Installing a CarPlay stereo into my 1995 Toyota Hiace Super Custom Limited van.
This van has the premium sound system that utilizes an amp, which is different than the non limited models as far as wiring and plugs.
Sony XAV-AX5500 7” Apple Car Play, Android Auto, Media Receiver with Bluetooth.
I have this AX5500 in my wife's car and its got a few more features. The AX150 is harder to find and maybe a Walmart exclusive...

I have a 1995 sc ltd with amp, and installed a unit and only had front sound so this much have saved me....mine was tape deck and cd player.

Ok so confusing, I got the 70-1761 style connector (two plugs) but I have a 8 speaker system, I got the SLA-70 and will make a custom plug, so annoying, hope it works, so far only 2 speakers without SLA-70

Nice work !! Curious, seems to have a very good fit with the dashboard trim... did you had to do any cutting/grinding to get it to fit like that ?

No trimming involved. The opening was double DIN size already

I have the same model as yours but 96, thank goodness for your videos otherwise I would be heaps of trouble. What’s size is the screen of head unit and all those factory speakers? Did you replace them all? I want to replace all of mine. Thanks for vids.

It just a standard double DIN stereo size. The factory speakers I replaced with pioneer 4" in the front and the ones at the top of the middle sunroof. The very rear ones I did not replace and assume they are 4" as well, but were not blown.

Can you provide any guidance for a non super custom model? (94 hiace DX kzh116-GMDT) its the base model 10 seater basically no features speakers only in the front lol

It likely just needs the standard Toyota stereo adapter Metra 70-1761. At least that is what most people use if your van doesn't have the add on amplifier setup.
