This is very important topic for people to know about. “Toxic Positivity” Is a phase many people sadly use. People who view these toxic positivity players as a “idol” or a “inspiration” to them may affect them and others in the future. That’s why it’s important for people to be pure honest with themselves about a situation instead of faking it all. I’ve seen this problem mostly with “Insta Jammers” or “RU-vidrs” on both platforms. It makes me sadden to see most of these fake positivity “inspirations” people have end up wanting to be Jambassador. I hope Animal Jam will make the right choice of choosing people who will be themselves instead of trying to act fake or like others. Thank you Leamon for addressing this issue. Well done once again 👌

I miss when everyone used to be nice and stuff, but I joined right at 2017 when it started going downhill, I remember a rare player (black and tan fox with forest and stuff) called me stuff such as ugly and stupid, I was confused what they said, (only 7 or 8) but now I understand it, It's a shame they even invited their friend to come and call me stuff, :( Hope they quit and left the game,
This is why I quit AJ. I played it for like, three years, and then quit because of the toxic friendship going around. At first I didn't pay attention to it, but eventually I got roped in, and became the victim. I was actually friends with a gr00mer on there for a short period of time, Liøns, as you may know but never bothered to speak about it. I changed my user on everything so he/she couldn't find me, and thats when I knew quitting was a good decision. Thank you so much for spreading awareness about this! ♡
Yeah, I've met a lot of fake people before and they never really try to interact with their fans. I honestly don't like it either. Which is why I like to stay true to myself. And as I've mentioned to you before, I love how you are always yourself on your channel, you're one of the most honest people in this community, really. But really, though. It's a shame how people think they can't speak up for themselves or have their own opinions; Following the quiet path to "positvity" is actually really terrible and comes off as fake, but I understand why some people choose to do it. I just hate the idea of it is all, not the people who do it.
Thank you for talking about this. I’ve always been trying to be a happy and positive person but I have anxiety and low self esteem. I am always nervous to talk about my feelings because I don’t want a person to worry about me. I kind of thought the aj community was dead, but you upload so much and mention other aj youtubers that makes you look like the light in the darkness keeping the community bright and protecting us from the dark parts of the community

