When I was living an abusive relationship with a man who had his priorities messed up, a cheater, an abuser, a manipulator, I would listen to Jenny Riveras music as a way to excape from my thoughts. My children also witnessed the abuse. When I finally left him and was in a MUCH better place I related to this song so strongly.

Believe it or not, this was her real life just like in the video. She was a Warrior right into the end. She fought to the bone for her children, graduated from a university and made a music career all while taking care of them. That's why she was hard core when it came to men, she didn't take💩 from no one. There's a movie of her life story on RU-vid. Just like you, I can relate seeing my mom being abused by my dad and me as an adult by my ex.

The phone thing still cracks me up, When you said 'put him in a choke hold' my mom hit my dad upside the head and one good wack on top of his head for talking to the woman he was cheating on her with, and she said 'you ain't running up my phone bill with these bitches!' whack whack My mother had 5 kids including me. Her first husband left her because of bad family blood, like he's the last survivor, and she was left with just my older brother. My mom's second husband, was this abusive. Not black eyes but at one point was kicked out of my uncle's apartment by ,his sister, my aunt. My brothers were in El Salvador but they didn't have a place of their own. She knew he was stepping out. She left him some soup she had made for dinner. When he threw it at her my aunt came out and said 'you need to go! Don't come back for your shit we'll send it somewhere.' My aunt told my uncle and he said 'I know he's your brother but I'm not gonna let a dude put his hand on my sister like that.' They helped her get on her own feet Then some years later she met my dad. He helped her raise my brothers. Yet it wasn't enough. He cheated on her and I can't blame her for not whacking him. He never struck her back. Because his father did that to my grandmother. But cheating is another form of toture to the heart. And she finally said bye.. But it was tough for her to do that. I remember it clear as day. She said she never grew up without a dad and didn't want me to grow up like that. So she gave it another go with him. He cheated again. This time the goodbye was for good. I'm glad she didn't stay with him. As much as I love him, that's a pain I won't wish on my own worst enemy. I still see my dad & was very surprised and sadded to find out two of my aunts we're being abused like this, grown ladies with grown up kids. Had been taking beatings by these guys I grew up calling uncle's and going to their houses. I never said but it happened. One of them was almost killed He stabbed my aunt like 7 or 8 times. Because she said she wanted a divorce, she found out he had a good in El Salvador & was planning to bring her over here. My uncle lost it and my cousin, while a cop but still her their daughter. She picked him up. I think he was bailed out by his work buddies. But that Aunt, got everything and now has a new guy. She is very happy now.
