Curious to hear what everyone else thinks in terms of the difficulty at Tower Ranch... does it just have my number? Or is it really just a challenging course?
I have played it probably 100 times. It can eat you up, and as scary as it sounds they have dialed it back with widening the fairways, shortening the rough, trimming the fescue and slowing down the greens. I don't play to your level, but at a 12 handicap, playing the blues I can keep it in the low 80's consistently which is great for me. But if your leaving yourself long putts and your not rolling it well it can absolutely lead to more then its fair share of 3 putts. Biggest thing is course management, which you seem to do a great job with. You can bomb about 5 holes (1,3,11,15,18), or you can place your tee to give you full shots. Also, like you said...keep the ball below the hole, cant stress this enough!!
@@toddn2520 love this! Yeah I feel like it’s one of the courses where playing it lots helps a ton. It has gotten more playable over the years, as well, like you said. Might have to play a match one of these days 👌
It's a challenging course no doubt. The greens on the back 9 are savage. I've chipped softly on and rolled completely off the other side (hole 16). It's a great track though and a lot of fun. Maybe not top 5 but top 10 for sure.
@@BeattheCourseGolfChannel haha yeah when your scratch golfing partner says "oh - beauty chip" and it rolls 15 yards past the hole off the green...you know that's a tough chip.
I do not know this course. but,, crazy long courses are not usually my favourite. This one does look interesting. The extremes of length go back to and just before Tiger Woods. They would 'Tiger proof" a course before a tournament. Which usually meant make it wicked long. Ya know,,, this made the course Tiger friendly because no one else could hit it so far. If you really wanted to make a course Tiger proof,,, you should have shortened it,, so many could be on the green and closely contested. Now some of that is ancient history,, there are so many long ball hitters now. But I think of Oakland Hills,, and Augusta. Oakland Hills in particular. Many of the greens it is like trying to putt on the hood of a 1955 Buick. just as rounded,, just as fast and slick
One I havent played yet. It's on the list. Getting chateau whistler and tobiano off the list in late may and mid June. Can't wait. Looks like u had really nice tempo on your swings all day in this video. Silky smooth and effortless looking. Another fantastic watch. And oh, congrats on the achievement.
@@BeattheCourseGolfChannel Yeah thanks for this content, got me even more excited to play it! Gallaghers would be nice to play too, but all depends on time :(
