They are amazing!!! Bands from my generation don't perform up to this caliber. No one can ever beat Tower of Power. As a trumpet play they are definately one of my biggest inspirations!

Every member of T.O.P. is the #1 BEST... from the horns, drums, keyboards, guitars, Bass, and singer... they are a few steps above their peers... They were among the first funk bands and have ALWAYS been THE. BEST.!!!!!!!

Roger's working overtime on both of these songs and it shouldn't be overlooked! There's a riff at the end of We Came to Play was just brutally funky! He's a special talent and helluva nice guy to boot. I chatted with him after a show in Florida last year. Really humble cat.
Top shelf. No band like them. My lovely wife of 34 years and I were amazed stunned and toe stubbed by this awesome legendary band. We can't wait for their next visit to the area.
TOP is FANTASTIC!! Larry Braggs is FANTASTIC!! It's just too bad that his name is not known more in the mainsteam. And he beats the sh** out of all of them. Great voice, Great showman. The CRAP (RAP) rules the record sales but we all know that Braggs is the talent and the man with style.
Dave Garibaldi's paradiddle drumming and Rocco's groove line bass creates this unique sound ...........as anyone who has seen them live can contest, they are truly overpowering in concert!!!!!!!!!!!!
The REAL stars of this band is the horn section. The lead vocalist, no matter who or how good he is, is nothing more than ORNAMENT! I could easily enjoy Tower Of Power only instrumentally. But that’s just me!!!
What energy and funk used to be and what true funk and energy still is with Emilio, Doc and all these guys. An amazing ensemble. Saw them at Sonoma and French Quarter, will see them again soon I hope. Chris - 4th Infantry Division.

this is deadly - with a [prominent organ in the FOH blend - badasss. And their take on mrs jones and cant you see w roger and jerry and larry at the mike - also sparkling in the sand - are also too unreal. Similar mix to '76 or 81 shows - we got chester and lenny p and michael jeffries here in Scotia, and please know, that Columbia records-era Tower was still something that amazed soul music fans here and we had thosuands.
Saw them last year. Larry Braggs is sensational. I guess he is leaving and he will be very hard to replace. He and Lenny Williams are my favorite TOP lead singers.
My $.02, first time I saw TOP was in the south cafeteria at College of San Mateo for a buck and a half, 1968. Maybe seen them close to a hundred times through the years. The band touring now is the best in every way. All the other bands and players built and added to the TOP mythology. I love LP and he is who he is... but Tom Politzer haz the chop and gets better all the time. It's apples and oranges.
i will take lenny williams voice .........number 1 .............but larry bragg.....had the whole package ........ what a group..........i have said it over and over .......the background vocals are top notch ....

You might as well "Knock Yourself Out" because 'T.O.P. already knows "What Is Hip" and every time that I've attended one of their concerts, it was "Souled Out" and as the Doc; Steve Krupa, Emilio as well as the rest of the crew will till you " We Came To Play"............ mark .....he is really good good , but lenny williams......was the best ..........larry had the whole package though .....terrific entertainer . but for the voice ...... give me lenny any day.......even still .....the t o p forever ! the entire band ..... and the harmonies get WAAaay overlooked .....
+Trumpet Tunes even though the TOP horn section is world famous, TOP isn't just about the horns they also have the best bass player in the history of soul. :p
WOW ! ,, lindsey , lenny had a better voice .........but larry , was the consumate showman..........cannot go wrong with either one ........but lenny , was there right after rick stevenson..............lenny was HUGE !!!!!
