The drift scene is only 1 part, of the greater car genre. That doesn't take away, that it reinforces it. Honestly, the AE86, is a reminder, that cars evolve, and become better built, but we shouldn't lose vision on what is important. Every day people drive cars, not every one can afford high end racing machines. You can tell decades later, to this day, manufacturers keep that in mind.

I am a sucker for RX7 even if some turboed them just due to the redline and rotary engine haha. Actually I don't mind turbo at all if it still sounds good...I won't even mind hybrid if they sound good . But problem is, they don't (yea yea 918, not like I can afford that).

Rhe ugly F80 BMW m3s roam the streets everywhere in yasmarina blue, and M2 can barely sell with 2017 models still in inventory for local dealers. The only popular sport and performance car that is proper and popular is Lamborghini Hurucan where I am, or the old Porsche Cayman. I've not even seen a 997 911 that Isn't a turbo S. 996 is a unicorn despite its cheap pricetag, I guess no one wants them. I've only seen a AE86 ONCE. At least FT86 is selling like hotcakes...Then again...So are STI in my area (highest STI sale in America). Alfa 4c are brand new even for 2015 models and discounted like crazy. Still...Nobody wants one. Proper Sports cars are dying and too many people who buy them are speccing them completely wrong half the time. It's just for tax purposes to them, or the ideal of having a pretty sports car. They don't care about the cars themselves. Even half of the Hurucan owners pretty much just get it to take their girls to dinner and drive it in city rather than beating them in the twisties.
