Thanks for persevering and doing the transformation for us! Truly one of the soundwave figures of all time

Micheal Bay SoundWave is underrated, The “Revenge of the Fallen” was *EH* but Michael Bay put up the redemption card with his “Dark of the moon” design! He can even break dance, the only thing I’m noticing is Takara is just now making better figures, I remember when Bee movie SoundWave first came out. I was honestly Surprised!

Have a look at CE-03 Soundwave by Cyber Era, Its a new version of this in MPM scale with amazing paint apps, quality plastic and several engineering improvements. It's still rather fiddly but it looks amazing in both modes, and even includes the New Age Mista's ravage and lazerbeak!

The transformation feels like you have minimal clearance to do everything.

The design is really good especially the overall mechanical look of it not plastic-looking. Sadly, thats the only good thing about it.

In my opinion, it's main issues is also it's main selling point. it's a studio series size Masterpiece series. the complex transformation of a masterpiece series in a studio series scale make it so complex with a tiny pieces all over it's body, that's why it's a rly hassle to transforming it. wont stop me from buying it tho. cuz hot demn, that looks fantastic

I was lucky enough to pick up the Newage version of this Soundwave, so far I have not seen many other options for this guy that have beaten the Newage one, which is unfortunate cause this was a really cool design for Soundwave.

I do wish there was a masterpiece for every figure that has a studio series. As a no compromise person, neither option in great with gaps in MPM and meh accuracy for Studio Series

I think that if this were the same size or larger than the Mista Soundwave figure it could've worjed far better .

Ha ha! This video is up there with Bens Collectables review of the Toy World TLK Prime in terms of his transformation frustration! It also reminds me of Peaugh’s less than complimentary review of Transformers Prime Airachnid. Figure even ‘sounds’ cheap when you are transforming it, if that makes sense?

Omg! This Dotm Soundwave figure is absolutely badass!! And it looks better and much improved than Studio Series version(except complicated transformation)!

The QC issues on this is gonna inflate the price of the Newage Mista. As if the current market price on that thing isn't high enough. Gotta admit, horrible tolerances and materials set aside, the engineering is just amazing. Especially with the way the legs were handled.

If some company decides to upscale this figure and fix a few issues..it will be an amazing piece to have. Hopefully someone does.

I wish Transformers Studio Series can do Transformers Dark Of The Moon Soundwave 2.0 to look more the actual CGI design in the Dark Of The Moon movie and neck doesn't break easily it's really well made and almost like a masterpiece because the studio series Transformers Dark of the Moon Soundwave is not very accurate to the actual CGI design of Soundwave from Transformers Dark Of The Moon movie.

And it's not trying to compete with Newage Mista. It's trying to compete with studio series and as far as movie accuracy, paint, and aesthetics it wins hands down. Don't forget, on the studio series Soundwave those same front bumper side pieces were nearly impossible to rotate without popping of.

It's funny because when you put the robot mode alongside the Studio Series version, I actually think I prefer the simpler look of the SS figure. Accuracy isn't everything in my book XD But holy crap. You'd think, in 2022, most companies would realise that they need to make a figure able to hold up under the pressure of its own transformation? Because seeing how this thing flew apart, and for $50?? What a joke.

Glad I got Mista, which you can still buy from ShowZ. Honestly what was going on with the build of this figure. It definitely was not tested or QCed at all.

this could be classified as a pseudo parts former because of the bits that falls off that needs to be reattached everytime you transform 😆

That's not great to hear... This is literally the first 3rd party figure I've ever bought without seeing a review first. I was scrolling through TF Source, and my head nearly exploded when I saw this beautiful thing. I do love customizing figures, so hopefully I can make this thing work out....

It is alot to do especially with the small parts but your also trying to go fast a transformers transformation is supposed to be at least smooth no matter how much you have to do to get it to alt mode to rovot

The moment you start hearing anxiety in Primevsprime’s voice, you know this figure is gonna be a nightmare. I do very much agree that the concept is pretty cool. Though, it is sadly not executed good. Anyways, great review as always!

The concept of a Studio Series with some Masterpiece level engineering is cool, but on paper is not executed well, I will much prefer if he was a Masterpiece scale Soundwave, because maybe the engineering would work better for something a little bit bigger because there is more room to move and shift panels and robot component

Shame about the quality. What stands out to me is the movie-accurate headlights on the knees. I know it’s a small detail but DOTM Soundwave is honestly of of my favorite Bayverse designs

Every version of this character has had clearance issues, outside of legend/cyberclass scale. I want to pick it up for my dotm display but if the plastic really is that cheap I dont want to waste my money instead of just putting away more for when an actual good dotm mpm megatron comes out with halfway decent paint

I might be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that China's having a hard time sourcing decent quality polymers for industrial production (the military could well be using it all for their new helmets, guns, vehicles etc..with the Taiwan situation escalating they are modernising a lot of gear which is now polymer based) which is part of their economic troubles right now, this figure could be a sign of that, it was well designed but the factory was only allotted inferior polymers to work with since a very small scale production toy for a very niche market would hardly be considered very important to 'national security' and the welfare of the economy.

