London is a mecca for tourists, its soooooooo much to see and do. The British people are polite, honest, and friendly, truly some of the best. I have had the privilege to visit London one time and hope to go again.
I am afraid about hight... We'll go there in 3-2 weeks and i'm very excited and very afraid... But i'll do this because i don't wan't to be the 'loser'.. (sorry for my bad english, i' m from germany)
They stopped a tour bus full of fat Americans to do a test run on the glass. If it withstood their weight in total, they all got a free lunch at Wimpy's hamburger run by people from India.
Its made up of 6 layers of glass apparently, went there last year and layed down on it while my girlfriend took a photo. They do a tour on the Tower bridge as well which is quite interesting.
That was the original intention, as when the bridge was built it often opened multiple times per day, and the designer thought people would use this route to avoid delay. However the stairs proved too much for most people, and it was little used but did become a bit of a trouble spot with ladies of the night apparently! It was eventually closed to pedestrians but now forms part of the exhibition, which must be paid for. So technically yes, you can cross this way when the bridge is open, but it will cost you the full museum entry fee.
Funny how this was originally designed for everyone to walk across when boats came across so they wouldn't have to wait than it became a expensive Tourist "experience"
