In addition to the strength to weight ratio of that crossmember/skid, I really like that the drive line hardware is more accessible than it is with my old indestructible Iron Pig.
I watched this on mute since I’m in a place I can’t hear it. Do you leave the two screws hanging below the skid plate? Seems like a rock will tear those apart.
Good stuff, pros and cons you thought of compared to the Ironpig skid? Seems like a bit more bang for buck since you get both trans and tranny protection. What you think?
Gray Industries Skid pro’s: 1/4” plate, hardware protection, reinforcements along the length with great welds and the way the T.C. Skid is tied into the crossmember super stout. The shape of the skid is shaped for strength. Priced lower then the Ironpig skid. Cons: weight.Pictures of the Ironpig skid on there website appears that their crossmember/skid has no lateral reinforcement with two skids and simply welded onto the crossmember. Cheers!
