If Mattel can give us the Disney Pixar Lightyear Blast & Battle XL-15 (can be modded into a G.I. Joe / Cobra Conquest), Disney Pixar Lightyear Capture & Protect Mission Ship (can be modded into a G.I. Joe S.H.A.R.C.), Disney Pixar Lightyear Test & Crash XL-01 (not sure what it's the equivalent of), WWE Wrekkin' Slam Mobile (red or blue car), and WWE Wrekkin' Slambulance (works as an ambulance, or can be modded into a police van or the G.I. Joe Coyote from Renegades), then Hasbro can give us some 1/12 scale vehicles.

I'm with you on the whole big company crowdfund kick, but I am seriously thinking about throwing into this one. I would pay $275 for a Dragonfly with Wild Bill off the shelf. Now that it's funded already I might just look at it as a preorder if I toss some money down. My main concern if I do jump on board is space. My brother and I share a residence and collect as a team. He said he'd go in with me on it if I can come up with a decent display option. For now I'm just going to think about that and let the deadline edge closer as I consider everything.

The Dragonfly has always been my favorite Joe vehicle. I backed this thing before I even saw all the bells and whistles. I don't like to look at it as crowd funding, but more like made to order, and the company won't make them unless enough orders are placed. Not defending Hasbro at all, just kinda how my brain looks at it. This is the first Haslab I've put money into, and likely the only one. I'm actually in a unique position where this thing isn't actually going to cost me a dime. The place I work, I accrue vacation time, and when it isn't used it expires. Before it expires I can add that time to my paycheck, see where I'm going here?😁 I'm with you on the batplane, Ninja. That big hunk of plastic was not worth the asking price, and I didn't go for it. Hasbro is gonna milk the crap out of the action figure theme and all of its components. They gonna keep high jacking prices and putting out f-up deals to get the most money out of this dying toy theme for sure. Action figures are bound to disappear. Nowadays, kids are not really into action figures. They are hooked on video games and doing stupidities on social media. As soon as our generation ends, so will action figures and all that comes with it. You could see it! 95% of the time that I go toy-hunting, the people in the toy isles are adults buying toys for themselves. Very based reasoning on the HasLab project. I didn’t back the Hiss because it seemed over-engineered, and full of stuff it didn’t need. The DragonFly is sick looking, and the additional parts make sense. It’s also much more valuable with the price. The base offering is good. It really GIT good if you add the obviously gonna hit tiers with the extra figures. Now you got $100 in figures, and a $175, 32 damn inch Helicopter. Peace ❤

Good to hear your thoughts as always. It feels like companies, Hasbro included, are reacting to the recent EOV failure. Except Mattel? I think they missed the mark with the WCW stage thing. You made good points all around. I did think it was sus that they are moving on to the Dragonfly but we have not seen the HISS tank yet. Even if Habro posted something like an early production run version or even, like, the boxes or whatever, that would be nice. I am not sure if I will get a Dragonfly as there are a lot of upcoming purchases for the year, I am sure. Once the Dragonfly figure unlock situation is more known, I will be able to make a decision. I think it would be fitting if they included some version of General Hawk as he is a popular character and an answer for Cobra Commander who was included with the HISS. Man, I hope the next Classified Haslab is a Rattler or a Thunder Machine
@brettwood1351
@brettwood1351 Год назад
Rattler might be too big. I honestly thought we'd get the Thunder Machine, but now I wonder if they will alternate Joe-Cobra on the Haslabs. Thunder Machine also has the benefit of being able to do Drednok variants for the figures.
@schadenfreudeind
@schadenfreudeind Год назад
@@brettwood1351 Yeah, Rattler might be too big. But they did the Sail Barge, so maybe? It makes sense that they would alternate between good guys and bad guys. The next round would probably be Cobra. Maybe a water vehicle like the Moray or Water Moccasin? I don't think either is as interesting as the Thunder Machine. Maybe they will be in the middle of a Dreadnoks rollout by next year, so the Thunder Machine would fit
@brettwood1351
@brettwood1351 Год назад
@@schadenfreudeind Also, if they did a Rattler, they might want to do it in the same scale as the Skystriker. Water Vehicles generally don't seem as popular, and if they do anything there, I think it'd be the Whale, or a Shark. Shark would be a good way to get something like Torpedo or Deep Six, or even Shipwreck variants too.
@schadenfreudeind
@schadenfreudeind Год назад
@@brettwood1351 I agree that water vehicles are a tough sell outside of maybe the Whale? For that same reason, I was sort of surprised that they released Torpedo and Copperhead with the current waves because I didn't think they would be getting into water-based figures yet. Mainly because water-based pieces are tough to display and I doubted they would be doing any water vehicles to support the water figures. But I guess they do need to rotate through the characters and Torpedo and Copperhead are at least solid mid-tier. In my mind, I sort of thought they would try a Cobra water vehicle for the next Haslab and then answer with the Whale the following year. The Whale is huge and is sort of a water and land piece

