I had the same issue on my hilux. Changing the actuator has not helped completely - it looks like the diff lock really engages (i see that by the wheel slip during tight turns) but the sensor inside does not give back the signal about engaging , light in the dashboard stays flashing for a couple of minutes and than some electronic control unit I guess gives the signal to disengage because it does not see the succesful feedback. I dont know hot to fix this .

Carefully lift the backside plate. Its aluminium, it breaks easily and you cannot buy it new, you have to buy the whole thing

How did you deattach the other wire? Cannot find a connection, do you simply cut it?

must engage 4x4 first or 4x2 also can engage diff lock?
