halloween stampede in South Korea and stadium stampede in Indonesia a few years ago are still fresh in our memory. The authority should limit the number of people allowed to enter the tourist spots.

As someone who is alergic to crowd, i can't imagine stuck in this sea of people for hours. What the fun in that.

Abolish long holidays during 十一，五一，春节. Allow employees to consume their leaves at any time of the year to avoid over crowding and price surge.

Nightmare. I won't ever go in a holiday trip anywhere in China during any holiday season. Too many people everywhere, stuck in never ending queues, wasting your health, time and patience miserably. Better staying at home or some quiet spot near home.

I imagine how the childs are tired but they didn't complicate things for their parents

Wow been to the Great Wall about 7 times it was quite busy but not as busy as this!

Worst mistake you could make is to visit attractions on a national holiday

It's a nightmare if you need to use the restrooms urgently 😭

If its India many would lose life due to crowded but they still manage 😂

I think the reason why this happens is because there are segments of the wall you can only pass basically in single file... they really need to have a way of putting groups through at a time and ferrying them away.

Problem is everyone's holiday is same day. And despite crowds, they still travel. Of course, blame to the unprepared locations.

People could die from this kind of situation.

I was in China one year for the National Holiday. Everything was so crowded you couldn't move, there was never a time you could be alone or not hear a car horns throughout the night. I left the next day for Thailand

Don't travel to popular attractions during holidays in China.

How do you go to the toilet ?

If you keep giving birth only one child, your child or grandchild will have a better life than now we are. Less people, more job opportunity, higher pay.

i have been in china for almost 13 years. going on holiday anywhere in china is a rookie mistake. stay home, or tops, go somewhere an hour away. why anyone would thing going to the great wall on a holiday is crazy. best time to go is at night, probably on a monday. i went on christmas morning in 2012 and nobody was there.

2 hours may sound long... But there are other situations that takes longer than that.

I dont actually blame the tourists. It's the tourists spots and businesses that need to stop allowing entrance when at capacity.

This is something that I don't understand. Obviously, during the long holiday, everywhere is going to be jam packed with people. Why bother to join and squeeze with the crowd when you could have gone there during the off peak non-holiday season ? One thing for sure, the emperors of the past would have been proud of such a great achievement, to be seen and visited by thousands of people on this day.

I was at Mutianyu great wall section in the depth of winter and it was filled with people slipping and sliding on the skating ring surface. LOL what these folks face in earlyfall. The tourist people need to open more than 2 locations to climb GWoC

Could have turned out to be catastrophic like what happend in seoul . Thankfully the people are fine and the great wall did not give way!

What is there to see?

Too much of gathering will affect this heritage structure, the authorities should have controlled upto certain limits of visiting this site.

China needs more public holidays so people can travel at different times of the year. A couple of major holidays is not enough for the population size.

This is what happens when everyone does what others do. That’s why I prefer to do my own thing and not follow the crowd.

Those tourists aren't stuck on the China's great wall ok. Oh pls don't confused people believed it's true 🙄. They are all nice tourists which don't pushing each other. Just lineing up waiting their turn to walk out only. They all know it's alot of people come to visit China's great wall during the national day holiday ok.
