Exactly, in high level games I always feel like things go way over my head and I don't even understand most of what is going on (despite T90 doing a great job). But then LEL is so relatable, I don't even think I'd beat them though, haven't played the game since early 2000's as a kid.

lel anything is infinitely more fun. low level aoe 2 and 3, my friends trying fps that i have hundreds of hours in its because its not optimal but fun or non optimal and trying their hardest but being borderline useless at times pros make it boring because with experience you know how things will usually go LEL is a wildcard everytime

The imperfections in LEL is what makes it so fun, especially in a high level game like AoE series. Pros play at such a level of refinement, that, as a viewer, I struggle to understand which way the match is gonna go. At the end of the match, unless the game was an absolutely curbstomp by one side (which rarely happens), I find it hard to pinpoint exactly where the losing side went wrong. With LEL, it's much easier for me to understand and scrutinise the game.

Agreed. He didn't miss on upgrades he did push properly with good treb number and defended them. He didn't idle tc early mid game. He didnt go for ai army. I loved watching him

When i was at 800 elo i was thrilled every time if i would be in the video. It was a mixture of hope and fear 😅

^ this part is so true-- ELO is a relative measure of skill relative to the rest of the community.

Your story reminds me of mine. I have played age with friends at lan partys and against the AI for years before i bought DE and played my first game online two years ago. I dropped down to 800 elo and improved step by step from there on. Now im at 1300. Only because i have been down there i can enjoy LEL so much. I remember exactly how it felt back then.

Yes was my immediate idea too... T90 "What does it stand for? Celts... Beautiful... " -- no, it's Country, Bluegrass, Blues. It was supposed to be a club for that, but it flourished during punk. But around 2000 it got priced out of the real estate market (Bowery, NY) and disappeared?

At the same time, while I claim I am not dumb, I definitely appreciate the discussion if how red needed to switch into scorpions. I get tunnel vision and would have been similarly at a loss, bc I very rarely build more than 2 siege workshops...

@@ColbyKingPerson i am slow and used to be around 800 elo, and then i changed my hotkeys. I have select all tc=H, and select all barracks,range,stable as B,N,M. I blindly spam with those while thinking of the correct counter, tower position, castle upgrades etc. It has helped me hit 1k elo.

@@battleforevermore yeah, I know I need to work on my hot keys. I'm terrible at keeping up with military production because I haven't yet done what you're saying. This may be the push I need to do it!

Im pretty sure that that is not true. Samurai attack like all japanese infantry 33% faster. And many other inf uu have amazing stats aswell.

@@bedwarssimple7615 While that is correct, Samurai costs way more than a champion if we're talking per unit. Sure, Japanese champs win against Celt champs, but resource-vise it's Celt champions that win vs Elite samurai

Definitely just keep playing and have fun! It usually takes 20-30 games to get competitive games, but once you power through the losses, it gets a lot more fun. Keep that TC pumping.

i hope it hasnt discouraged you. I have lost many of my first games aswell but eventoually i droped down to a elo score i belonged to and from there on i won ever second game. The beginning is the hardest part but it is worth it.

I had a game the other day where it was ALL celt paladins. It didn't help that I was playing Italians. It was like they were just gifting me the game.

Depends what build order you're going for :) for starters archers are usually 22-23 pop up (around 10:05/10:30), and scouts at around 20-21 pop up (9:15/9:40). The main thing to focus on is to have constant villager production in your Town Centre

It is decent, you can definitely go online with that. Try to learn one build order and at first do it all the time and you ll get better quickly. And then some new build order 👍

@@pianodentist6750 i probably play the age that i tech up in normally. I have no elo. When i get to feudal i prefer infantry rush or scout rush while upgrading either. If it fails i usually back up tech up to castle and build it in the most defensible location in my base.

@@jacobmosovich Those are the times you can get if you keep constant villager production in your TC. When I was first learning to play I used a couple build orders from Hera (on youtube) and just practiced them a couple times - it does work once you learn the build order :)

Because fully upgraded celt crossbows have just seven attack. They lack Arbs and Bracer. So they would deal two damage per shoot to the elite samurai. Scorpions with champions would have been the only good counter to elite samurai which is available to celts. In my opinion this match up heavily favors the japanese. The celt eco would have been the only noteworthy advantage over japanese.

@@bedwarssimple7615 In the age of Empires Wiki it lists archers as a weakness for samurai, not because of the attack damage, but because of micro. 15 microing crossbowmen still 2 shot a samurai. Scorpions as I said would have been the best choice but I would have chosen monks over champions. The player had plenty of gold, monks could have stayed safe under castle or tower fire which converting any samurai which closed on the scorpions. Celts are best used to weaken an opponent in Feudal (Hoang) when they have infantry which is stronger than scouts and can run from everyone else and a strong wood eco bonus.

Unfortunately those play exclusively META strats, except Viper and others, who joke around with out of the box ones
