Yep; In fact the Choice items all have the benefit of boosting a certain stat of a Pokemon but lock said Pokemon into using only one move. Surprisingly enough, you can also Dynamax to completely negate that drawback for as long as the Pokemon stays Dynamaxed.
Due do his vague insistence of 'scarf does different things', I'm _almost_ certain he was thinking of the _contest_ scarves. Y'know, the ones that boost things like Coolness and Cuteness. And _definitely_ is something you want in Pokémon Showdown.
@Fathimath Suhra Yup, though most Gens have no need for them, as they're only useful for Contests, so only the Gen 3-4 games had them. (and the remakes) You typically get one of each by showing a certain NPC a pokémon with a very high levelled contest stat.

I actually got called a hacker in monotype when I used scarfed Blacephalon, they thought that items such as choice scarf were taken into account when it came to speed predictions on showdown
I already did a mono red team with scolipede, porygon-z, scizor, absol shiny, toxapex shiny and assault vest zamazenta, after that i did a blue team with wobbufet, porygon-z shiny, bisharp shiny, absol, toxapex and life orb zacian
@@Alsebra yeah you are looking at a 110 basepower STAB move that after berry deals 2x damage. thats equivalent to 330 base-power , unless im mistaken, which should OKHO most things with less spdef than galvantulas spatk . tldr: yes way way upwards of 100 , if you are referring to base power.
@@Alsebra i never said it would increase the damage? the base damage is 110, times 4 because of defensinve weakness, halved because of the berry leaving you with 220 "base power" and then STAB bonus is 1.5x so 330 "power" move. I didnt do the calc for the SpAtk or SpDef of the mons involved, but either way you would expect a move with 330 power to deal quite a bit of damage, that was my point
I don't know what they all do. I know blocking moves is a common effect in exchange for a boost not unlike a Life Orb or an Eviolite but I'm quite hopeless when it comes to them. It'd be something I'd have to learn before playing Showdown, obviously
@AnalfabeticGramarNazi Ah. I usually add them in with Assault vest since blocking status moves just felt similar so I usually mixed up the two. Band usually confuses me, Scarf has an S like Speed, and Specs are glasses, and Power Lens boosts Special Attack EVs. Alright, good to know

Would love to see pineapplefred do a mono poison. Fell stinger mega beedrill can be pretty good if they don't have good counter.

Think the issue with that kid is that he probably didn't know what trick did. At least that's what I see. Most people don't expect to have their items changed after all in casual play :p

I think that for people to be able to play pokemon showdown they should make an entry questionnaire with a medium easy level, like what does such and such competitive object and things like that to make a sieve and that people like that do not enter because it seems that they are playing something other than pokemon and then lose and behave like toxics.