Hope their BBM Optimus prime comes out as well. "UHH ANOTHER BBM OPTIMUS UHHH WE HAD ENOUGH UHHHH" dude I do not care, the more primes the better and that prototype was way different than everything HAVE YOU SEEN THAT TRUCK MODE?

Paying more and getting less. Sure the SS had a bit of a backpack and was slightly less accurate, but he didn't fall apart and came with Laserbeak. I have a bad feeling about their BB Prime.

I wonder if by adding super glue/nail polish on the balljoints, it actually fixes the figure overall

I feel like another 3P is gonna make a version of this mold with better qc and maybe even the Mercedes logo

Are we ever likely to get a revisited SS version of Barricade from TLK or even a MPM version of him??

I mean, for the most part, the transformation is actually really clever, with how the hood ends up on the arms and especially how the legs transform. As far as i know, it's actually the only version of the character where those rear pieces of the car (the ones with the gas caps) actually form the thighs like they're supposed to, instead of them being faux/other parts. Also, the proportions in robot mode are more appealing to me than any other version, with how 'tight' the torso comes together, and how balanced the upper and lower legs are. In other versions the lower legs tend to be much thicker than the upper legs, which tends to look wonky/clumsy, and the shoulders are spaced further apart to the point where there's almost a "gap" between them and the torso, creating negative space in the silhouette where there really isn't supposed to be any. It's like 80% there, what lets it down is materials and tolerances like you said, and how some parts of the transformation just don't look like they're thought through all the way, especially the clearances. It just doesn't feel finished. But oh well, this is close enough that there's the chance for a KO to come in and get it the rest of the way there. Weird that we're hoping for KOs to fix the quality control these days.

It's a bummer that I'm usally the only one that likes DOTM Soundwave sometimes since he's like a badass bodybuilder unlike his Satellite form.

How and why do third party companies pick the characters they do? I don’t hate Soundwave, but there are borderline definitive versions of TLK Optimus, Lockdown, Hound, Hot Rod, Galvatron, Dino etc. all from 3rd party companies, when I’d much rather have a truly great Rachet figure from the first movie, or Ironhide. Ratchet is the biggest deal to me because his MPM does not cut it imo. That backpack is something else. But with ‘Unique Toys’ level engineering Ratchet could look almost exactly as he does in the movie. Maybe it’s because there have been MPM versions of a lot of Movie 1 characters so they’re afraid they’ll get sued a lot easier. Unique Toys probably realized Hasbro is never gonna make an MPM Lockdown, so they took up the challenge. In any case, Hasbro needs to step up their game, studio series is nice but getting more MPMs on the level of Movie 1 Optimus would be awesome.

it’s not the transformation or scale that i think weighs down this figure. when it comes to buying TF toys i’m actually more likely to buy near SS-scaled figs. i believe it’s just the qc issues that really drag this thing down. but i'm pretty impervious when it comes to complex transformations anyhow. if a third party out there going to remake this, i *pray* they don’t make it mpm scaled. there was a reason this toy was hyped…

Damn I dodged a bullet, only had enough for a few figures so was debating between this and Mista and was going to get this one because it was cheaper and looked nice in the images. Got Mista on impulse because it was shinier though thank goodness

While this is a really cool figure it would be better at a slightly bigger scale so that its not so difficult or finicky and maybe a stronger material. Other than that not a bad figure. 4/5 stars

When I had tjis figure the legs snapped of clean

The main appeal for me of this thing is the extra color, but it’s not enough to make me want to buy him in the slightest.

I did get this toy lab DOTM soundwave but I accidentally snapped the hinges on the waist for transformation, but I use krazy glue to glue it back together so everything is ok, but I’m never ever going to transform him again

We need an fourth party companny to fix it

Why do newage and magic square do such a better job? You said that this thing can't accomplish deluxe scale with masterpiece engineering but newage and magicsquare are legends scale and have no issues

Oh wow, as someone who owned the Human Alliance DotM Soundwave, this seems to have taken the basic transformation framework of that and improved it with modern engineering. That one wad a super pain to transform too! It's too bad about the build quality because it sure looks super nice!

This is SMALLER than the Newage Mista Wave!? I thought it was going to be bigger, since we can very clearly visibly see the plastic seems poorer quality.

İnferior Soundwave hehe.i like the size of it,but we already got newage one.But it is possibly one of the best deluxe scale 3rd party figures,metallic gray looks better than silver.