I feel like a lot of players (including my friends) see me as a very positive person, but if you get to know me (or anyone else) you’ll see I have emotions just like anyone else. I’m not a perfect person. I get into drama, I get upset a cuss sometimes. And most of the time putting on a mask seems like the easiest thing to do. But trust me you are emotional human being so please get off your high horse (no offense figure of speech) and realize your allowed to feel emotions and please- if all you want is Jambassador then please think of WHY you want it.
when i came back to ajpw i have decided to express myself accurately and ive had children call me mean because yeah i come off as passive aggressive sometimes but like i dont expect children to understand people who arent all super sweet kind arent always mean (yeah i can be aggressive but the rest of the time i tend to be positive especially as of late :] things have been really good and ive been feeling very poggers if i do say so myself) example my friends and i were (lovingly) bullying eachother and it caused this person to get so upset that we were "being mean to each other and fighting" that they said they would get their entire family to block and report us oh well LOL
Ahaha one of my friends and I would do the fake bullying thing with each other too. Haven't been approached yet tho since she doesn't play AJ much anymore and when she did, we usually just hung out in her den. Sucks though that some people tend to butt in and not even listen to the people telling them it's ok and a friendly thing they do xd
I hide my negative emotions alot in general because I was raised thinking my negative emotions are a burden and I hated to bring people down with me but as someone who pretends to be happy all the time... It doesn't hurt anyone but it hurts the person who fakes positivity. I'm learning to open up but the problem with bottling emotions up is that when you let them out it hits you harder. What I'm saying is fake positivity isn't healthy and being negative is okay and in my opinion being honest makes you more human and I feel like it feels more genuine. If you be open with your emotions your subscribers will feel like you trust them. Just my opinion.
Great video, as always. I’m glad that you feel comfortable talking about these things, and making us aware of scammers, hackers etc, without worrying about being “rude “ or something because it’s not rude to spread awareness, definitely not in the kind way you do! And it’s cool that you try to stay away from drama, idk it seems like so many ppl in the aj community ( Not necessarily influencers ) seem like always ready to fight or something xd. Btw I love snowflake penguins lol
I agree that it seems to be a problem but at the same time people who have been selected seem to only be people who are "fake positive" so it gets more difficult for those who want to be Jambassadors who are willing to do almost anything to gain the role. It really just depends on what AJ plans and what people are willing to do.
I’m gonna be completely real here, since the new jambassadors just got picked I have to say only TWO of them aren’t fake positive. Makes me really really upset but I can’t do anything about it.
@@LeamonPuppy I agree but with the way the world is even though mental health is a discussion people don't like to face the reality of people of being upset and I'm assuming AJ is trying to create a bubble that has "nonproblematic" people within it. I'm using quotes because maybe AJHQ has their own agenda but I could be wrong. We can only hope as more and more get announced there will be more of those individuals who are willing to speak about how they really feel
This is quite interesting, and I’ve always wanted to hear about it from an ajpw youtuber, but never have. And I have been in the fandom for about 4 or 5 years. I’ve heard talk of it, of course, but not really any videos with the subject. (I personally favor the Midnight Kitty :) )
I try to be as happy and positive around people most times but sometimes I will completely flip out, and when I’m around people that I’m comfortable around I’m myself, and I don’t as easily flip out
So uh tbh, i use to do this back in early last year and idk why(reminder i was a very horrible person last year but I have now grown from that) it was really for fame and followers since i was a VERY greedy person but yeah it was mostly for the idea of becoming liked by people. Finally someone talked about this. About the new jambassadors I agree some use fake positivity plus it’s super sus if a jammer is “positive and kind” and has “aspiring jambassador” in their bio. I just hate this kind of super positivity a lot. Even if I had 2k (I have 1.1k on instagram and 300 on youtube so I couldn’t even apply) I wouldn’t have applied because I don’t really want to fit my content to the jambassador expectations. Like, super positive and all. I like being myself. I want people to know me for who I really am. I have never been fake and will never be. It’s not worth it
I’m sorry. I watched this video and I realized I might be being a bit too positive about everything. I didn’t even know being happy all the time was bad, but I don’t like sharing my upset emotions with everyone because I like them to be happy, not to have to take on my burdens. I posted a tough video that expresses my true emotions recently, so I hope I can become a better person. Thank you for sharing

