Damm good engine, my 96 Camry has over 400K miles on it, still runs good, however after adjusting valve clearances a couple of times over the years, it has a ticking due to wear on the valve train. My question is :would NEW caps on the valve tips help take up some of the excess clearance? Thinking if I replace them with new ones maybe the new ones would be slightly thicker and help with the ticking? Any help would be greatly appreciated 😉

GREAT VIDEO, BUT I NEED HELP! I'M REPLACING HEAD GASKETS WITH ENGINE IN CAR. I LINED UP THE CRANK GEAR AND BOTH CAM TIMING GEARS CORRECTLY. I FOUND THE FRONT (RIGHT BANK INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAM GEAR TIMING MARKS, AND THEY WERE PERFECTLY ALIGNED. THE TOYOTA MANUAL STATED THAT THERE SHOULD BE A DOUBLE DOT ON EACH OF THE REAR (LEFT BANK) CAM AND DRIVEN GEAR. MINE ONLY HAS 1X EACH JUST LIKE THE FRONT HEAD. PLUS THE MARKS WERE NOT LINED UP. THEY WERE 5 TEETH OFF ON EACH GEAR. IF ROTATED THEY WOULD LINE UP THOUGH. DID I SCREW UP? AM I CRAZY? PLEASE REPLY WITH ANY HELP. THANK YOU.