I suspect that one reason why Hasbro is pushing the Dragonfly campaign before the HISS Tank ships might be for logistics. If both products are coming from the same assembly line in the same factory, waiting until the HISS Tank ships means that there will be significant downtime where Hasbro either pays the factory workers to do nothing or loses their factory allocation to some other product line or company.

Spot on with the HISS Tank thing. I'm okay with this chopper's price (it could be lower, but I can accept $275), but the fact that the HISS Tank isn't out yet means I can't trust the product itself. But with there being a limited window to get this, it feels like Hasbro is really playing on that FOMO. I love Wild Bill (One of my favorite Joes), and I had a hand me down Dragonfly from an older cousin. One thing I remember clearly is how dissapinted and sad I was when my Dragonfly broke. I can't wrap my mind around how people justify $275 for a plastic vehicle made by a company that has a track record of bad QC and quality (Even worse as of the last couple of waves). Do I love how it looks? Absolutely, but just like the crap Grid Iron Studios makes. You can polish a turd, make it shiny and pretty, and sculpt it however you'd like, but its still a turd and when it breaks, good luck getting your money back or a replacement.

They're asking for another HASLAB but haven't delivered on the HISS tank. I have my reservations about HASLAB but I've gotta be honest. HASBRO swung for the fences and connected with this Dragonfly. Sadly, it's not a home run. I'll call it a solid triple. The offering is solid and the load out is outstanding. The price however? Hmmmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔 $275 for a fully armed, 3ft helicopter (top, bottom, and middle) with lights and effects vs. a $350 car for half the size and 1 figure. This just proves that HASLABs can be cheaper if the want them to be. But since collectors have shown that we're willing to pay, they don't have to be cheaper. 10K backers in around 30 hours. This thing is going to reach all the stretch goals and to be honest, I can see the value in this (including the 4 unlockable tiers). HASBRO might get my 💵💵💵💵💵 for this one.

I am sorry @Articulated Ninja but this project could not be a retail release. There are only two retailers left in the game and NEITHER one of their corporate buying teams would have bought this item from a DEAD brand. Realize please that to retailers GI Joe is a dead brand the day that they announced that all support for that video game was stopped. There is no movie, game, show, or cartoon for this brand. There is no reason a corporate buyer for Wal-Mart or Target would even consider buying this product. I have worked inside one of these retailers and had a relative retire from the other believe me the stories I could tell you about how their practices are more responsible for all our gripes as toy collectors, would astound and baffle you. It is their ordering and inventory systems themselves that cause these distribution issues, and the worst part is they will never change it or do anything about it, for they feel it is what has kept them in business while everyone else is closing. I still sent that DM through Facebook if you ever want to hear any of the stories about how bad the retail system is truly.

Size (that’s what she said). I actually had a 1:18 scale Blackhawk that was nearly the size of this thing and it was a nuisance to say the least. While it held 12 figures (not including the pilot and co pilot mind you) it was a pain to display and I eventually sold it. I already know the issues with a vehicle this big and would rather avoid them. Don’t worry. Just because I comment doesn’t mean I care 😂😂😂

I’m sure there’s people that want this and not the HISS. So the sooner they get this funded, the sooner the ones who want the helicopter will be made.

I didn't back the hiss tank and it's not irrelevant to me because overall it sucks people don't have product 1 before the company tries to sell product 2 basic premise. It's cool though.

