You all will be pleased to know that this poor Fordson Now starts on the 4-5th swing of the handle with half choke, But not so easy to start when it has been runing for a hour and yes the gearbox is still ok
@goldie103103 I'm just curious mate what do you think happens when you dissengage the clutch and apply the transmition brake? and they are built to do that
it is possible to just disengage the clutch by pressing the pedal halfway down you can feel the extra pressure of the spring that keeps the transmission brake required to keep it free of the reverse idler gear
In that case you should never use the 27 hp of the engine to reverse a heavy load. The load on the transmission turning over the motor in high high gear will be only a small fraction of the powered reversing a heavy load.