I'm definitely guilty of this methinks :pensive:, I try to stay positive simply because I remember my younger years on AJ being filled, mostly, with arguing and strife as older teens felt entitled to say the most out of pocket shit on a children's game they could get away with... myself included, I definitely contributed to that hostile environment. I've gotten older, and I've been doing better mentally, so much so that I've willed the courage to start revisiting AJ again. I swear everytime I log in I find someone being racist or misogynistic or just otherwise bigoted for the sake of "trolling" So I try to combat this by being nice to others. I compliment people's looks, I make small talk in adventures and get excited over "worthless" items we get from chests in hopes my teammates will feel joy in receiving them too, if someone jam-a-grams me asking what I'll take for an item on my trade list I usually just end up gifting them the item in my reply because i simply don't like trading. I try to be nice, I try to be positive and someone kids can come to when they need an escape from the general hostility of AJ's community... but it gets hard, y'know. I can only block and report so many people before I get tired of trying to be nice. I wonder if I'm actually making any difference, or if people just think of me as stupid or naive. I don't think trolling is "fun", I don't like when older kids talk about sex and drugs and what have you on this game meant for children, I can only handle so much bigotry before I start wishing i could throw rocks through their car windows. A lot of my positivity is fake, and I feel like a lot of people know it's fake. I'm not sure why I bother trying to keep it up. Maybe it's because I have some delusional belief that I'll impact someone, make their day, because I've been that kid who's face lit up when someone was nice to me on AJ, and I've also been that kid who was miserable and depressed because people were mean to me and I don't want anyone else to have to experience that... So I just keep being "positive."
Hello! I just wanted to comment and say as much as I appreciate awareness on this, I feel like perfectionism and toxic positivity are being thrown into the same topic. This can be harmful because it makes people like me with extreme anxiety look like we’re trying to act better than everyone and that’s not the case. it’s constantly living with the idea that you aren’t doing enough, which might come out as what you say is toxic positivity. Instead of talking about why it’s so bad, maybe include more ideas on how to make a safe space for those who do use this technique to hide their own suffering. it’s definitely a hard thing to live with, and has consumed my life, though something I do find a little fascinating is that even though people say we’re only human, they still judge us for real mental illnesses that we cannot change, and especially with the standards our society holds us to.Thank you for reading and hope this helps!
and adding onto this, there is no switch. I live every day worrying about one thing or the other, and sometimes it’s just easiest to not show it. Is it healthy? Ofc not, but this blur of what is toxic positivity and actual mental illness is really not good
Not wrong I surely agree to this. I am actually debating if I should ever make videos about myself to why I am so private to my supports and jammers that follow my art content. I try not to be to sad in my posts for jammers who struggle themselves. But tyvm for this video it’s helped me think about things 💜 Even tho this video is a yr old ty again!
In animal jam I’m sadly stuck in this faze because since I kind of in a way have depression but I don’t want people to help me or be concerned about me so I fake how I really feel. I know it’s bad, and I know I need to stop it and I’m working on it. I understand what you mean.
I honestly do the same. I usually tend to avoid talking about my depression or bad experiences and escape it with positivity online and just trying to make people happy any way that I can and hide that side of me (unless I need to give an example of something as a personal experience). I too tend to worry about straying away from the cheery act especially when it usually helps feeling ok in the moment. I get what you're saying 🥲
I think your point makes much sense, but there is one important thing we all must realize, and that things is, most of the people having this fake excitement (positivity doesn’t seem like the right word for this, I feel as if some may be real, and encouraging people to be happy is good!) are jambassadors, so they are expected to be happy, and cheerful for all the kids that play the amazing game of animal jam. The jambassadors are looked up to by young people, they see them as influencers, and they may as well be considered as such a figure. So this positivity is very much needed to boost some younger jammers moods, and days. It isn’t like things have really been easy lately... 😅 well, whatever way you may see this “fake positivity” t can very much be real, because my cousin is a RU-vidr for AJPW herself, and when I watch her videos, she is always laughing, and enjoying her self. (She is Qw072, queen wolf aj, if you want to see what I’m talking about!) so most of this is probably real, but, I don’t really watch many AJ you tubers other than you and her, so I am certain there are other youtubers I am missing that probably do use fake positivity, but I doubt it is a very common thing. Thank you for making these videos, though! They inform me a ton on the community. This was not meant as a hate comment whatsoever! I really love you and your videos! Keep doing what you do best! ❤
What’s toxic is me getting scammed all the damn time. It’s to the point I feel like quitting, I don’t think trading games are suitable for gullible people like me

Btw, great video topic. This needs to be addressed and people need to be able to be comfy sharing their opinion even when it’s negative. My fav pet in aj classic is a Squirrel, or Groundhog (only a specific one lol) and on aj play wild my fav pets are Armadillo lizards and Sugar gliders.
I would rather see an actual honest Jambassadors who is genuine than a toxic positive, fake, mean one. I don't want to see the young impressionable ones get fooled by fake people. I want to see them get inspired by ACTUAL honest Jambassadors that speak up when something is wrong (ex: LeamonPuppy)

I love this video so much I really hope aj picks somebody that isnt doing toxic/fake positivity like yes positive posts are good because they bring off positive vibes but being positive all the time and losing who you actually are isn't good being a jambassador is cool and all but don't let it make you forget who you actually are
Sometimes I fake liking something that my friend has because I want them to feel good is that wrong? Even if I am jealous of what they have I still want to congratulate them on their victories and I think this is why some people say things that they don’t really think.
Youre right its a annoying this toxic karen in a laboratory roleplay who screamed no escaping but the owner said nothing about escaping she lies of being 15 if shes 5 years old
On AJPW my favorite pet is a lovebug. :D they are so cuteeeeee. But if I find a pet ladybug on Ajc that looks exactly like the one on the logo, then that would be my favorite. So far I haven't found any. I hope they exist.
Sometimes I just feel like the outcome of someone mixing personalities. I can be serious but funny, trying to always be positive but easily negative, Perfectionist but easily Discouraged, etc..

