Kerrick Logan This! +1000 Quake really is the pinnacle of core game mechanic. This was the only thing i was thinking about during the video. I was amazed that toxjc could keep up with him and almost win. It's really amazing job by the devs that back in the day calculated everything from weapon damage to map layout and respawn rates.

DonQuixote DeLaMancha CPMA being better design is personal preference entirely. Hell, weapon swapping is brain dead because you dont have to think about it as much as QC and fighting opponents takes less thought because you dont have to adjust for champion differences. That said, I respect your opinion, I understand you completely. That doesnt change the fact that QC is still a Quake design and the *core* design of the game is good- really good. Good enough to allow a player to develop to the point of fighting cheaters. Can't do that in a lot of other games.

I don't even play this iteration of quake, but to say that the core mechanics is vastly different across the different games is, well it's not the case. Nothing to do with "core design" in terms of Quake Champions. It's not even in the same league as Quake III OSP or CPMA. It's a casual, clunky shooter. And Toxic is top 5 best FPS player in the world, EVER. Of course he can beat a cheater! I've seen top pro gamers take cheaters down thousands of times, not just in FPS games but in others too. Like when Grubby played the map hackers in Warcraft III and Starcraft II, and beat them with pure micro and brains.

Best way to beat a cheater is at a distance i played many cheaters and beat them that way. most cheaters suck thats why they cheat so sad ppl need to cheat instead of practicing to get better. way to keep his cool.

It's a psychological thing. Some individuals have the urge to feel good about themselves, that they have achieved something and they will do anything to achieve that goal whatever means necessary. I think they shut down their rational minds (if they have any at all) and fully rely on emotions when it comes to cheating so they can say to themselves and ONLY to themselves that they did something right. They don't even know or unwittingly denying the fact that what they are doing is wrong. It's better to say you feel sorry for them than to rage at them. Heya, in the game, click [contacts] menu. Add the name of the player in "search" . A list of name will appear, right click the name of the plater > report. Always watch stats of the player before report someone, also unless you see really weird stuff (wall hack, speedhack and/or bullets touching in impossible manner) do not waste ur time report someone.

There are two types of cheaters. Skilless idiots that are still easy to beat, especially when you know they are cheating. They simply don't understand the mechanics of the game, so they can still be easily beaten and are pretty easily spotted. Then there are actual players that understand the mechanics of the game, and are cheating. These also have 2 categories: 1.) People that don't care if you can tell they are cheating or walling 2.) People who don't really lean real heavy on botting or walling Subcategory 2 is the worst.

the while hitting with his charge i think is just high ping. i always play with abig ping difference in duel and that stuff happens with everyone i face and its annoying. I love getting 'hit' by doom punches from yards away.

DeLaMancha : If he's new to quake his chances of making a kill in CPMA are zero to nothing for about 12 months. I don't think "new" generation FPS players looking to get into Quake are gonna enjoy playing Q1/Q3 somehow. QC is made for those kind of people. It's far more forgiving. And shit as a result. But not many people enjoy Q3/CPMA, only the best players who enjoy how difficult it is and how hard you have to work. That's like ... 3% of all FPS gamers today. I'm pretty sure odds are that this guy is part of the other 97%.

I've mostly played Unreal Tournament back in the day and the Counter Strike games since early 2000s. I enjoy games that require hard work and dedication to achieve excellence. I'm not a "new" generation FPS player by any means. I just thought that someone with experience with this version of Quake had an idea why this was labelled as pro vs "cheater" type video. It's not readily apparent to me, it just seems like lag to be honest and nobody seems to have explained it properly or have any concrete evidence.

@@SleepyRickyC92 Thanks for clearing that up for me. I used to play Q1 and Q2 so much but haven't played a lot of 3 and beyond. I do have a question, do they ever have duels without all the powerups in the map? It seems like because the powerups are there people take certain routes which can be predicted. I wonder if just giving the two players everything at spawn would cut down on that? Not sure if I'm making sense.

@@hammondOT you're welcome man. While there isn't power ups (like quad damage and protection), there is still items and weapons on fixed locations on the map (like old quake games). Each champ also got passive and active abilities (unlike old quake, this is unique to champions). Abilities come in two forms: passive and active. Passive abilities are mostly movement related, or can give slight benefits (double jump, crouch slide, air strafe, slightly less splash damage, less self damage for rocket jump, etc.). Active abilities however can change outcome of battle if well used, or can provide escape or advantage, but has been patched multiple times so as to not be overpowered. As of current patch active abilities are on a 1 minute cooldown timer after use, but this cooldown time can be reduced by picking up hourglasses on the map. Basically duel is still very much the same as previous Quakes, just now you got to account for abilities. Also, you get to choose 1 of 3 starting weapons (machine gun, nail gun, or shotgun), which all have stronger variation thar can be picked up on map. Item locations are fixed, and unlikely to change, because as far as I understand that is what duel is balanced around. People are given incentives to fight over the mega and heavy armour (known as red armour in previous quakes) because they give a big advantage, but since their locations are fixed, the opponent can use the time to go get other things. It's all about controlling the map and reading what you can do based on what you and your opponent have, as I understand it. You are right on the routes becoming predictable, but that's also part of the balance. The player who moves around the map most can gobble up all the armours and major items (like pacman), but he exposes himself to traps and also takes time to do so, allowing the player who is less stacked to use that time to grab items they need and to set up traps. The duel game is very balanced around positioning of items, as in grabbing an item, you give up positioning and other locations of map. This also means players who turtle up or hide to protect a lead will give up map control and likely stack advantage, so other player has a chance at comeback
