Thanks so much! Worked on our 2007 Solara. SUMMARY: 1. Get in, close door. Insert and withdraw Master Key 5X; 5th time leave key in. 2. Open and close driver door 6X. 3. Remove Master Key; Insert new key and wait 60 sec until security lite goes off. 4. Remove new key; insert Master Key and start car [not sure if this step is necessary. 5. Turn off car and new key should be programmed! NOTE--there are different sequences for different Toyotas. For The REMOTE On The 2007 Solara/Camry [and others]: 1. With Door OPEN, insert Master Key in ignition and withdraw 2X 2. With key remaining OUT, close and open the driver door 2X; 3. Insert key and remove. 4. Close then open driver door 2X; insert key; close door 5. Turn ignition to 2 clicks to ON [not start] then off and remove. 6. Power locks should lock then unlock automatically 7. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 secs. 8. Immediately press and hold the lock button on remote for 2 sec. 9. Doors should lock and unlock once = success. If lock/unlock cycles 2X, then repeat steps 7 and 8 again. "There It Is"
There are several different sets of instructions to program these keys published on line. I tried 5 unsuccessfully before finding this which worked great on my 2007 Solara. THANKS BROCK.
I have a question. Before programming did your new key turn in the ignition. I'm trying to program the key, but not sure if the hardware store messed it up because it doesn't even turn in the ignition. Not sure if this is a Solara security feature or an issue with the way the key was cut. I've heard others say it turns and cranks the engine when cut (not programmed), but it just won't start the car. In my instance I can't even turn the key in the ignition or crank the engine.
For the impatient: 1) Buy and cut your new transponder key 2) Start at 8:06 for the instructions: 3) Put master key in and out 5 times, keep in on 5th time 4) Open and close door 6 times 5) Put in new key 6) Wait 60 seconds / until red security light on dashboard stop flashing 7) Remove new key 6) Start engine with OLD key for 5+ seconds 7) Car will start with NEW key now.
Thank you so much for uploading! An auto locksmith near me wanted to charge $50 to program an extra key I had bought for my mom's car but with your video I was able to DIY it and save haha
Hello Mr. Adams I followed your video step by step, everything is working except the security light never stopped. I did several times, same scenario. What am I doing wrong? I have 2007 Toyota Camry, bought uncut keys and took care of the keys through Ace Hardware. Security blinker keep continued for over 3 minutes. Again everything working except the engine does not turn on. Please advise. Thanks
Please help, I did the steps on a 2010 RAV4 and the security light doesn't stay on after step 3. Is there a time table or something? Please I really need help.
With Toyota's depending on the generations but this one in particular has 2 different chipped keys. If it doesn't work you possibly bought the wrong chip key , I believe it's the D dot chip key and G chip key.
Only works for older non-smartkey cars which would automatically unlock as soon as he pulled the door handle. The physical key only work for doors, glove-box and trunk but not ignition mode as shown. Actually XSE is the best model. Pretty rare model but I still like my plain old SE with JBL, etc. P.S. - If you press and hold the start button without your foot on the brake then will not only light up the navigation/audio and clock in the accessory mode but start AC and look like it does with a mechanical key with the whole panel lit up as in ignition mode only not start the engine. Oh, the things you lean by accident. This trick will become useful in summer for pre-cooling the car.
hey what's the part number or FCC ID of that remote. My Camry has the integrated key remote that I dislike and was wondering if I could use that remote type instead
How did you know what keys to purchase? Obviously it’s a 07 Camry with the dot in key is there anything else that makes a difference. Where did you get you key cut?
We tried this but the security light will not turn on steady, it just stays dark. Didn't work for us. Our copy key has the same dot and is OEM. Tried this 6-7 times and won't program.
Worked with my 2007 Camry. No blinking security light so I just waited 60 seconds before removing the new key. Toyota dealer wanted $80 to do this- I did it in less than 5 minutes.
Great! I am wondering about 2007 Camry too. Most people said it didn't work on 2007 Camry. Do you know why - perhaps not leaving a new key in 60 seconds?
I tried these instructions 3 times and it didn't work on my car. 2007 Toyota Camry LE. After performing the steps the immobilizer light stays on in the video but it doesn't do that in my car. Any other suggestions? I also tried gas pedal + break pedal method and the key in ignition ON/OFF 5 times.
maybe, you bought a wrong key (wrong transponder chip), cause there is combination between the key it self & the chip. for example 4C and 4D are not the same chip. you can get TOY43 type key with a different chip.
I have the same issue as Shiraj Panjwani. I don't believe that new key has anything to do with entering in programming mode peek-a-boo which is what Shiraj Panjwani has mentioned above.
What specific software do I need to program the valet key for a 2009 Camry U.S built?? Do not reply with a generic answer - I need a company name, product number, model number, etc.
Will this work on a 2005 Toyota Tacoma dbl cab truck..........and can it screw up my ignition so that my one and only key does not work anymore?...Thanks!
In that case, I think you need to go to the dealer. The valet key will open the door and start the car, but will not open a trunk or the locking glove box.
Yep, you can use your valet key to unlock the vehicle, and start the car. The only thing you can not do with the key is unlock the trunk with it. I have been using the valet key for my Camry for seven years.
Doesn't work on 2009 Camry. Also video has a ton of wasted time, walking around car, opening and closing glove box. Jump to 9:00 to see the reprogramming steps.
You must have a master key. You can not make a copy of the transponder code from the VALET key. The valet key will not open the glove box AND YOU CAN NOT PROGRAM A NEW KEY FROM IT.
It worked with my 2007 Camry. Security light did not blink so I just waited 60 seconds before removing the master key. I tranfered the chip from my old broken key to the new key.
So I have a question, once the key was cut (not programmed) did the key turn in the ignition? I'm thinking the hardware store messed up my key because it opens the doors and manual locks (not as easily as my master) but it doesn't turn in the ignition on my 2006 Solara. I'm not sure if this is a security feature or an issue with the way the key was cut. I tried this programming and it didn't seem to work. Any help is appreciated
+drac464 I cannot remember, I know it would not even try to start until programming completed. Any chance your car has had over 12 keys made in the past ? Be sure to follow all the steps and begin correctly.