I'mma keep this short bc I'm lazy 💔 but please y'all, stay away from these basic, pOSiTiVe, jambassador wannabe influencers. they never take criticism because they either say 'everyone has their different opinions!!!! 🥰🙌💕' or 'omg beware of this person bc they're starting drama' trUST ME. I KNOW. and what really annoys me is that they don't let any negativity swim around them (coming from the world's most negative person jsjsjsjs) and everything negative said is just gonna be stepped on with a drama label or 'we all have different opinions!!! Please keep the mean ones to yourself 🥰🥰🥰' and they all tend to suck up to any other popular person. I know so many rigged cons from wannabe jambassadors. not gonna point fingers here, but I saw several entries (which weren't the best, according to most) get picked just because the creator was famous, and they usually win for a stupid, nonexistent reason. pisses me off how better contestants had to lose. my word of advice is interact with smaller, more accepting, more creative (like leamon!! can't wait for the rest of swap 😳) and mostly, more human content creators. thanks for coming to my ted talk 🧍
I actually know someone who uses toxic positivity around someone to be their friend, not on animal jam but its still sad. I have stopped talking to them as they completely altered their personality and is really rude around me for no reason. But when the person isn't there, they apologize.
Well I haven't checked up on AJ stuff in awhile, correct me if I'm wrong but. Are jambassadors really that positive? I stopped really caring about the whole jambassador thing when jambassadors like wisteria and stuff left the community, and as far as I remember they were really true of themselves. It hurts to see people force a false personality for fame.
I'm going to be honest, I don't know if I'm an example of a person who spreads toxic positivity or not. I mean, I'm always acting friendly and nice and wanting to give everyone a chance, and not hating on people or making assumptions about them like (from what I've seen) lots of people in the community do. None of my personality or the opinions I express are actually fake, but I do kind of act more hopeful about 'saving the community' than I actually feel inside, if that counts as fake... and well, I do try to be as positive and kind as possible and to be a good role model. I'm not doing it for attention/popularity/image, my intentions are to truly help be a good influence to the community, but maybe it does count as toxic, I don't know. I'm pretty honest about everything and I'm hardly critical of things. (Not sure if it's because I don't have standards or because I'm just being nice?) I mean, I always put effort in to try and prevent drama from happening, stopping fights and solving problems between other jammers, telling everyone to consider things from the other person's point of view and all that. Does that count as a form of toxic positivity? I've actually wondered it before (not just in aj / online but me irl as a person) if I spread toxic positivity or if I'm just simply wholesome. I'm more of an optimist than a realist and I always seem to spend all my time trying to make light of things and make them more positive than they are because I really hate conflict and just want everyone around me to be happy. However, that really isn't realistic. And heck, idk if this is ironic or not, but although I'm constantly seeing the good in other people, I'm quite self-deprecative and always see the bad qualities in myself. I could go on it for a while but I think I've already rambled wayyy too much, so I'll stop now. If anyone knows what they could classify me as / wants more information, please reply and let me know because I'm really curious ^^ also if you do think I'm toxic, I won't be offended, your honesty would be appreciated XD.
I use toxic positivity to make others feel better, but I definitely have a bad habit of doing it for myself occasionally. I hate it though. I wish it wasn’t a habit.
I wouldnt say I have toxic positivity but I do try to be a happy person because its better to live your life happy than sad and worried. faking positivity is bad because you can't tell people how you actually feel and won't feel better. And my fav aj pet is flying foxes even if I don't have one XD

I am sometimes positive for certain things but sometimes its ok to be brutally honest about something. Just being one emotion and being fake towards people isnt a good example. Just be REAL and NOT FAKE! BE YOURSELF

I don’t like when animal jam RU-vidrs say bad words and just assume that there going to be a Jamasador it just so weird like you don’t have to fake being happy but when your mad don’t just start saying bad words like no tomorrow. I am not going to saw who I am taking about but I just find them very annoying 😐 and I am not even a kid! I just find it a bad influence on kids they see there favorite RU-vidr saying bad words and start saying then too, I use substitutes for bad word Fish/fudge and holy sheep instead of the real deal! That’s just my opinion though I really enjoyed the video! And you prob won’t read this bc this video is 2 years old 💀
