Hello Mr. Shiraz, thank you for the review. I have one question When the speed is low (say around 10) and the transmission is still in 2nd gear (because in manual mode, it does not downshift to first unless the car is almost standing still), do you feel some minor vibrations when picking the speed up again. As during that time the clutch is slipping If one does it very gently, there is not much clutch slip and hence no vibration. Would like your opinion on whether this is normal

You wouldn't do that in a conventional manual, right? So why do it in an AMT/IMT? Like I mentioned in the review, you would want to use the manual mode only in hills to have complete control. Otherwise the regular D mode is all that you need. Again, don't do pick up the car in second gear below 15 km/h, unless you deliberately want to abuse your gearbox 😃

@@RealAutoReviews Oh I would absolutely do that in a manual, have been doing for more than a decade, without lugging the engine of course. What I want is to engage the 2nd gear in the lowest rpm possible, but the computer has its own matrix so slight clutch slip is normal, above a certain threshold of throttle input. My question was whether that vibration is normal or just something I observed on a particular vehicle AMT does not want to shift to 2nd gear until 2000rpm, which in my opinion is a little too high, is noisy, especially in bumper to bumper traffic. Sometimes you can get by using just the 2nd gear, which the manual mode allows More than this behaviour in second gear, manual mode is needed as the car shifts too early to 5th gear. If you observe, that lugs the engine more than it would if it allowed shifting into 2nd a little earlier

@@NalinKhurb that's totally incorrect. 1) You have been lugging your car for over a decade now. You don't feel it, that doesn't mean you aren't lugging it. If you have watched my recent tractability videos, I mention THREE SPEEDS: one is where it's definitely lugging, the third where it's absolutely smooth, and the second in between where a regular user won't notice that it is lugging, but an expert would tell you that it's not happy, which means it IS LUGGING the engine! 2) While the torque converters, CVTs, and even dual clutch 'boxes are idiot proof (which means you can't lug them), even AMTs and IMTs are mostly idiot-proof, unless of course you deliberately choose to cause harm. 3) That judder/vibration you experience is NOT normal. That itself should tell you that you are not supposed to crawl in second gear. 4) No, the AMT upshifting in 5th is not lugging the engine. It won't upshift until a certain criteria (comprising load, throttle position, speed, etc.) is met. You won't harm the engine/GB if you let it do its thing. You will however harm it if you try to force it into doing something which should not be done. Hope this helps!

@@RealAutoReviews Haha, no I have not been lugging any car. Be advised there are other people as well who can tell when the engine is lugging and when it is not As for the judder, of course it felt unnatural, that was the reason why I thought it would be nice to hear your opinion. To clarify, the vibration was not from the engine, you could feel the engine holding a rev nice and proper while the clutch appeared to slip, like in a CVT. I would assume it was a defective car Perhaps lugging would be the wrong term for the scenario in the 5th gear, but the engine load is certainly different and can be felt. Doesn't feel right as it is out of the power band as well. These cars have been tuned for ultra efficiency so I would assign its behaviour to that. When you are accelerating slightly quicker, it will not shift that early on 5th, so yes it does take throttle position in consideration. But if someone likes to accelerate a little slower yet go to a higher pace than 50kmph, it is unsuitable in my opinion As always, appreciate your response. Have a great day

@@NalinKhurb You'd be surprised to learn how many drivers, new and old, don't know the concept of lugging, forget knowing when the engine is lugging. Anyway, now that you shared the second part as well (you should have shared the whole thing at once) it does look like that vehicle had a worn out clutch. 😊