Take aways are that Hasbro got this funded for first level because it's a desired army builder. It has lights and a moving rotor. It has a stand. It has good looking features for the whole thing. A working winch. Customizable payloads. And the Wild Bill looks good. The next three tiers are just figures but it will remain to be seen whether three figures is enough to drive past their tier goals. For anyone that bought in, be happy for them. The usual rife and strife will still ensue. I do think the parts count for how many things move and require assembly on the line equate to what they're asking for it. I'm just waiting for someone to attach a drone somehow to it to make it truly fly.

Honestly, I feel, no company is making any other company look bad. It's just us collectors that come with these assumptions. $60 Batmobile was good but it was not accurate to scale and also color and structure wise. If Todd made it more accurate for 120 too that would have sold like hot cakes. I feel your point that Dragonfly can be 220 or 230 ish... but also consider that big companies have big margins too. If you do custom helicopter at that scale and details without the figure too, it goes beyond $500 easy. So am kind of fine with the pricing of 1/12 vehicles around $250. The individual views can differ, but if we all compare with options around then that's a fair debate.

You basically hit the nail on the head as to why I feel funny about multi-billion dollar companies using the crowdfunding model. At best it's shameless e-begging by a company that could afford to pay for the tooling and sell it on Pulse as a direct to consumer exclusive. At worst it's a company, taking advantage of fomo to get an interest-free loan from its customers. Full disclosure, I was never going to buy this, even if they found a way to bring it to retail. I just don't have space for it. I'm glad that the people who want it can get it though. This is a great product, and the price is good--for a crowdfunding project. Ultimately the crowdfunding model drives up the price because there's going to be a much smaller quantity of these things made.

What this shows is that Hasbro CAN deliver when they want, which makes it more imperative that people call it out when they don't. This might be the first Haslab project I get (I do regret not getting Unicron and the Sentinel but not the others), depending on how bad the Australia Tax is. I hate that Hasbro are crowdfunding but if they are too cowardly/risk averse to put a Dragonfly into retail stores then I'd rather have it crowdfunded than not at all

I see where you're coming from and it's hard to refute what you're saying because you're right. That said, we have no clue what's going on at Has'bruh. We are outsiders looking in. When we learn of Haslab and we hear "it's for dream projects" we suddenly imply our standards of what is considered a "dream project." I have listened to what Emily and Lenny have said in other interviews and how Emily is the "dream killer." It paints the picture that Lenny has all these things he would like to do and my guess is, the HISS and the Dragonfly were probably meant to be retail, but Emily told him it wasn't in their current budget to do. So they opted to use Haslab, since that funding doesn't come directly from internal budget (obvious the design/management team is paid from internal funds, this is just production and distribution.) They're using Haslab a loophole around internal budgets. Again, that's just my guess for why these projects don't seem as big or as robust as we think they should be. I went ahead and backed it, since I missed out on the HISS. As of this typing it's already at 11K, well on the way to tier one. If it funds all the way to tier three the value increases. I suppose it's like gambling. You thrown in and hope you land big. I am almost positive one of the hidden unlocks is Airborne. He's the Helicopter Assault Trooper that was not only pictured in the vintage Dragonfly box art, but his name was also on the cockpit. Considering that they are including a "sticker sheet" there is already room to add, "Franklin E. Talltree" a.k.a. "Airborne" to it, so one could recreate the vintage box art. My wish is....they include Doc, but we'll see.

I had the exact same thought man. Where is the Hiss? I did not order a Hiss as the price point was way more than I would ever pay for a tank I had no love for in the original line. Never liked the og design. But the fact this new Haslab dropped before their last Classified has shipped raised all sorts of red flags for me. I really want the Dragonfly. It's a perfect representation and a great course correction, but I'm still on the fence about giving that kind of money when the qc is still unknown for the Hiss offering. I dunno, I may be a last minute shopper on this, or it could be a pass.

Skystriker also suffered from them running THREE Haslabs at once. The Rancor failed, because after the EoV it was one the worst offerings, but the Proton Pack apparently was a good value for what it is. I don't know what they were thinking though running that many at that time. The Proton Pack at least needed to be done when the movie was in people's minds, but I don't know why the pushed the Skystriker and the Rancor then.

If Hasbro quality were actually reliable, I might consider this. I just don't trust what they're going to send out with their track record on cost cutting. Also, you gotta consider your end game on 6" GI Joe. The 3.75 collection takes up massive space. Am I just going to have a duplicate collection at twice the size? Gotta draw a line somewhere.
