I wanna do this on my 2011 Hyundai sonata. I don't know if it's the valve stem seals but it's what I'm gonna be replacing next. So far, I've already had the valve cover gasket replaced, pcv valve to try and relieve this oil consumption problem... Thanks for the video, it helps give me a good idea of what to look forward too.

Hi Sir! Thank you for posting this video.I recently bought a 2000 Corolla XE Lovelife with 2E 1300cc engine with 97KMS Odo Reading. I just had a recent oil change 3 weeks ago(with toyota regular oil), changed clutch(the whole replacement kit), air element, fuel filter oil filter, spark plugs, drained, radiator fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid and replaced it with Genuine Toyota Parts and fluids. and then I had a 300km roundqtrip to Tarlac. I noticed a white/bluish smoke everytime i hit the pedal(during overtakes or hard starts). I used a petron blaze 100 or shell super premium 97 octane to my belief that the fuel will "clean" or reduce the carbon deposits inside the engine. Normally, after driving, before i turn off the engine, I was looking for a water product that comes out from the exhaust. but it was greasy black instead with a strong smell. and to my surprise, i was only averaging 5kms/l in city(40-60kph) and 9kms/l in highway(60-90kph) driving My mekaniko says that he is not seeing any problems with it.. though the engine was running smooth even after the long drives and manila traffic. What can you recommend on this issue of mine. Do you recommend any shops that i can visit within makati, pasig, or qc? Or can you personally check the unit? haha

a 6 feet nylon rope to prevent valve falling into piston right??

How tight do the cam bolts need to be, I expect you don't have a torque wrench .

Can you replace the camshaft without removing the cylinder head? And can you do it without detaching the distributor??

How many kilometers did the engine do before the oil seal problem? And have you rebuilt the cylinders ? At how many km? I would like to know because i have a 2E engine with 252 thousand km. :) Cheers

I recently purchased a 1996 toyota camry 2.2 with 97,000 miles, obviously it sat for many years unused, it been i perfect car so far except one thing ,oil consumption, 1 quart every 1000 miles, do you think its piston rings or valve seals????

Nice Job!! My 3E is next as I am fouling #2 and #3 plugs after 500 miles. But I know they are all leaking tool. i love how light the valve springs are that you can just depress them by hand with the vice grips. Thanks for the video.

Sa pansin ko din pagbinubunot ko un dipstick nagbabago un minor nababa idle nia pagbinalik ko un diostick bumabalik din un ya.ang idle nia...anu kaya un sir?

when you put the keepers back on eith vice grips, the valve stem sat higher than normal. will it slip into place when you run the engine?

when I removed my old seals, part of the rubber from the seals remained. I was wondering why I did not feel any click when I pushed the new seals on. After removing the 3rd seal and inspecting, I noticed a ring of rubber missing from the bottom of the old seal. I looked in the engine a there was the missing rubber still stuck in there. I had to remove the new two new seals I had just installed and clean out that old rubber. :-)

Nice video. I've done this rope maneuver before about 2yrs ago on my mazda astina 180se DOHC. The springs were extremely hard to press down (it really was a pain in the axx) so I had to design a tool to press it down so that those keepers could clip in....My wife's Toyota Tazz has the same problem now. After watching your video just using a vice grip to push the springs down made me wonder if the Toyota 2e springs are softer to press down. Bcoz on the mazda that'll never work.

I've got massive white smoke coming from my exhaust as soon as i start the engine ,gas is getting into the oil and its definitely not the head gasket as the coolants not getting into the oil and other than the possibility of the rings -stems /guides etc being worn would the valve stem seals be a possibility ? this is a 20 r that was not started in 8-10 years and after finally cleaning/setting the carb where it idled properly etc -this began so figured i'd ask your opinion ty

I was in holyday drove for 3500 miles and ive put around 11 litres of oil so its loosing quite a lot. Anyone knows if these seals are the problem or it can be the piston rings.all my exaust is full of oil.

You can do this using compressed air instead of using the rope method...much faster and you dont have to turn the engine over........

Are you suppose to rotate engine till piston goes up ?

To mention that at 125 mph in 10 minutes it burned 2 liters of oil. But at 70mph it doesnt lose that much

Ang husay naman po kuya, galing galing!!! Kuya ask ko lang kasi ung skd ko na 12 valve nag overheat kasi nalimutan mag lagay ng tubig tsaka maluluwag yung hose pero ok na sya. After na mangyari yung overheat nag start na po syang mamalya at mausok. Sinilip ko sparkplug tulad din po sa inyo maitim at malangis. Nag pa tanong nadin ako sa mga mekaniko ang swestyon po nila ay valveoilseal at ipa machineshop, medyo malaki gastos pag ganun gawin ko eh sa tantsa ko naman po di aabot sa ganon kasi pag nalilinis ko sparkplug pino naman po manakbo. At my ownrisk pwede ko pong gawin yung ginawa nyo, mga mag kano po magagastos ko sa materyales at ano dapat bilhin ko? Tapos yung sa tali po, ililipat ko din po ba sa pangalawang butas? Maraming salamat po kuya, more vids pa po para madami matuto!
