In this video I review a 2002 Toyota Camry XLE, which is the 5th generation or XV30 model sold from 2002 to 2006 model years. In this video I do a full walkaround, interior overview, cover technical specs and take it on a test drive.
Thanks to Wholesale Auto Connection for the use of this Camry!

I've got a 2002 with 80k miles. CDX with leather seats. I would have preferred cloth seats, but there isn't a lot of choice of these vehicles available. I'm in the UK so the fuel consumption is considered quite high due to the high price of fuel. Its also rare so is also considered a bit of a classic already. There are probably less than 300 left on the road from this generation including the 3.0 v6 and 2.4 of all variants. We didn't get a long wheelbase version. We didn't get any uk market camry after 2006 until 2019 when all that is avaliable is a hybrid version. There are a few imports from Japan that are about but I have only seen them for sale online. If I keep mine good it will go up in value. The market asking prices have gone up about £1000 in the last 3 years.

Bought my wife a 2004 LE touring edition with about 160,000 miles private sale 3 years ago for $2850 with service records after having it inspected by an independent mechanic. It also has the wood trim, sun roof, and gold lettering, so it’s about as pimped out as an LE can be. We’ve really only had to do some exhaust work owing to living in the rust belt. Good in the snow, drives smooth, big trunk, good fuel economy, beautiful interior, unparalleled reliability. She loves it. And we’re saving about $500/year by not having collision on it. Already it’s been a great deal and hopefully we’ll have her for several more years

Is it a V6?
@s0129570
@s0129570 Год назад
@@lilyofthevalley4740 No, it is a V4. Still has sufficient power for us. Cruises at 80 without issue. I read some fear the V4 engine can get more easily damaged by overheating, so I just watch the coolant and told my wife to pull over immediately and have it towed if it ever starts to overheat. Thankfully, that hasn’t happened. It needs new sway bar links and it burns about a quart of oil every 3k miles that I monitor and top off. That’s it. We’ll have had her for 5 years in November and now at 210k.

I have owned a 2005 Toyota Camry SE V6 (3.3L) which has just under 300,000km. So far I have put just shy of 40,000kms on the vehicle and have taken it on several longer trips (5+ hours). I have really enjoyed the car and unlike the XLE, it has a sunroof and heated leather seats in the front with unheated leather seats in the back. The power out of the 3.3L engine is phenomenal (230hp and 225 ft pounds of torque if memory serves correct) and is surprisingly quick. I have swapped out the factory head unit for a touch screen JVC head unit with apple car play which pairs nicely with the factory JBL sound system. It is comfortable and well equipped ride. Anyone looking for a comfortable and well equipped vehicle as a first vehicle, daily beater, or just good old Toyota reliability will not be disappointed in this era of Camry. If you can, find the V6 models as the extra power is nice to have.

@@larrywillard8639 not much to look for. Besides the normal stuff. Just to be safe, give it a good look through all around the vehicle inside and out. Take it for a drive, pay attention to everything during the drive. It’s a good and reliable car with good MPG. I think I would do like 35mpg on the freeway and 25-27mpg around town. I sold the car and now got a 2011 V6 camry with 236k miles. I didn’t hesitate on the miles. Took it on few road-trips without issue. It survived the Vegas summer. Does about 30mpg on the freeway and 21-23mpg around town. Bunch of times I went heavy on the gas, engine pulls hard and transmission shifts good. Toyotas are tough. I like the reaction on ppl that think my Camry is slow. it’s definitely a sleeper lol

Bought a '02 Camry new twenty years ago. SE, V6, Aspen Green, beige leather with black and silver/chrome accents. Handsome interior. From the factory with firmer suspension (but not too firm), strut tower brace, sport, three-spoke steering wheel and black badges. The alloy wheels are very easy to clean. The rear spoiler looks good and adds detail. Factory tires were hard compound and scary in snow. 94,000 miles today. Three batteries and three sets of tires. Replaced front right wheel bearing and the left rear wh bearing. Some minor issues with right side passenger windows but they work and seal quiet. Zero squeaks or rattles today. Best vehicle I've ever had.

Touch the gas a bit too much from a stop and the car lurches forward. The brake pedal does nothing at first, until you push it a little more, then stops hard all of a sudden. Have white 93 v6 xle. Agree with guys below live body style. Only place toyota choked it was wheel choice. Aftermarket has options i found cheap but nice alternative. Pull a part. Got 4 aluminum wheels 6 spoke nissans off 03 altima. Finish was flaking and powder coating is 100 a wheel. Got all 4 for 160 at pull a part. I sanded and painted them a dark metallic gray, looks great on white. Many new white cars gave gray wheels and i liked the look. Paint can chip faster than powder coating but touch up is s breeze on car. For purist i took nissan center caps popped off nissan logo filled holes painted to match wheel then glued on toyota logos. Had a few guys ask when toyota made these wheels lol.

Thank you for the reply. How many miles on the car? I am looking to buy my Neigbour’s grandma’s car with 50000 miles on it. I know the 2AZ FE was problematic with oil consumption issues. They say only from 2007-2009 so I am just trying to find out if the older 2002-2006 2AZ had the same issues. The car was build in Kentucky and that is where the problems came from apparently.

@@jacoe33333 I've had no oil consumption issues on my 02 LE Camry so far. I bought it in 2018 with 194k miles on it. I don't know if the previous owner had the warranty used and the leak issue resolved but as of now no leaks or burning.

I think you want to connect an mp3 player to play though the cars sound system. In that case try to find a cassette tape adapter that comes with an attached cord with a 3.5mm plug which you plug into your mp3 player. So your mp3 player plays though the cassette deck assuming of course that your car has one. My 2002 Camry has a cassette deck.

not stock but there's an adapter that makes use of the cd changer plug and turns it into bluetooth/aux... it's probably easier to just upgrade the stereo to an aftermarket one

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting on the 4cyl, there's a clean 06 with 130k miles with all the records of service for 4k but also a nice 2002 Corolla at 140k miles same story for 1k less.. if there isnt that much of a mpg gap I'd get the Camry and be more comfortable and all that , thanks much appreciated

Corolla also seemed to me to be gutless, had problems passing cars on the hwy. The Camry is smooth and the transmissions r great. Biggest cause of check engine light is the 02 censor (there's 2 and usually the bottom one goes).

I will sum up best most reliable luxury sedan in price range ever. In 4cyl or 6cyl no car ever was better than this gen camry have 03 335k miles. 3 parts that are non wear items like tires breaks etc failed. All after 250k knock sensor alternator and radiator got rock hole. Beat that with any car 3 times the cost

The XLE is the top of the line in trim. The V6 was optional on all models, and that added the alloys and rear disc brakes.

2005 LE with leather seats, purchased 3yrs.ago with 226,000 miles..Used it for LYFT until March 2020 when Covid hit. Now coming up to 257,000 miles. Replaced a lot of parts and bought the wood grain trim parts on Ebay and now looks like an XLE inside. Love this car and enjoy driving it more than my 2015 RAV4 purchased new.

Are they going to be cars that will run strong well beyond 200K, even 300K miles and hold together like a Camry? I always see Hyundais and KIAs for sale at 100K miles for really cheap prices. They seem like nice vehicles though for sure, just don't know about longevity.
